A brilliant drama series made in an era when television was a pleasure to watch as opposed to all this reality tv bullshit that we are overwhelmed with. I hardly ever watch the terrestrial to channels as it is all crP except for good dramas still on the BBC but anything else I used to buy off Amazon similar series like this one or I watch them on RUclips as is the case now. Thank you so much for letting us all re-live and enjoy to at it's best.

Yep! I'll drink to that! Comedy, mystery and cop shows like the Sweeney are the best.; Life on Mars was a pleasant surprise and Ashes to Ashes, all based on the time period these great shows are from. At the same time, dealing with the law then was not as pleasant! So glad there are on YT, I won't pay for cable and the commercials it was created to avoid!

Those TV companies had the monopoly on ad revenue though. Today its a fragmented market hence cheap reality TV

a gem of a sadly short lived series from a bygone British age!

utterly brilliant! i was too young for this back in 78(13 years old) i remember it being on and the graffiti in london and its great to watch it now as a 55 year old, superb acting, great cars and a brilliant snapshot of england in the late 70's, imagine ITV showing something as good as this now? i mean there are still very good dramas on today but they are the exception not the rule, from tellys golden age, superb, thanks very much

Nice example of a Jaguar 420g in this episode. This is series has a lot of overtones of Minder which would come out the following year.

amugen the jaguar 420g was my dads and it was hired to the production crew for 2 weeks in 1978.
He always mentioned it to me but I've only just looked this show up and found it!

I was actually looking for Bell's "Hope It Rains", because I can't find it on DVD, and this popped up. I was well aware of the works of Tom Bell........except for this one. Wow, how did I miss this? Well, any of us over here in America, that love British drama and comedy, really have to work overtime to find all this good stuff; so it takes a while. And lookie here at a young Brian Cox! LOL!!! Thanks, that was great. Watched all six episodes in one evening. RIP Tom

Bloody brilliant! What a series this was. Never saw the full series, but now have. Tom Bell played Frank Ross to perfection. What happened to this quality of drama? I am so sick and tired of watching soft pap crap acted series, and reality television garbage. This series was made in an era when fine actors, decent story lines, and real dramas were the best. Drama's like these hooked you in early, and you could not drop watching them all the way through. This was the way of it in the days of decent dramas. Thanks for putting this series on You Tube again. I really enjoyed it.

Hasn't lost a whit of its impact in 40 years. I saw it as a pimply teen in 1978, and Frank Ross scared the shit out of me then, and he's doing the same four decades later! Utter brilliance. Euston Films were on a roll then with this, The Sweeney and Minder.

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
