One tip for a lot very easy runes, go to Caelid Dragonbarrow west grace and go south-east, you should find a gray giant elder dragon, go it's left side back leg and start hitting preferably with a weapon with bloodloss, you have to hit for awhile but you get +70 000 runes and 5 dragon hearts, thats easily atleast 10 free levels.
I did this and it made me from level 9 to 34 with just a 5 minute kill. But first I grabbed an item that gives me 30% extra runes when dropped and I used it when the dragon was almost dead

@@Trashy. Bro, if you dive into an Elden Ring guide while on shrooms, you'll basically be unlocking the game's hidden dimensions. Just be sure you're in a chill, safe spot so you can fully vibe with the adventure!
If you're not turned off by grinding, there are a few spots where you can farm runes. Agheel Lake South has a continuous battle southwest of a site of grace. If you use Glintstone Arc, you can destroy multiple enemies at once. Then simply run back to the site of grace and repeat. Stay on Torrent so you don't get hit by the enemies.
Just played for 4 hours glad the difficulty is definitely still there and you gotta jump around areas to progress cause there is certain bosses you won’t kill at the get go 😆

My first souls experience and I loved it. I tend to go heavy on exploring first in open world rpg's, so there were only a few parts I had trouble with. Honestly the best gaming experience I've had in year's
I had the worst start. I went immediately to the dragon burned ruin and got caught by a teleporting trap. There I was in a crystal cave near a toxic swamp with enemy's way to strong and without horse, map or the ability to level up. It took me 3 hours to find the way back but I explored a good deal of the map I wouldn't have done otherwise :D
Just exploring I found a way completely around the castle so that was incredibly interesting. Only about 8 hours in currently, and there's so much to do so thank you for this video very helpful
@@shalom8858 you are doing exactly what I am doing I am 10 hours in and haven't even went to the Third Church. I am basically treating this game like I would if I were teleported into this land. And if that were the case I would be exploring finding cool new shit getting powerful and then absolutely destroy the tough guy on the Block. So that is exactly what I am doing and I am loving it this game is amazing
You should go through the castle still. Not only does it have useful boss drops, but the experience is AMAZING! It took me about 5 hrs to go thru it today. Good luck.
I'm now about 14 hours in, and had defeated Godric. I haven't even found a way to anywhere else, some side missions are fun and exploring has been a journey. There may a more "linear" way to play it so you don't end up in end game content, but finding the map under the map was interesting. I haven't explored that yet as I was too under leveled for it I felt but bless the scenery in this game is gorgeous. There's so much to do, so much to see, and honestly it's one of the best open world games I've played in years.
Its all about resource management. Get into the mindset that everything is a resource. Obviously your health and stamina are resources that you can clearly see deplete via meters but things like attack animations, the time it take for your weapon to finish its full animation after swinging is also a resource. Learning your weapons timing is all on you but if you feel comfortable with the timing just keep in mind that this game heavily discourages "overkill" dont spam 4 or 5 r1's and deplete your whole stamina bar for an enemy that you can see after the first hit that you take off more than half of their health. The key for a good mindset to have for pve is to think of everything as resources. You are pitting the number values of your character (the amount of stamina you have, your damage numbers) plus the time of your animations (weapon swings, dodge rolls, spell cast) against your enemy and the key is to not get locked into something that will deplete your resources more than it will deplete your opponents resources. Ie: 4 r1 swings on an enemy that would have taken 2 thus depleting your stamina and leaving you open for the next enemy to hit you.
Being completely honest, when I bought this game yesterday, I thought to myself that I made a mistake because I'm a very casual gamer and never played a Souls game before. I was convinced I wouldn't last 30 minutes without quitting and would die to the first enemy I encounter. Although the latter was true (I died to the scorpion-thing abomination that you encounter in the very first area), thanks to this guide I'm actually doing surprisingly well. Just finished an hour long session, and so far I died only once, and I think that I at least got a hang of the basics. Thank you for this guide, it really helped!

You are the first person I ran to the second I realized that I could not just Wing this game. All your guys have been so helpful for My many adventures in the Dark souls. I really appreciate you and all the time that you have spent sharing your knowledge and love for this game.
Super helpful already from the beginning as I just started playing and did everything upside down. Bandit with health keepsake, couldn't find the merchant or torrent, ended up stuck in a cave full of weird octopus things and a golem with no equipment... I kind of love this game.
Lol I love how you refer to character creation as the first boss. I musta spent an hour and a half making that guy and barely got to jump into gameplay the first night because of it.
Nice thanks, I couldn't even beat the last soldier with a confessor lol I had to go vagabond! This game is gonna be tuff! My first game like this though seems really fun
I've been watching your reviews since Castielle helped me with some Fallout 4 bugs, and have always been extremely satisfied with your reviews and breakdowns. Keep up the good work!
My favorite starter keep sake is the fanged imps. Once you are able to summon they are a solid summon up until the knights summon. They're pretty useful if you want to stagger and cause bleed on your enemies
Must start new character. You find a treasure in a cave, open it and then you are teleported somewhere else. Where the opponents are fiercely heavy. I think the first thing you should do is skill your character with runes. Then gradually further preparatory work. Each opponent must first be 😂😂😂 taken. Brilliant game.
@@EyEHaVeYoU11 unfortunately I ran into an area like this as well and if caught by a chest trap and teleported, your access to fast travel is blocked until you can escape the cave/dungeon, and get back out into an open area of the map.
If you sneak out you can find the rot dog ashes outside which are very handy since they can apply rot to bosses, this helped me finally beat tree sentinel
Started the game yesterday. I picked Samurai and tried to kill the tree sentinel right at the beginning. That didn’t go se well…haha Been killed so many times. As a newcomer to these games, it’s frustrating but it also allows you to come back and learn from mistakes. That’s really rewarding if you accept to die X times before you start to see the change in your actions. I restarted and picked the vagabond though. A good tip i could give every beginner. Been having much more survival on that class than on Samurai, cause it allows me to make more mistakes with its shield and big health pool.
For me, Fanged Imp Ashes are very much worth it as a starting gift. There's no other way I've found to obtain them, and they are highly aggressive and can keep bosses busy quite easily.

Hello Sir! Thanks for all you do for the community! Quick question: what stat do blood spells require? In the network test it was INT, then it got changed to Faith, and now I hear it’s Arcane??
Assuming it' the 3rd main school of magic a la glint sorcery for INT and prayers for FTH, I'm thinking it'll go toward ARC, especially since arcane's decrtiption straight up says it's used for some spells. No hard evidence yet tho
I've still got absoutley no idea how to play this game. I swear it's like in a movie when the 'nerd' talks about a game. This is literally Cones of Dunshire!
That Game Progress Route Wiki page was a life saver I never knew what to do first and would get wrecked in boss fights because I was underleveled but now I'm doing great.
Just curious but how up to date is the game progress route and NPC quest lines? I hate missing anything in these type of games and want to see everything this game has to offer all in one playthrough, minus the endings of course
Barely just started Elden Ring as my very first Souls game, going into it, I was very confused on what’s going on and barely I realized what’s happening, already I’m getting killed by enemies, it’s tough but i’ma keep trying
I’ve walked the country side for about 12 hours gathering, exploring, and fighting. Watching this video and dude teaches you where to get torch, mount, and meet the first spell girl. WOW I guess I missed those. 🤣🤣
You will definitely miss stuff blind, but these games are made for multiple playthroughs. If you want to go blind, do it. Then play through after with a completionist guide. I do that with every should like.

Do you have any tips on what some good settings are for the auto targeting. This is my first Souls game and I'm having a bit of trouble with the lock on or at least getting it to be a smoother experience.
I don’t have any settings tips but a general rule of thumb is that playing “locked on” a target will get you killed in a lot of group enemy settings if you stay auto targeting the whole time. Since DeS it’s always been very advantageous to learn how to play unlocked. You can really hit some crazy angles of attack when playing unlocked that enemy ai can’t react to and to novice PvPers looks like magic. Their is a fine line to toe between auto target and unlocked and you are going to have to figure that out yourself but once you learn it is so satisfying. I genuinely hope you have a blast with the game and don’t let the difficulty make you shy away from it. If you want someone to play with on Xbox add True Acez. I’ve been in the Souls Community for years and a lot of us are super eager to get newer players into the game. FromSoft games are just something else man and I really really hope you enjoy it. Have fun, expect to die a lot and get frustrated, learn from those mistakes or nothing will change and the cycle repeats, and when you first beat that boss that kicked your ass 10times Internalize that fucking epic feeling because thats what SoulsBorne and Elden Ring is all about.
Never played a souls game at all and Ive just started this, huge boss figures just walking about is very new to me... I'm not doing so well, there's so much to take in lol I'm overwhelmed as hell... I feel like I don't even know the basics and I've been r=to the church lol! I'm gonna stick at it, I'm sure I'll learn to love this massive game... thank you for the tips kind sir....
Decided to play this game blind knowing nothing just defeated both the main bosses at storm veil castle and this is my first Elden ring video to see how my start was
I have been watching these beginner guides to Elden Ring and trying to decide whether to play Elden Ring or get a root canal. I am leaning towards a root canal because it will be less painful. 😀
You guys and gals at FextraLife are amazing I have always used your DS3 wiki and now with Elden Ring. You guys are like my Witchers bestiary, helping me on the path. Keep doing great things, I am gonna be checking all the videos. If only you had a Andorid app for the wiki
I'm so happy this game can be an intro to fromsoft games for new players. It's such an amazing game and it really allows people to learn in a much more forgiving way than other souls games. My first was dark souls 2... The advice I read that helped me unlock the secrets was this: focus on timing, and memorization. Builds and items and stuff are important ofc, but memorizing where enemies are and their movements will make things so much easier; and along with that, learning how to correctly time your own movements accordingly. This was a complete game changer for me, and it's what the whole game is about imo. Hopefully someone else can benefit too
My first was DS2 too and only started a couple weeks ago. I had bought it a couple of years ago because it was the cheapest one on Steam, but gave up after half an hour because the controls were a nightmare (kbm). Couldn't figure out how to save changes to keybinds and the ludicrously high sensitivity. Honestly even the first couple of hours on my return were spent cursing how shit the UX was. I'm glad i persevered as I'm loving it. I'm basically finished it now (currently just spoke to that ancient dragon). I expect i will end up playing them all but I'm going with Elden Ring next.
Is Poise passive as it was in DS1, or does it only apply over heavy weapons as in DS3 again? I'm curious to know because I've only got access to some very mediocre heavier armor right now and even with all of it equipped, I get staggered from regular attacks unless I'm using a weapon art or heavy weapon...But I think I noticed a point in the video where your character took an arrow or two and wasn't? Do you just need a ridiculous amount of it?
I'm 2 years late but I bought the game when it came out without any understanding and this helped me after I learned the spirit blade class (currently >lvl50). Needless to say your guides and website is insanely helpful!
This game looks so amazing, but as a player that has never played these types of games. Its scary to jump in especially after knowing more about the game and all its secrets it has. I don't want to jump in and follow a guide and not have fun. Especially since in this game dieing is normal. I hate dieing in games.
That makes sense! Luckily this game seems to be more forgiving if you just want to explore and enjoy the world, as opposed to other souls-like games (which are linear). Best to keep in mind if you play Elden Ring is that dying is something to get used to, and the thrill of winning makes it all the better! Even if you're dying, you keep learning and you're doing GOOD, even if it doesn't feel like it! Just gotta keep your wits about you. Good luck! :)
Thanks again. This was super helpful; I am new to Dark Souls type games, and I wanted to play Elden Ring just tried it for the first time yesterday. Awesome guide thanks.
Well, I've taken the plunge and just bought this game on steam. This will be my first From game, hopefully not my last. Still can't decide on what playstyle I want to go with though.
@@garrettromer8499 I haven't noticed many problems. I don't have a great PC, I have a i7-8700 and a gtx1080, and only play in 1080 though. But settings are all high. A few stutters where it feels like the game paused on me, no crashes a few pop ins, stable fps.

This is the first souls like ive spent my own money on. I havent gotten far but i love the style of this game. Its very beautiful, and im glad the creators stayed true to their form and created a huge complex world full of mysteries to discover!
Was anyone else lost 2 minutes into this?
This applies to me, although I am tripping on shrooms, what's your excuse?😂
@@Trashy. Bro, if you dive into an Elden Ring guide while on shrooms, you'll basically be unlocking the game's hidden dimensions. Imagine every boss fight, every lore snippet, and every map detail coming to life like never before. The shrooms will heighten your senses and creativity, making the whole experience feel like an epic, mystical journey. Just be sure you're in a chill, safe spot so you can fully vibe with the adventure!
yes, he’s not very direct with where to go, i tried to follow and have been getting my ass kicked😭
Me here, maybe the creator doesn’t care about what beginners means. I didn’t understand anything….
Absolutely
If you're not turned off by grinding, there are a few spots where you can farm runes. Agheel Lake South has a continuous battle southwest of a site of grace. If you use Glintstone Arc, you can destroy multiple enemies at once. Then simply run back to the site of grace and repeat. Stay on Torrent so you don't get hit by the enemies.
Just played for 4 hours glad the difficulty is definitely still there and you gotta jump around areas to progress cause there is certain bosses you won’t kill at the get go 😆
I agree I played the game for a few hours and it still retains the difficulty of the previous souls games that I played. I see some clowns on the internet going on about how this game is easy compare to the previous souls games ? Whats with them ?
@@dhaumyagango1076 not sure but I’ve played and beaten all the souls games and bloodbourne and I still think elden ring at least at the start has been as hard as any souls game to date so far . I’m definitely in for hours of gameplay. I’m brand new to the souls games and I find it pretty damn hard already but I did find that enemies are tethered to their specific area so if I struggle with certain enemies I’ll just draw them out and kill them at range.
Hopefully they fix that because it's pretty much cheating
@@riffrider_ No it’s not. Every souls game ever will have the enemy stop chasing after a bit. It’s no different here.

You can teleport from the camp fires
Just exploring I found a way completely around the castle so that was incredibly interesting. Only about 8 hours in currently, and there's so much to do so thank you for this video very helpful
Yea I’m 12 hours in and never even got the horse yet. I went in completely blind and loving just exploring. 🤣
I found the way around after I beat godrick or whatever. I wonder if you can go that way before the bosses
This being the first souls game I’m actually going to play I think it’s so crazy how OPEN the world truly is. It’s crazy
First Soulslike game, been playing all day. Getting my arse kicked.
Definitely need to get used to the controls/timing with weapons.
Awesome game!!

@@mikedodson4595 same lol, first soul games it's been pretty tough but enjoying it so far
So.... basically just stop watching this video and just go to the wiki page. Nice. Amazing guide. 👏

My favorite starter keep sake is the fanged imps. Once you are able to summon they are a solid summon up until the knights summon. They're pretty useful if you want to stagger and cause bleed on your enemies
I've beaten Dark Souls I and Elden Ring and still didn't know about many of these tips. Geez so helpful
Same happen to me u just find one of the save spots open ur map and u can fast travel back out .
@@EyEHaVeYoU11 unfortunately I ran into an area like this as well and if caught by a chest trap and teleported, your access to fast travel is blocked until you can escape the cave/dungeon, and get back out into an open area of the map.
I ran out that cave if you sneak you can get past everyone done pick up anything just sneak out
If you sneak out you can find the rot dog ashes outside which are very handy since they can apply rot to bosses, this helped me finally beat tree sentinel
literally just find grace if you get sent to caelid.
For someone who has never had experience with souls type games, this is the best guide. I NEEDED THIS. Thank you
Not much experience in souls games so I went pure magic with astrologer, so far I’m having a blast. I’ve beat a couple bosses including margit.
Started the game yesterday. I picked Samurai and tried to kill the tree sentinel right at the beginning.
That didn’t go se well…haha
Been killed so many times.
A tipp for people who didn’t play any dark souls typ of games earlier: do not attack the npc

Hello Sir! Thanks for all you do for the community! Quick question: what stat do blood spells require?
In the network test it was INT, then it got changed to Faith, and now I hear it’s Arcane??
Without playing the full game, im gonna just say yes.
Just checked out fex wiki. Arcane seems to be the biggest stat governing bleed, but blood sorcery suggests it will require int. Hope this helped
*Bless us with blood
Int but check the requirements for each spell Individualy to be safe
Assuming it' the 3rd main school of magic a la glint sorcery for INT and prayers for FTH, I'm thinking it'll go toward ARC, especially since arcane's decrtiption straight up says it's used for some spells. No hard evidence yet tho

dont worry about messing up in your first blind playthrough. With enough grinding you'll be strong enough to eventually finish the game

You guys and gals at FextraLife are amazing I have always used your DS3 wiki and now with Elden Ring. You guys are like my Witchers bestiary, helping me on the path. Keep doing great things, I am gonna be checking all the videos. If only you had a Andorid app for the wiki
1:56 That's so weird to me how a core mechanic of the game can only be done if you go to a little chest under a ruin.
I had a fun experience of missing this lol
I’m returning after a year of not playing it’s like all knowledge and bosses have left my memory feel like a new player again
Who’s here after coming back to the game and forgetting how to play
Jesus, this is like trying to learn Chinese
Is Poise passive as it was in DS1, or does it only apply over heavy weapons as in DS3 again? I'm curious to know because I've only got access to some very mediocre heavier armor right now and even with all of it equipped, I get staggered from regular attacks unless I'm using a weapon art or heavy weapon...But I think I noticed a point in the video where your character took an arrow or two and wasn't? Do you just need a ridiculous amount of it?
Every single thing you said I figured out on my own in the first few hours. Game much hard wow
I'm 2 years late but I bought the game when it came out without any understanding and this helped me after I learned the spirit blade class (currently >lvl50). Needless to say your guides and website is insanely helpful!
How good are bows in Elden Ring?
This will be my first souls game. I hope I don’t rage quit before I get my money worth

I really suggest buying one of the other titels first. It's cheaper and most likely not as bland as Elden ring is.
Lol oh you will!!
Good luck! :)
