Not necessarily it wouldn't cause any mechanical issues to delete the rad cooler but some transmission tunes require the trans to be at 95 degrees before they'll lock the torque converter if you get rid of the rad part of the cooler it might never get there with normal driving so check with your tuner if you have one not sure about the stock tune
@ like get below 95 degrees? That seems incredibly low. My trans generally runs close to engine temp I think. It’s been so long since I’ve actually driven this truck that I can’t really remember
It runs at engine temperature because the trans "cooler" in the rad actually works to heat the trans ive seen ones with just an oil to air cooler never get above 100 there's different schools of thought as to why you would want to keep the fluid warm but in these trucks cooler is better has been my experience the trans seems to last longer
easy just pull it from top i know i also lot less is pull whole front clip hood grill all makes lot easy or remove whole body to work on cab and front clip seem like lot but lot times need for the whole thing to be updated lot cheaper time wise just saying
garths graveyard cars doing same pile my self work on many them piles sheets metal all same real pile like body swap graft but either way junk lot lot junk prefer medium duty simple easy better
I like watching these videos there really good videos
That is a trans cooler on the early duramaxes the trans fluid goes from the trans cooler in the rad to a second oil to air cooler
@@drewfisher623 ohhh okay. If I added a larger air cooler is the rad cooler still required? I have a larger mishimoto cooler in the closet
