    This is funny to me, my General Surgery Rotation Professor told me to quit med school because I studied to understand the logic not to memorize everything, yet here’s a different doctor saying it’s important to understand the logic.

    "Risk 4 years of your life and tens of thousands of dollars for a chance to get into medical school instead of choosing another career that is comfortable and where you don't need 12-14 years of education during the prime years of your life"

    • @harrisonzhu3300
      @harrisonzhu3300 Год назад +27

      What are you doing during the prime years of your life?
      Tbh learning how to be a physician is not a bad use of your time.

    • @skyhappy
      @skyhappy Год назад

      @@harrisonzhu3300 Learning stuff that interests me. Most stuff they teach in med school is useless. Doctors specialize, memorizing this metabolic pathway or the types of white blood cells probably won't be used. Also in North America you need a useless bachelors degree to apply for med school which wastes 4 years. In Europe you go in from high school.

    • @harrisonzhu3300
      @harrisonzhu3300 Год назад +8

      @@skyhappy ok will I mean you can’t learn everything right? If medicine’s not for you than it’s not for you. Nothing wrong with that.

    • @skyhappy
      @skyhappy Год назад +4

      @@harrisonzhu3300 What I am saying is that the stakes are so high to get into med school in North America where you are forced to use 4 years of your life for a bachelor's. A doctor is a job at the end of the day, and it's not a very good one when you look at the time investment compared to other well paying fields.

    • @harrisonzhu3300
      @harrisonzhu3300 Год назад +12

      @@skyhappy define “good”. Money wise? Sure you can make more in other fields, but you have to be top percentile. A lot of people are attracted to medicine for the job security/stability. If you get in, you’re essentially guaranteed a high paying job for the rest of your life so long as you do what you’re supposed to. And besides like people enjoy the work and the field. So like I said not for everyone, but it’s the best option for a lot of people with the right personality/interests. And of course, it has unique perks too
