@@cheese2742 yes, he basically committed himself 24/7 to winning a championship that, some could argue, won partially on luck. Made his helmet all carbon to reduce the weight of the paint
Exactly, he said if he had to do another season like that he would have lost his family. Drivers like alonso and lewis dont have the family that Nico and Seb did
Exactly, in 2028 when Verstappen’s contract expires, he’ll only be 31 but he’ll already have completed 14 seasons in F1. That’s a long career. He may be only 25 but he’s already had a longer career than Damon Hill.
He's achieved all he wanted, 1 championship is enough for him, he is not finding more reasons to stay in F1 other than his contract and the money involved. He wants to explore other racing categories where he can have competition.
BS, he wants F1, F1 is his priority. F1 is where the legacy is at and where the focus is, he's expressed interest in the 24hrs of Le Mans but that's a 1 time event.
I think it's good that Max is open and outspoken about the stress that the many races mean. It's not just the drivers but the whole crew that has to haul the teams to more and more countries with shorter and shorter time to do so. I think most drivers aren't in the position where they can afford such honesty and most in the team don't have the platform where anybody would listen, so it's good that he is openly stating a counter argument to the FIA's strategy.
And people forget about how honest Max is. He isn’t gonna just throw some rainbows out there for people. If he’s feeling it he will tell you and he doesn’t like the ‘show biz’ format F1 is trying to put on. He’s a pure racer. This extra carnival stuff isn’t for him
Max will get his 8th title, and then leave. Max must make sure that lewis never gets 8th title, so your British naive hopes that he will leave and allow Hamilton to get easy titles- not going to happen. Max will never leave before he makes sure lulu is finished.
Max this weekend confirmed in a Dutch interview that he will sit out his contract until 2028. After that he'll see if he still enjoys the sport. He wants to try different things, like helping young talents get ahead. He's interested in trying to get young sim racers into real GT cars.
@@samueljayachandran2849 He’s often talked about running a karting team and mentoring young kids. He will never leave racing or even F1-adjacent racing. But he will appear in different forms throughout the years as he lives out his best life.
@@mamavswild He's likely going to be a GT3 Factory Driver, there are two new programs coming in that need them in Ford and Chevy, and both would want to snap up Max, since he can develop semi-pros into pros.
Sometimes it's better to retire early. Take Raikkonen, for example. Pre-2009, he was an absolute beast on a track, one of the best. After his comeback, he had like 2, maybe 3 seasons that were worth talking about while rest was mostly forgettable. There's no shame in quitting early, drivers like Rosberg or Hunt did it as well, and no one ever criticized them for that.
For me it depends on performance, ig if ur someone like Alonso, fuck it who cares if ur 41, ur still killing it. But Kimi was medicore since 2014... so by 2020 ur like mate ur a legend, but i don't mind an exciting young rookie to replace you.
Welllll…..I DO think Hunt and Rosberg were both criticized quite harshly each in their turn. It wasn’t a smooth thing at all. I also think the abuse Nico received from the British media and British ham fans (not ALL British fans but the British LH ones who made it so bad at some races he had to yell because he couldn’t speak through the jeerss) who literally traveled all around the world to boo and harass him played at least some part. He didn’t want his wife and young children seeing that.
@@javierplays9516 Kimi was really only still with Ferrari because Seb liked him. If not for that, he’d have been dropped a lot sooner and probably would’ve retired a bit sooner. He just never got the spotlight taken off because he was always at the top.
Max got into F1 at incredibly young age and by age 25 is already on his way to becoming 3 time world champion. Max knows that he doesn't have to stay in F1 and has doors open to do pretty much anything else he might want. So it's entirely normal that he's starting to wonder if he wants to keep dedicating his life to F1 or try some other things.
It'd be Ford, not RB that starts it, plus Max has been Sim Racing GT3s, and winning in them. Ford's probably gonna snap him up as a Factory GT3 Driver come 2029.
@@Dexter037S4 Maybe he might want to leave Red Bull on good terms. Red Bull rarely bottle regulation changes, so there is a possibility that he can be an 8 time World Champion by the time he leaves F1. That would be the perfect Red Bull send off, and he can join an already established endurance racing team like Toyota or Porsche in the top class. In between the races, he could do some V8 Supercars, WRC or IndyCar racing if he wanted to.
If I was in his position, I would try different racing series. Winning triple crown would be epic and kind of a challenge that fits Max way more than winning more F1 titltes than Michael Schumacher.
I think he said he believes ovals are too dangerous for him, so I doubt a triple crown is coming. However, I 100% see him going for a Le Mans overall win some day
Hope he doesn't leave any time soon, I kinda agree with him on the sprint stuff etc. Especially how anti-climactic it was in Baku (could work, needs further tweaking) but idk, he's been in F1 for a long time already despite being 25 so that kinda distorts things as well, since his age isn't the indicator that it usually is
I think the Alonso comparison is dead on. He'll do what he wants, when he wants, because he is both capable and in the driver's seat of his own career.
He also sees the writing on the wall. Checo is clearly Ford´s favorite because of how popular he is in Mexico and America, he´s going to be their number 1 driver
@@M97-u8t Haha that's a great joke. Checo will never be a number one driver there are way more talented drivers. And Max is obviously Red Bulls golden boy, as long as he stays there he will be their number one.
I think its possible. I also think if F1 keeps adding races we will see careers overall be shorter. As a fan I would love more races, but thinking as a driver... The toll that many races will have on their bodies and not having as long to recover before you have to start training all out before the next season has to be rough. I think F1 management needs to chill on the constant money grab and take these kind of things info consideration.
Something we always forget is how young Max was when he entered F1. If he was to retire by 2028 he would have been in the sport 13 years. That’s a decent length career with potential for a lot of success so I don’t think it’s that crazy an idea for him to walk away around then.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a fan of Max, but I have to give it to him. He doesn't seem to be in it for the money, the fame or the glory. He honestly doesn't even seem to be that concerned with winning (which is admittedly very easy when you're at the level he is, with the cars he's been in these last few years, which will guarantee a healthy dose of wins anyway), he just seems to care about racing his best, which you have to tip your hat to, love him or hate him.
What a respectful video. Very nice to watch. When Max is 31 year old in 2028 I think he is leaving F1, because he is very honest and open. I hope he will stay a bit longer, because I like him as a driver and the outspoken personality, but if F1 continues to develop in this way then he will leave.
He (and most of the grid) entered F1 so young that we will be stuck forever with the same driver field unless they retire early. With the amount of races increasing as well, I think we will see more drivers retire in their early 30s than expected, especially those who are stuck in midfield cars.
Its crazy to think he could retire right now and already be one of the best ever f1 drivers. Both by stats and, specially, for what he has done on track
He should take the real challenge in F1. No, i don't talk about become world champion (He already did it) with Superior Car. But drive for Ferrari and become world champion with Ferrari. Now thats the real challenge in F1.
I think that I can see Max racing in different series during the winter and summer breaks, in a virtual sense, so that he can get an understanding of if he needs to change his driving per that series and if he will enjoy it as much as he enjoyed winning his first two championships. I could see Max staying with RB until the end of his contract and if he is still winning races and fighting for championships in '28, then he'll have to decide what he wants to do in F1 or if he wants to switch over a different series like Indycar, WEC, Le Mans, etc. I really think that if he signs another contract that it will be with RB b/c by the end of 2028, Checo will be 38 and retired, if not already thinking about it and RB will definitely promote either Yuki, *Lawson, or *Iwasa into the works team. *Pending improvement at AT for a few seasons.
Max doesn’t like the ‘showbiz’ route F1 is trying to take. He’s a pure racer and he’s also too honest to say something patronizing to the FIA or fans. And the British sensationalist media tries to destroy anyone not British…they were terrible to Seb, they were terrible to Alonso and even Kimi in his day. They control the sport and Max isn’t about the media in the first place, much less how he’s treated by the British dominated sport. Max may possibly be the person I’ve seen their media treat the worst. Nico was close though. I remember how the media laughed at Nico trying to ask them to stop giving airtime to British fans who followed him all around Europe booing him so bad he sometimes couldn’t speak.
Ask yourself this: That Tom Clarkson, the guy that does the after race interviews, oh and F1 Nation, Beyond the Grid, he did all the up and coming drivers. Except Verstappen. Oh forgot, he did interview Jos, not Max. Seems there is some 'friction' it seems...
I honestly think he wants to race in categories where the racing is closer. Where you can follow a car 1 foot from their bumper. I think he will take time off from F1 in the future and come back like Fernando
Never thought Max was part of the FIRE movement, lol. Jokes apart though, I get it. The guy has been racing since he is was a kid- with the only goal of being F1 world champion. And one can argue that it wasn’t really his dream, but his father’s. Maybe this is his way of finding his own motivation his life, setting his own goals
I think he sees Hamilton and Alonso and doesn’t want that for himself, still in the sport at their age and potentially for many years still just chasing one more title. Might even just not want the attention that becoming the most successful ever could bring
Good for Max, honestly. He came to the sport so early he feels like a veteran at 25, but more than that, I always felt Max was a bit like an old school driver. I believe his ultimate goal was to win a championship and prove that to himself. I don't think he is looking to rack them up and get necessarily as many as he possibly can at all costs. I fully agree with him that the longer format is ridiculous. Even as a fan who loves F1 and follows every race, I need some weekends to myself! Domenicali is seeing a somewhat nieche sport blow-up into the mainstream and is chasing that cash at all costs. In this case, the cost is quality. Quality of the cars, quality of the racing, etc. And the soul of F1 has always been quality. I'm glad Max isn't willing to compromise that and is outspoken about it.
I think Verstappen will stay as long as he's having fun and enjoy racing in F1. If the calendar or format becomes too much or transform into something that he doesn't enjoy or he feels it negatively impacts his life, he'll just leave. Contract or not. He might explore other forms of motorsport, but it'll be because he finds them intriguing or fun.
He's not going to retire anytime soon, he's merely highlighting how stupid F1 is becoming with its expansion of the racing calendar for the sake of it.
He might step away from the sport, go away and do some racing in other series' and come back to the sport in a few years to see where he's at. I could see him winning more titles after coming back to the sport. He's mentioned endurance racing in the past. And as I fan, a F1 race is starting to feel regular because there are so many. I can't imagine being on nearly every other weekend for years at a time. Edit: I should have watched the video first.
Its the NASCAR effect.. Too many changes, too short a time frame in which they come in. This new change making the Sprints a standalone event is just the latest in constant moves to alienate older viewers who've been here even as recently as 2018.
Yes, he will retire. On Dutch TV he has named three options: 1. Starting an F1 team (unlikely in my opinion, because up to 30 races. Too hectic). 2. Le Mans and endurance racing (very likely as he mentioned this multiple times) and 3. Starting a motorsport museum around his career with added theme park (very likely as his father keeps EVERYTHING he ever used in ALL of Max's career and Max loves motorsport and fun. He was also quite adament, when he mentioned this). Now, 2 and 3 can be combined and voilà, there is where I think Max is heading. And don't forget, his wife is a fair bit older than he. He will also have children by then, probably. So a bit of time for family won't hurt either.
Funny you should mention this. Just before Baku, Max talked about how he didn’t really need a third championship and how the second was just the icing on the cake. This might be true for him, but I found it odd how it almost felt like he was brushing it off as if he expected to lose. Then thinking back on the past few races, I had a thought about something. Now, this is just a thought and I don’t have any solid evidence other than it fits the facts that we do know. The thought was that this season was starting to feel like a “passing of the torch” to Checo, and there’s two major reasons why I felt that. First, going back to Jeddah, since everyone was talking about orders this and unfairness that, I decided to look up the team radio myself and made two important discoveries. First, the thing with Checo’s lap time was just a misunderstanding. Bird (Checo’s engineer) initially gave Checo the wrong time before correcting himself (to the time Max was on). For some reason, Checo just missed the correction. The second thing I noticed however, was that Max was not being given ANY information to allow him to compete for first place, but Checo was constantly informed about Max. Whatever Max did, they told Checo, so he was always able to perfectly react and counter Max’s pushes. On the other hand, Max was never given any information about Checo at all. All he got was the usual “mundane” stuff such as track limit and occasionally pace of other drivers. On top of this, while the initially had both drivers holding back they eventually allowed Checo to push, but tried to dissuade Max from doing the same. The other thing I’ve noticed is that Max’s car is STILL suffering from the exact same problems, shifting and grip, since the first race, despite being two months into the season. It seems highly uncharacteristic that the team hasn’t managed to get on top of this yet. Critically, however, Checo’s car had earlier also been suffering from one of the same problems, grip. However, they seem to have fixed, or at least significantly improved this issue with Checo. On the other hand, not only has it not been resolved with Max, it appears to be worse, with many pundits and observers noting how he seemed to be slipping and sliding a lot this past race. These things feels like they’re setting up Checo to defeat Max in a “fair” fight or at the very least to set him up as a proper championship contender if he loses since I don’t expect Max to just roll over. By holding back Max to boost Checo, Max would then be able to bow out with the fans under the impression that Checo has the potential to win in a “fair” fight for the championship. Again, this is just a thought that I had and that’s it. Who honestly knows really besides the team? Let’s just watch if Max’s car continues to suffer the same problems. The thing about Nico, is that from his interviews, it seemed like the team had a pretty toxic (or at least provocative if that’s a better fit?) atmosphere at the time. I remember this one interview where Nico was flat out asked about how his relationship with Lewis soured. I had expected he would give subtle jabs at Lewis, and I was surprised that he didn’t have anything really negative to say other than BOTH of them falling for manipulation from the team. He didn’t name names or go into much details, but he explained it as members of the team would go to each driver and say something like “Hey did you hear what (the other driver) said? Are you just going to take that?”, like the team was actively inciting them to turn against each other. I don’t know how true this is, but considering he placed equal parts blame on himself and Lewis for both being goaded, rather than laying it all on Lewis (even if just subtly), I’m inclined to think that he may be telling the truth. I honestly don’t think that anyone that currently has an F1 seat would ever go to Ferrari if they are in their right minds. It’s not just the drivers and team principal. They need a massive overhaul. During Schumi’s tenure, they got rid of all, or nearly, all of the old guard AND they constantly ran interference against both the Ferrari brand owners and the Italian media to keep them from meddling. I will say however, that it’s funny because I personally have never heard anyone before say anything about Max going into Ferrari, only Lewis. It would be absolutely mental if Max and Lewis ever ended up as teammates at Ferrari. Charles would probably immediately jump ship to either Red Bull, or Mercedes if Max advocates for Red Bull taking in Norris.
Max hinted on endurance racing multiple times last year already. He has also said dozen times he wil NOT race on ovals due to the risks and therefore has NO interest in the triple crown.
Max is is saying what everyone else wants to say. The current format is too much. There's no need for sprint races and 23 races, especially with the budget constraints. If the endurance championship can keep the momentum going with the hypercar, it would make sense that Max could attempt a run at the full season when his contract ends. The schedule is nowhere near as exhausting.
I think none of you can have the perspective of living and breathing racing since the age of 4 or 5 with a professional race driver/father/coach. It's a grind, even if you are as good as max. Plus he's a multimillionaire, easily the most talented driver in F1 (anywhere). Unless you are an Alonso who is an enigma, why continue when there is nothing more to gain.
He is right about the incrising number of events, i dont think we need more races and the new sprint format is very bad so we should go back and stop rushing adding things into the calendar.
I would be interested in seeing him doing the Isle of Man TT, a totally different form of motorracing. :D I would also love to hear some more details about why exactly Max finds it difficult to race this many races a year in F1. One thing I often hear is drivers complaining them not having enough time for their loved ones but most F1 racers including Max definitely has the salary to pay for pretty much all of his loved ones to follow him to plenty of the venues.
I think it's not only about family and loved ones. Such many races with such little time between is also very hard mentally and A LOT of stress. The drivers get less time to "recover" between races and less time to prepare, but the pressure to perform is still there. And no matter how big your love for a sport is, such pressure and stress can really destroy the fun in it for you. Also it's really challenging not only for the drivers but also for the rest of the team. They have to get everything from one race to another in less time and more often and they have less time to e.g. improve the car or stuff like that. Of course seeing loved ones less is an important part too, but it's not the only reason why driving so many races can be really difficult.
Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll get to see Max go for the triple crown. He’s said before that he would never compete in the Indy 500, and given his level of talent I think it will be one of the biggest “what ifs” in motorsports. Definitely see him going for titles and crown jewel wins in other series for a long time though.
He did definitively say that Indy is far too irresponsible (dangerous). 150G crashes are quite common, that’s why their cars aren’t built of carbon fiber. But I can’t help but hope he’ll change his mind about the Indy500 and jump in one though.
I think Max will stay interested in f1 if someone can challenge him and will keep talking about retirement until its a cakewalk. It must get lonely at the top.
I think he genuinely enjoys Checo being closer to him this year. He has no one to wheel to wheel race with, which is his favorite. It also may be why RBR is letting tj race. Otherwise a team will always try to keep the star driver from being in a position to crash out…..I believe Max has asked them to let them race.
That is not the kind of guy Max is at all. Like Albon has said, Max is not political in any way. Anyway, Max confirmed in a Dutch interview that he'll sit out his contract until 2028. And will see then what he wants to do afterwards. One of the things he'd like to do is help young talents get ahead. Like getting Sim racers into real GT cars. So no, this has nothing to do with trying to influence decisions.
@@gameofender4463 Max is just being honest. Every one of his comments on this topic came as the answer to a question…a question the media knew what they were doing when they asked it! These questions were leading questions, asked because they KNEW Max doesn’t have a political bone in his body and he would answer honestly.
Forget just LeMans. He might run a full WEC season. Especially with the Hypercar bubble exploding right now. We're talking names like Valentino Rossi potentially being on the grid next year. WEC will want a superstar like him as well.
@@RukaGoldheart I think he'll be in WEC since he's already racing LMP2 with Prema in the WEC. With Grosjean racing in America, chances are he will be in for IMSA. Kvyat has been confirmed for Daytona though next year.
I don't belive it for a second. I remember lewis saying he wanted to retire sooner than a lot of people expected, cause he wanted to focus on other projects, but know he's already talking about how incredible it is to see Alonso smashing at 40. All max needs is a bit of perspective. Once he realizes that experimenting other categories is fun, but none of them can give what f1 obviously can, he'll chance his speech rapidly. F1 is feeling a bit boring for him right now, but all it takes is a little bit of internal fire to come alive again, maybe checo is already working on that if you know what i mean
I don’t think Max says ANYTHING that he doesn’t mean. That said, the Checo part is something I could get onboard with. He genuinely LIKES having Checo closer…it gives him someone to race. This could be exactly why RBR is holding back on team orders…Max has asked them to let the two race
I think now we could enter the era of mental health career, I mean if you think rationally is logical that a young person that is already succesful and millionaire just wants to explore other things or directly retire
I am not a Max fan, but here, I don't blame him at all. It's because the current ownership of F1 is turning it into a joke. The whole reason I fell in love with this sport was because it wasn't NASCAR.
Here's my thoughts on the matter: If Max was to retire early like in there late 20's early 30's I think it would be a massive what could have been. He has the potential to hit 8, 9 world titles and smash the record provided he's given the right car and if he was to retire at any point I agree with Aldas he would probably do an Alonso and jump into different sports to cement himself as one of the greats of motorsports but at the moment I can't see Verstappen retiring any time soon
I think Max repeatedly saying he's thinking about leaving F1 is primarily down to him knowing how big of a sway he has (or really what sway world champions have). There are other big shots in F1 right now but a champion leaving (as shown with Vettel just last year) is going to cause a massive shakeup in the sport, and it would be an even bigger shakeup if it's out of a specific reason related to the sport whether it's the calendar or the format or whatever. His status now as a 2-time champion means that he has a lot of sway in the sport and he's making use of that to make it known what he thinks. Whether or not he'll actually retire is probably a big question mark, but that's probably exactly what he wants F1 and the FIA to think, where he wants to be taken seriously about some of the concerns he brings up (regardless if they're warranted or not or if they're correct ). Even the FIA themselves probably know how big of an effect it would have on F1 if prominent drivers like Verstappen begin to turn against them given the drivers' massive fanbases, so it's technically within the FIA's best interests to keep the drivers happy, more so if that driver happens to be one of if not the best right now. It could also be down to who he is as a person, and well that same act of being very vocal is what brought Red Bull the championships they want. If he does retire though, I won't be surprised if few years down the line he ends up pulling together the needed connections and past experience to complete the Triple Crown.
Mans already reached is life goal twice. He just doesnt seem to enjoy it like he used to, still amazingly talented tho so it would be a shame if he quits but i would understand.
@@gameofender4463 I'm sorry but thats the most dumb thing i've heard 😂 Not everything is about Lewis my guy. Some people just don't like traveling to 23 different locations around the world to do 2 qualifications and 2 races when you've already reached your life goal.
2:44 although the season these days is almost twice as long as it was back in the 60s/70s, so completing one year today would be the equivalent of nearly two back then - That's also why we see so many drivers leaving at younger ages these days - Imagine at the end of a year, having spent almost every other weekend driving, and being asked to commit to doing that all over again? You'd get burnout pretty fast
The FIA and FOM aren't focussing on the right things, they shouldn't add and add but improve the racing. We don't need 25 races and we don't need sprintraces, what we need is cars that can race eachother instead of DRS trains or flybys. Wheel to wheel, corner after corner racing is what will make F1 exciting.
He's 'fishing for compliments.' Also covering his back when he's no longer got 'The Best Car'. When other drivers in competitive cars are getting all the results. He'll go. When he isn't able to win all the time, he'll leave F1.
Honestly I wouldn’t even be surprised if Max along with maybe some others seriously consider leaving the sport if F1 keeps trying to push for more and more races.
Max is not thinking about retirement like Nico Rosberg, he mentioned about changing up, most likely a different racing series, like what Kimi did and Alonso, there’s no competition with retirement but it makes more sense that Max moves into another racing series
I personally hope that if Red Bull 2026 car is competitive, Max should stay until his 8th title. It's one thing to deny Hamilton's 8th, and it's quite another to get there first.
You are spoon-fed snippets shared by others ... I am Dutch, and he repeated multiple times he was thinking about leaving AFTER the Red Bull contract has ended, and even mentioned he may still like racing and stay ... SO IT IS ALL A NOTHING BURGER
I've been saying for years that Max will retire early. He reminds me a lot of Marcel Hirscher. He is a driver who did not get into F1 because of a passion for motorsport, but because his father pushed him into it. While he enjoys driving there is a huge difference.
Max doesn’t keep talking about leaving F1. It is, in particular, the British press which keeps asking! Due to RB being dominant so far this season, these morons working for the British tabloids fancy none-existing controversies within RB. This issue is part of their Max hate campaign. At the start of his F1 career, he already was mentally independent. In the meantime he has now reached that comfort zone financially. He will retire from F1 at his own convenience. Albeit, most likely, after 2028 when his current contract expires. Dead simple!
I could see Max having a go at the triple crown (and when u mentioned Leclerc having that pressure of not being a champion and trying to take Ferrari to that title, my mind immediately drew parallels to Jean Alesi - dk if it's just me tho)
I think it's all down to how the redbull car turns out the next 3 years along with the schedule, as we have seen many drivers ready to leave cause of more races.
Tbh, I think the best comparison to Max is when Jackie Stewart retired, after listening to his Beyond The Grid interview, since both were at their peak when they retired. Max is seemingly getting tired of the packed schedule, so was Jackie. He even said how people can see how mentally exhausted he looked in Roman Polanski's documentary about him. Personally, I'm more excited to see max go for the triple crown or maybe even more than to see him win more F1 titles.
i think FIA should change the sprint race regulation, it can still called "sprint race" with the same number of laps but with equal cars and equal engine (just different livery), strategy and driver skill.
Don’t forget he is a true family man too, he even said he wanted kids (which is quite uncommon even make that statement when you’re Dutch). I’d love to see him go for Ferrari though… but for now focus on the races ahead and don’t take his upcoming titles for granted
@@StreetWarrior24 it’s just less of a habit to be so open about it. In America it’s a normal question to ask if someone wants a second child, in the Netherlands this question is q considered to be rude

Max is an incredibly competitive guy, i dont blame him if he wants to try new things, and i will be delighted to see him racing in le mans or rally, he is a literal machine of a driver
Maybe Max is doing a ferrari and telling he would leave F1 if the number of races does not change. I understand the 24 even 30 races will be unbelivable tough on the teams the budget cap so Max here is doing a good job. Losing interest in something makes you want to do less same thing happened to me when i played the F1 game 22 or 23 races gets tiring

I think he is going to do a nando in 2028, take a few years away from the sport, going to do le mans, gte, cause he really enjoys those cars (rents out barcelona and hungary just to drive his porsche) After that i could see him return to a team that is currently dominating. Also depends on the influence jos and raymond have over him, i think that jos especially might convince him to stay a bit longer, if he's close to those 7/8 titles.
There's a real chance Max could actually buy out his own contract and quit earlier. I think it will depend in some factors. Maybe a huge shakeup happens in 2025 with Newey and Marko quitting and Max immediately leaving as well. Or maybe Newey says: ok, one more car and we all continue until the end of your contract and then leave. It seems Max has a keen interest in family and at least part of the RB family is his family now. So they might go out altogether. RB might then choose to sponsor his new endeavor in a RB extreme series and you don't even really leave your contract. But it wouldn't surprise me if he goes sooner rather than later.
I’m not a big Max Verstappen fan, but he makes a lot of sense because everyone has increased the number of races that they participate in quite significantly. We are at 22 races a year I believe when he used to be around 15 maybe 16 races a year. That’s a lot of pressure and that’s a lot of work. And yes the money is great it’s so good in fact that why not just do maybe two or three years Maximo five. I believe you can retire on that kind of money and if you are as good as Max Verstappen and want to continue racing, there is a less rigorous schedule driving sports cars. Everyone needs to have a wake up moment before they lose their prestige.
Aldas - can you PLEASE PLEASE take away that sound effect when you put on a screen or someone's quotations. It is EXTREMELY irritating and is driving me MENTAL
Ideal scenario: he leaves Red Bull at the end of 2025 as a 5-time world champion, then he tries his hand at Ferrari and finally brings the championship back to Maranello
@MaxM2000 Max is better than anyone who ever drove for Ferrari with the exception of Michael. If Max would ever join Ferrari he‘d need to bring people like Horner, Newey, Schmitz, Wheatley, GP etc. with him to actually make that clown fiesta of a team back in Italy work. Which simply will never happen. Max won‘t drive for any other team than RB in F1 imo.

Hes little like Hakkinen. When he finally got good car he won 2 titles and was close to 3rd but next year he had bad car and he just left F1.
Max cant find competition, he’s too fast.

@@javierplays9516 Alonso is indeed a rare exception, because he is clinically insane when it comes to F1 and racing in general.
For Raikkonen it was a hobby.
Exactly. He wants to enjoy his life and start a family in a few years
Seeing Max in WEC would be interesting, especially if RedBull starts a hypercar program.
If they would relaunch their cooperation with Aston Martin and would develop the next generation of the Valkyrie then it would probably be possible.
@@Dexter037S4 I don't quite see Max doing a full season in GT3, if he were to move to WEC it would be in the hypercars.
I see him doing what Fernando did. Winning in other categories.
Yea same agreed
The amount of racing now is taxing as a fan. I can't even imagine what it's like for those that work in f1
Max said winning the WDC was a dream accomplished, anything else at this point is just bonus. Max will go to Le Mans after he retire from F1.
Something we always forget is how young Max was when he entered F1. If he was to retire by 2028 he would have been in the sport 13 years. That’s a decent length career with potential for a lot of success so I don’t think it’s that crazy an idea for him to walk away around then.
Yea and that’s almost how long Vettel was in the sport.
That's same length as Checo's career at this point
I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a fan of Max, but I have to give it to him. He doesn't seem to be in it for the money, the fame or the glory. He honestly doesn't even seem to be that concerned with winning (which is admittedly very easy when you're at the level he is, with the cars he's been in these last few years, which will guarantee a healthy dose of wins anyway), he just seems to care about racing his best, which you have to tip your hat to, love him or hate him.
He knows it's not about the championships, it's the friends he makes along the way :)
Having Jos as a father and starting at age 17, I understand why he wants to quit soon.
The British media is atrocious to him. As bad as his father was to him.

No, i don't talk about become world champion (He already did it) with Superior Car.
But drive for Ferrari and become world champion with Ferrari.
Now thats the real challenge in F1.

Lol, that's the platinum trophy right there. Max is an amazing driver, but even he would need divine intervention to win with Ferrari.
If that were to happen, you would say it was because the Ferrari was the superior car too...
I mean Ferrari's biggest competitor is themself
Even Ferrari have better car , they will become Ferrero with that kind of management
He's done what he set out to do; become F1 world champion. Now he's just racing for the fun of it. Almost like it's a hobby or something...
I hope he does what's best for Max.. if he left I'd be disappointed but he doesn't live his life for me.. 👍👍🏁
At least old sprint format incentivizes drivers to be aggressive as they can start the race at better position. Standalone event ruins that
I've noticed that I'm in agreement with your takes on things a lot lately. Great video again, and yes Verstappen in Ferrari in 2029 would be awesome.
The amount of hate in the comment section is disgusting.
Still want to see the Max x Ricciardo Bathurst wildcard entry run

Max gas actually been driving a long time. He's approaching ten years. Most successful drivers don't drive as long.
Here's my thoughts on the matter:
If Max was to retire early like in there late 20's early 30's I think it would be a massive what could have been.
Damn I hope you’re right. I understand Max doesn’t care about overall records, but heck, I do! 😅 it would be fantastic to watch.
@@mamavswild oh yea agreed it would be awesome to watch despite the potential domination I hope I’m right aswell
I doubt he thinks like this
Mans already reached is life goal twice.
@@gameofender4463 Fair enough. tbf Marko says dumb shit all the time i'm mostly not taking anything serious from him lol
@@gameofender4463 lol Max has contract till 2028 😂 he isn’t going anywhere before that
Goes to show what that Alonso and Kimi are and were beasts. True racers trough and trough.
I reckon Max might go for the triple crown after he leaves F1
2:44 although the season these days is almost twice as long as it was back in the 60s/70s, so completing one year today would be the equivalent of nearly two back then -
That's also why we see so many drivers leaving at younger ages these days - Imagine at the end of a year, having spent almost every other weekend driving, and being asked to commit to doing that all over again? You'd get burnout pretty fast
Unlike Hamilton. Max is not happy out front by miles .. he wants a real race 👍👍👍
He's 'fishing for compliments.'
Also covering his back when he's no longer got 'The Best Car'.
When other drivers in competitive cars are getting all the results. He'll go.
When he isn't able to win all the time, he'll leave F1.
Honestly I wouldn’t even be surprised if Max along with maybe some others seriously consider leaving the sport if F1 keeps trying to push for more and more races.
Mans gonna go for that tripple crown.
Max is not thinking about retirement like Nico Rosberg, he mentioned about changing up, most likely a different racing series, like what Kimi did and Alonso, there’s no competition with retirement but it makes more sense that Max moves into another racing series
Max wants to win, but also wants satisfaction. I don’t believe he wants to race past his peak like Kimi did
I personally hope that if Red Bull 2026 car is competitive, Max should stay until his 8th title.
I mean all sports where you have to start at 4 is a sport you need to get pushed to
Max doesn’t keep talking about leaving F1.
Dead simple!
its good, now top WEC teams have 5 years to create a drive for Max
Sounds great. Send him to NASCAR please.
I could see Max having a go at the triple crown (and when u mentioned Leclerc having that pressure of not being a champion and trying to take Ferrari to that title, my mind immediately drew parallels to Jean Alesi - dk if it's just me tho)
have you ever finish the main mission in a game then just get bored
He thinks he is bigger than the sport so he threatens to leave in hope that the changes don't happen.
He's all talk, he won't retire
I'm curious about why it would be odd for a Dutchman to say they want kids. Care to elaborate?
@@StreetWarrior24 it’s just less of a habit to be so open about it. In America it’s a normal question to ask if someone wants a second child, in the Netherlands this question is q considered to be rude
I will not be surprised if max randomly decides to go into NASCAR or something
He's repeatedly said he thinks ovals are too dangerous and wouldn't consider it.
However, you never know, maybe he'll change his mind in 10 years time.
Max is an incredibly competitive guy, i dont blame him if he wants to try new things, and i will be delighted to see him racing in le mans or rally, he is a literal machine of a driver
Because the media keep asking him. He always just bluntly answers.
Talking publicly about leaving is a very good way to keep your salary negotiated high
Imagine Max in Ferrari 😂😂😂
He'll beat the shit out of his engineer
Man literally saying hes too good for the grindset. King
Ummm... but he said that he has no interest in getting the triple crown 👀
I do like your channel and enjoy your content. That said, for the love of God, PLEASE remove those super-annoying clicks between paragraphs/sections/comments during your video! They are very distracting, their high-frequency content actually hurt my ears (I use IEMs) and really feel unprofessional.
It's worth noting that we have many other channels to watch that cover the same subject but without the dumb clicks,, so be well-advised...thank you.
or just don't use IEM's? His content doesn't surround you
@@icantdecideahandle that's an option obviously, but misses the point. I'm commenting on what is a production issue, one that nearly all YT channels manage to avoid. Trying to improve the content with Subscriber feedback here!
@@Thuddster weird take but ok
Max in Indycar would be AWESOME
Max winning a championship at ferrari would be the best thing to watch
I would love to see Max in NASCAR
Max should go to Indy after F1 and give that a shot.
I think we all know Aldas created his RUclips channel because of Max Verstappen.
What a huge Max fanboy Aldas is.
Ideal scenario: he leaves Red Bull at the end of 2025 as a 5-time world champion, then he tries his hand at Ferrari and finally brings the championship back to Maranello
Max has contract till 2028with RBR
@@Redlingstein I know he does. But if he wins 5 world titles for them, I’m sure they could come to an agreement to let him go
@MaxM2000 Max is better than anyone who ever drove for Ferrari with the exception of Michael.
Becasue winning isnt enough, winning after one race isnt enough, having to share the track isnt enoug, NOT BEING THE ONLY CAR TO START AND FINISH JUST ISNT ENOUGH
