I haven't watched this version of Little Women, but I've watched Anne of Green Gables many times over the years. I must say, the scene between Gilbert and Anne is so much more nuanced and tender, even though the words are almost the same. There is a slight glimmer between them that foreshadows the relationship to come--a caring, a sweetness. Also the scene was better directed. Just better, by far, in my opinion.
The scene from Little Women 1994 movie with Winona Ryder and Christian Bale is exquisite and doesn’t bear much resemblance to Anne of Green Gables. I love both equally but Anne of Green Gables 80s mini tv series version is an all time classic. 💖
I would say there's a certain truth about women, especially in that time period, who wanted something besides marriage and they knew they couldn't try for that if they married too soon; that causes these to be similar. But also it's possible that the newer Little Women version has "borrowed" from Anne of Green Gables.----Plus, timing is everything. If you're not ready, you're not ready.
Their love stories were rather different though. Jo definitely didn't love Laurie in that way and she already understood it. Later she tried to pursue him, but it was because she was feeling lonely, but in the end she understood that it wasn't a good idea. Anne however already loved Gilbert quite in that way, perhaps only not fully acknowledging it yet.
Funny how the two couples act the same way towards each other. I never saw Little Women, just Anne of Green Gables. It was romantic at the time, but on reflection it just looks like in both cases the women were overthinking things.
Spoiler for Little Women: ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Anne and Jo are different, though. Anne evaluetes her feelings and realizes she loves him. Jo does not change her mind. In the movie, she is nostalgic and misses him, but he marries her sister. As many fans were dissapointed, they should be introduced to Anne. They might get some of their energy.
Just so the facts are straight. Little women was written in 1868 while Anne of the island was written in 1915. The little women proposal is the original
This movie of anne of avenlea came out in the 80s tho vs little women came out in the last couple years. I read Anne of Avenlea and I'm 99% sure that this dialogue is not original to the book but special to the movie adaptation. So obviously Greta Gerwig really loved that movie because if not she would not have made the dialogue for little women so similar to the anne of avenlea one

The dialogue script is way too similar, some of them word by word.
Hey! I have said it for months!!! Such a similar scene! Thanks for this. I adore Megan Follows as Anne Shirley.
same here !!
Have watched that series many times .. love it👍👍👍💕💕💕💕

Anne of Green Gables! Without a doubt.
So I think it's fair to say Greta Gerwig watched Anne of Avonlea a few times... Holy crap.
So basically the new Little Women plagiarized the 80s Anne of Avonlea
The reverse. Little Women proposal is so accurate from the book. The Anne miniseries copied from Little Women.
IM SO GLAD U MADE THIS VIDEO thank goodness I’m not the only one who noticed I was actually considering making a video myself lol
I was just rewatching the Bridge Scene and I was like…why does this sound so familiar?
I rewatched Little Women 2019 5 days ago, that’s why!

Anne of Green Gables! ❤️
Omg this is so wierd. I was watching annie of green gables and thought. Wow this is similar to little women 😂 and then I found your video.

Yes, who ever made the new little women rendition was obviously influenced by Anne of Green Gables.

Gilbert & Anne are both hurting but calm - caring in this. The Little Women scene seems to be totally copying the prior Green Gable scene.
It's not. It's close to the book, I'd say it borrowed from the original Little Women book.
Es justo lo que pensé cuando vi la escena!!!
Dang that’s awkward ...
Use the 1994 Little Women though
feel free
Have you READ both?
both great stories!
But The fictional couple in “Little Women” Doesn’t eventually get married like Anne and Gilbert do correct. ?!
No, this is merely a comparison between the proposal scenes 😊
