Dual-Stream Collection with a Rapid Rail | Garbage Truck at Work

- Before Recology had completed its purchase of North Bay/Redwood Empire Disposal, we had gone back out to film some of the trucks before they were all rebranded to Recology Sonoma Marin. One of the trucks we found was this split Rapid Rail on trash and yard waste. Fortunately, we were able to add a GoPro to this truck to film a little part of route.
This truck does have a divider down the entire body of the truck, separating the organics from the landfill trash and otherwise preventing it from mixing. This is why this truck is picking up both streams. The hopper in this truck is designed to move from side to side and is moved after each can is picked up to the correct side by the driver.

Oh boy, almost missed the upload deadline for this one! Only 1 hour and 30 minutes to spare. I had some trouble with this video, but I promise I will be continuing my current upload schedule.
Thank you all for watching and commenting!
fast orange man
He moves.
This was probably the best view point you could have chosen! Love this video! Definitely miss these sick north bay trucks. Excellent work!
Glad you enjoyed it! I had to get in one last hurrah for North Bay before it was gone forever. It worked out well!
mint toyota pickup at 4:41
Reminds me of a certain Toyota pickup I know of.....
wow super truck footage
Thank you very much!
It’s about time you upload something different
Sorry my commercial rear load, Curotto Cans, McNeilus Recycler, Labrie ASL, Amrep ASL, and 310 Front Loaders from the last few weeks wasn't enough variety. I will work on that in the future for my videos.
Great Video! Loved the camera angle!
Glad you enjoyed it
That's one nice sounding truck bro! Great video! :)
Run Nick run! Wow going back to the suburban days are we? Lol, nice video. I’m assuming that this was a Volvo by the sound of the break release? Also gotta love the mixture of carts that just swarm the north bay lol. Nice work!
Yes and yes! lol. It's from a long time ago....
oh yes i was planning on doing this to our volvo WXLL down here, but I figured that CWS doesn't allow cameras on their trucks smh
That's a shame, it is always hard to find someone to allow a camera on the truck. It always boils down to liability if the camera breaks. No matter if you tell them if you don't mind if it gets damaged, they don't want to have to buy a new camera. I know Recology wouldn't let me stick any camera on the trucks, I was lucky to get a yes before the company officially transitioned from North Bay to Recology.
@@cagarbagetrucks yes it comes down to liability. i tried asking one of the RR drivers down here, and he said he can't because of liability. i'll see if I can coherence a supervisor in letting me do it someday, considering literally almost all of the veteran drivers/supervisors know me
What kind of mount did you ise
This was done with a GoPro Suction Cup Mount I believe. You can also order after market magnetic mounts for this purpose as well.
@@cagarbagetrucks I’m worried about it not holding up also if I want to mount a GoPro hero 7 in a heil starr hopper what kind of mount do you recommend
I don't have any links to any mounts handy, but I would just search around Amazon for one. Since a Heil Starr has a metal hopper, you can use a magnet mount or adhesive mount. It is risky to mount cameras anywhere on these trucks and I have lost cameras doing these videos before. I would recommend trying any mount you use before putting onto a truck to make sure you are comfortable with the strength of the magnet.
Nice upload. You might enjoy my videos
