Honestly one of my favorite things about this album is how Hamauzu really tries to transform all the source material into music written for piano (an idiomatic interpretation if you will), instead of just slapping the original material onto a piano and calling it a job well done. Honestly most piano arrangements these days still don’t match up to just how well these were done. The manipulation and evolution of the original material into these new interpretations really are brilliant. The first time I sat at a piano and sight-read through the Hamauzu arrangements of the tracks he composed I nearly cried, ha! I’ll never be over the Besaid one in particular, as it’s just an incredibly sophisticated interpretation of the thematic material done in a really interesting manner!
I feel some of the other piano collections also did this very well - X-2's improvised and jazzy roots were incredibly refreshing, as were XII's distinctly modern takes.
"There are many people here who do play the piano. To these people, these piano arrangements then doesn't only worth at listening to, but also reading the score." I thank you for this nice idea, in the meantime i want to tell you not only piano players can enjoy reading a score xD friendly reminder xD
@@pedropereira9594 Yes, I've seen a bit of his. I think it's too much for me to take in; just scrolling sheet music seems best for some reason, or scrolling sound fonts. I think my favorite in-time visualizer is Kuroneko SPC player. That only plays 8-channel-max, 16-bit style music, but within that constraint it can do some amazing things, as hgr128 demonstrates.
These scrolling videos are totally amazing ! "To these people, these piano arrangements then doesn't only worth at listening to, but also reading the score" totally agree ! ;)
I can't possibly express my love for this project of yours. Very much appreciated. Totally learning these along with operas when I save up for a nifty piano. These are absolute magic. Thank you so much. P.S. Any love for Guitar collections too?
I can tell that this person stopped uploading these a looong time ago, and this playlist for FF is actually kinda long, yet it feels like so many other piano collections from the game are missing from these. Im not sure if this channel is really considered active anymore, but if this comment can still be seen, Id love for more scrolling/listening arrangements like these! Since these videos cover so little of the music in each game, Id love to see more videos of each from XIV, IV, X-X2, XI, etc. (Like as in pt.2 /vol.2, and so on). Since there are other collections I want to play but it is very difficult to find the right arrangement for it, and I find these videos very helpful!
A pretty sharp time you find me... the project started for two weeks and PC:FFX is just out ;) I love the game too, its plot and setting, and especially its opening is extremely attractive to me.
really nice coincidence :D. Yea FFX is one of the best games ever made. In my opinion "THE" best game. Love it and spend more than 400 hours into it. Final Fantasy Music is so beautiful.
I've been studying Yun'as Decision and its definitley bad written (or bad played). On the first trills the left hand should play Bb low but the recording plays Ab. And in 42:20 its written to play C octave on LH but it sounds Eb octave. Really weird.
@@agustinguzzo1243 I also noticed on FFIX Daguerreo arrangement, 4 measures before the section that starts with a Gb arpegiated chord: on the first repetition the harmony is Bb7 but in the second repetition the sheet music says to play G on the bass, and the recording plays Bb again. I prefere the G on the bass followed by an Ab note, which sounds really cool changing a bit the mood of the theme.
@@agustinguzzo1243 nice research. Probably the scores are correct, I think the interpreters missed a few things, what is written feels more like the style of the arrangers like Shiro Hamaguchi and (I think it is him) Mashasi Hamauzu for FFX.
Thanks Ikram, I've been waiting a long time for a channel like this! Can I ask you how you edit these videos? Are you using a specific software for the scrolling effect?
Still a pleasure to watch these videos !What did you think about the last Piano Opera (VII/VIII/IX). I didn't like it that much, for some reasons :1- The tracklist ! There are too much battle themes and too well-known or already-arranged themes. They could have done different songs2- The arrangements in theirselves. There are not a lot of differents moods, and I don't know why but I really find more soul in Piano Collection arrangements than in the Piano Opera one
+Théophile Richart I kind of see what you mean, but the other 2 had a lot of less well-known ones so I suppose it was a bit fair to do more popular ones. That being said, some from the album aren't as well known; I've never seen much love given to Interrupted by Fireworks or Those Who Fight Further, for example.
A few of the pieces really don't feel right. Assault in particular irks me because it sounds way too goddamn happy and nothing like the original other than the pattern. Ah well, still good.
FF-X OST album is truly a masterpiece. I still get chills everytime I listen to Via Purifico.
“Isn’t It Wonderful?” is jaw dropping.

I always wondered what it was about this collection that was so "right." Thanks for the explanation. Someone worked hard to make it so!
Incredibly well said. So happy to have these collections. They deserved this treatment!
