Just started reading Miss Morissa and everything I’ve come across regarding Mari Sandoz and her writing is evident in this book. In a word, captivating. Loving this book and contemplating which of hers to read next.
I had been seeing Old Jules at books sales for decades, and finally picked up a copy last year. Hooked-completed hooked by Mari's skill as a story teller and the gracefulness of her writing. This summer at a junk shop, I got lucky and found about six of her books, and I've bought several more since. Mari Sandoz is a truly outstanding writer.
I wish each book was made a movie, then we'd have the truth of pioneer life and the raw thrill of the experience. If someone could capture the part of "Old Jules" when she was a little girl driving that wagon across the prairie at break neck speed with snake bit Jules in the wagon searching for help,WOW!
We don't have that entire video available online; however, here is a full-length program where we interviewed Mari Sandoz that is available on our website: nebraskapublicmedia.org/en/series-media/non-series-video/mari-sandoz-her-life-and-work-41084901/

I love her books! I wish I could have met her, but she was gone before my time.
