The theme music still sends a tingle down my spine. This series definitely has an affinity with the Michael Caine cult movie Get Carter, revenge being the the central theme.
As far as british gangsters films go....you cant top tom bell in this slow burn of a mini series! actors from long good friday, performance, get carter, and minder! love it!!
underestimated series about the morals between cops and robbers with a great plot and acting from Tom Bell and introducing the brilliant Brian Cox as arch gangster Tony McGrath!-a sequel was planned and never made
"If I want shit from you, I'll squeeze your head". Saw this when I was 17 when it fist aired. I can't remember the number of times I've used that line!!
Sometimes being a bystander is the best alibi. As long as you look like one. Just love the cast all the way through. Coxy is of course Swiss Tony McGrath.

have been watching this over past few weeks on TPTV. haven't seen since 1978.I think this was Euston Film's follow up after the Sweeney finished?. MUCH prefer this to that, the standard of acting is EXCELLENT, especially Tom Bell in title role.Technically the print or whatever they are using is FAR superior to the episodes of The Sweeney that ITV 4 keep on regurgitating ad nausium and we even get to see, in this episode, Brian Croucher's arse!. Does it get better than THAT??. Strange as it might seem, showing male nudity always seemed to give a far more realistic portrayal of criminal men back then.WHAT KIND of cockney hardman/thug would wear undies in bed with his missus or hide behind a duvet as he tumbles out of bed when the Met put the door in @ 6a.m.?.GREAT plot, cast, tech AND nostalgia.Only realised that TPTV were showing it when i stumbled across it a few weeks back so will catch up with the first few episodes here on YT. Doesn't this drama just go to show how far British TV has fallen?.
This is seriously one of my favorite series of all time when it comes to british gangster TV series like sweeney and fox and of course minder. Frank Ross is literally the badass mofo that everybody wishes he was
shows how dated it is . that so say hit man . what a fucking joke . left his prints over the car . yea right . . a hit man turns up in a valxwagon car . yea right .
@28:30, Zans Snooker Hall, Tooting - Jimmy White's local. My mum worked in there, during the 1970s.
Great show, loved it in the 70s when it first came out, just as good now!
