If you pop a hole in the top of the filter itll drain into the engine and make less mess. A&P and J owner

Nicely done. I must admit my Statesman doesn’t have that many screws underneath…

Love videos like this, instead of just flying here and there. The shoes blowing off the wing is the best part. Put red RTV on corner of filter where safety wire rubs it, filters pulsate from oil pump and wire will cut through canister. Get the STC for 100UL, engine and “oil change” will last twice as long.

Your M20R looks great! Where do you usually order the parts when needed? I'm in the Asia region, owning a Mooney built in 1995. It's challenging to get information here! 😢

Very satisfying to watch. I just bought my Ovation a few months ago and have yet to do my own oil change. Maybe soon though...

Really enjoyed the video and like how you were able to do it by yourself even with the three blade prop.

Great video. What did you pre-oil on the filter? Isn't the Tempest supposed to be installed clean and dry?

    • @flytavo

Some say don’t pre-oil others say to do it. I followed the advice of my trusted mechanic.
One thing missing from the video is the 1”
torque tool to tighten the filter. For that I followed the directions on the filter.
      Thanks for the comment.

@@flytavo my understanding is that the Champion filter gets pre-oiled and the Tempest does not. +1 to using a torque wrench!
