So around the time this was coming out, I read an article of a group of wild boar that had, in fact, snorted the cocaine. And I could never shake the idea of how that would be a better movie. Because what's scarier: ONE bear on cocaine, or 30 to 50 wild boar... on cocaine? (Also, Razorback comes out on Bluray next month, so killer big movies have been on my mind).
Somehow the boars and the snorting just make me link it to Succession. Imagine the sequel being Succession's characters trapped in their secluded country home while cocaine boars attack! I would pay good money for that.
Honestly this movie and Megan really is setting the movie scene for me in 2023. The year is off to a great start and really can't wait for movies the rest of the year. This movie was fucking hilarious and needs to win an Oscar.
Haven’t seen Megan yet but cocaine bear was disappointing. I was expecting it to be funny and didn’t even come close to laughing once. Very dry basic humor .. maybe I’ll give it another try some time down the road
Cocaine Bear is a great companion to M3gan in a new genre I like to call Elevated Schlock. My main criticism of the film was with the editing. There was one scene where the St. Louis guys referencing seeing the dead hiker, and then they do a quick flashback to seeing the guy dead. Why was that a flashback? Why didn’t the film just cut to it earlier? Other than stuff like that, I enjoyed the film. I want to believe the film opening with Jane was Elizabeth Banks homaging Wet Hot American Summer and David Wain! As soon as I heard that song, I knew what tone the movie was going for.
@@cgimichaelmyers2806 The ones showing the teen gang after they had been killed and the one friend saying "We're moving to New York City together" was really good, and the cutaway showing the detective with his dog as he is dying was nice too. It's just that one flashback that seemed sloppy.

I watched it a couple days ago and thought it was a fairly decent film of giving its audience a horror comedy. I wish they did more practical effects rather than relying heavily on cgi. As well as wishing the humor was better throughout the film. But the moments it was really good got a chuckle or smile out of me. And at times I found myself rooting for the bear.
