Not sure how many people will recognize Atrak. The prodigy DMC World Champ DJ that ended up being Kanye's dj at the intro of the song. TBH it was really unexpected to see him in this. Had no clue. Just jamming out to some 90's alt rock playlist.
Man been trying to get the name of this song for years since hearing in the actual year 2000 - forgot to save or screenshot it by then when once I came across It but randomly comes up as RUclips recommendation….. phewww 😮 I can finally sleep tonight.
Let´s agree that the children of 70,80, 90´s had a much better LIFE !!!! no freakin cells, tik tok copycat , facebook fake friends. etc..... like if u agree :)
I remember being 19 and out on the lake with my friends listening to this song, this is still so magical 21 years later, miss those days not a care in the world
Hi Corrine i feel you i was 17 at the time this classic came out! Hot summer days and beautiful cool jewelled evenings chilling drinking with friends in Liverpool UK 🍻🍺🍸🍹🍾🍷🥃☀️😎👌✌.
Hi my name is stereo Mike Yeah, we got free tickets to the Bran Van concert Happening this Monday night at the Pacific Coliseum You can all call in if you want to answer a couple of questions, mainly, what is Todd's favorite cheese? Ah, Jackie just called in and said it was a type of Rockford, whatever that is Give us a ring-a-ding-ding, it's a beautiful day Yeah Todd, this is Liquid ring-a-ding-dinging I want those free Bran Van tickets man What do you think? Todd? (He's alive Mike, alive, Todd) I woke up again this morning with the sun in my eyes When Mike came over with a script surprise A mafioso story with a twist A To Wong Fu-Julie Newmar Hitch "Get your ass out of bed" he said, "I'll explain it on the way" But we did nothing, absolutely nothing that day And I say, what the hell am I doing drinking in L.A. at twenty-six? I got the fever for the flavour The payback will be later But still I need a fix And the girls on the bus kept laughing at us As we rode on the 10 down to Venice again Blaring out the g-funk sipping on juice and gin Just me and a friend feeling kind of groovy, workin' on a movie (yeah, right) But we did nothing, absolutely buttkiss that day And I'll say, what the hell am I doing drinking in L.A. at twenty-six? We had the conclusion and I guess that's something So I ask you what the hell am I doing drinking in L.A. at twenty-six? I got the fever for the nectar, the payback will be later Still I need a fix Hell-A-L.A., hell hell-A.L.A Hell-A-L.A., hell hell-A.L.A Hell-A-L.A., hell hell-A So I ask you what the hell am I doing drinking in L.A. at twenty-six? (He's alive Mike, alive) L.A., L.A.
...tan acertado!...y fue hace menos de treinta años...había violencia, tecnología, tristeza pero como que algunos valores y sueños se quedaron en ese tiempo...es muy raro y conmovedor...
Wow... the nostalgia!!! I was a kid in the 80's and a teen in the 90's and wouldn't have it any other way!! If this doesn't prove that RUclips is in fact a time machine, i don't know what does!!
I hold this up as the best song of the 90s. Got the classic beautiful hip hop chorus of the likes of 'Ready or Not' or 'Ms Jackson' , the vocal harmonies of a 'C U Whem You Get There', the world weary stoner verses of an early Eels/Weezer track and some awesome grunge guitar distortion. It's a 90s nostalgia goldmine.
@@davenotdoug8394 Love this track and the lyrics but Pulp's Common People is the standout track of the 90s for me. It just drips irony and sarcasm. To non-UK watchers - search out the full version with the 'Like a dog lying in a corner' verse - which is missing from the video edit.
Almost everyone says that about when they were born, which proves when you're younger you perceive things through rose-tinted spectacles (not a bad thing).
You aren't aloud to put sellotape over the cassette and wait for a good song to come on the radio to record it ! If Taylor Swift was to heat about this 🙆♀️
Great song, but it's too bad that Bran Van doesn't acknowledge the actual singer of the chorus, Stéphane Moraille. She's not featured in the video, not was she included for their tour. Sad.
I loved this when it first came out and I'm now 61 and getting tickets to the next Bran Van concert....oh ya...still rockin'...I got the fever for the flavour...down to Venice again. Ya right.
I bet this song truly captured the essence of life for those who went to LA back in those days so they could pursue an acting or writing career only to spend time doing buttkiss those days then ginned out at Trader Vic's.
Coming from Los Angeles, I felt proud of the song in a funny way. Later on after buying the album, I realized how unique Bran Van 3000 are. The Forest may be my favorite song from them off the same album
I remember when my mom drove to school and in 98.5 FM in Mexico every morning put this greate song, every day I close my eyes and I remember this greate feeling.
here my little story for you I had only came across this song last night loved it right away but the funny thing is I want to travel from New Zealand to USA to go to L.A just to drink as I happen to be 26 currently
The sad thing about this song, it marked the end of 1995- 1997 in the UK (the last golden age), end of uni and there's something nostalgic but melancholic about the tune at the same time.
Was 27 when this came out . Was living in Toronto and did my fair share of drinking back then! Thankfully the club I went to was a 2 block stumble home!!
Lost my best friend on August 1, 2022 and I play this and immediately thought of him. I miss you Vince.
...lo siento mucho ☹️
me too.
I have been playing this and the Glee album a lot just lately. Really brilliant music. I always loved them but even more so now.
One of the most beautiful and original videos ever...
ONE OF THE BEST '90s SONGS, J'ADORE, OH OUI!

Epic......
Drugs are bad, still a good song
BTW this was 1997.
Было время.....
its clear they were just trying to emulate early Beck.
ARANCIONE!!! NO BLU

Wish that I was one of the friends who was with you at the lake. I know and love the feeling that you describe.
Yeah same here, summer in Dublin Ireland. Down on the beach with my friends listening to this. Aaaaahhhh love it

WHAT THE... I cannot believe I forgot about this song for years and here I am back at it almost crying!!!
Glad you found it again 😄
i found this randomly on spotify and i'm in love forgetting the 90s one hit wonder alongside tubthumping and i'm too sexy for my shirt
I can n believe it
This song has something special
its melanchonic

It's a 90s nostalgia goldmine.
I never even heard this song til this year, and I still get super nostalgic listening to it
Maybe not the best, considering that the UK had some very, very good bands of that era (Blur, Oasis, Pulp etc), but certainly worth listening to.
@@davenotdoug8394 Love this track and the lyrics but Pulp's Common People is the standout track of the 90s for me. It just drips irony and sarcasm. To non-UK watchers - search out the full version with the 'Like a dog lying in a corner' verse - which is missing from the video edit.
@@Veyron1967Yup... ^THIS^
But I frikkin love this just as much... 😊
hi this is stereo mike
I am so glad I was a teen in the 90's. Best years, best music, best clothes, best hairstyles.
It truly was a special time man, we had the best of everything for sure. I miss it.
Almost everyone says that about when they were born, which proves when you're younger you perceive things through rose-tinted spectacles (not a bad thing).
Almost right - but the 80's were still better;)
And a lot of more natural than today !! ❤
@@Blinkoflove76 and less natural than the decades before it. the cycle continues
This song still holds up 25+yrs later! Been blessed to be rocking this for 25+yrs! 🙏🙏🙏
A great Canadian band out of Montreal, such a great music city!!!
I remember my sister had this song recorded off the radio with a cassette and we played it for months in 1997
You aren't aloud to put sellotape over the cassette and wait for a good song to come on the radio to record it ! If Taylor Swift was to heat about this 🙆♀️
Year I was born lol
This song Is mágic, when i listen it i feel like im in a dream
The greatest most heartbreaking 90s nostaligia tune
Just realized I was singing:
"What the hell am I doing drinking in a lake"
..for the last 20 years.
Eso denota que eres alguien genial, y punto.
Me ..reading all the comments ..it gets very nostalgic!
Great song, but it's too bad that Bran Van doesn't acknowledge the actual singer of the chorus,
Stéphane Moraille. She's not featured in the video, not was she included for their tour. Sad.
Flashback bitching track from the 90's
Was there then and still here today at 65yrs. Happy New Year Bran Van 3000, 2023!❤❤❤
@claireellis8242 Indeed we did.
"Feeling kinda grovy workin on a movie. Yeah right!" Classic. Just love the lyrics and the production.
I loved this when it first came out and I'm now 61 and getting tickets to the next Bran Van concert....oh ya...still rockin'...I got the fever for the flavour...down to Venice again. Ya right.

Flamin' brilliant. Top tune.
Reminds me of my son Mike in Shanghai. Miss him so much.
Hello to all you fellow time travellers living in 1999 again
🥰 c' la meilleur 🎉
I remember this song with my belated Sister Jody and Belated ex Finace............my circle. Rest in peace my people.
Sums a big bad world, where ego and greed allways come into, amazing song very impressed.
I bet this song truly captured the essence of life for those who went to LA back in those days so they could pursue an acting or writing career only to spend time doing buttkiss those days then ginned out at Trader Vic's.
For the life of me I do not know why this track did not get bigger.
It did. Doesn’t take views.. this song brought me up so many times.. and did again today.. our view on what is “big” can be skewed..
Basically the whole “glee” album kicked ass.
Canadian band. It was a bit hit in Canada and the UK in the late 90s, but Canadian bands often struggle to break singles in the US.
@@MusicVersa remember Sum 41? at least he that dude got Avril Lavigne, definitely the silver lining of being a washed up one hit wonder
@@joedarrow5422 Sum 41 were also not a one-hit wonder in Canada - they were big here for the better part of a decade.
So many 90s vids are tripped out for no reason ;) haha.. I love it
Maybe because xtc was damn fricking good in the 90's.... I miss the 90's 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
This whole album was the soundtrack to my senior year of high school. So many amazing memories and this song just hits all the feels❤
Props to 101.7 WFNX in Boston for putting me onto this song back in the day. #RIP
Flashpoint922 FACT!!!! such a special little station. I worked there briefly towards the end.
Coming from Los Angeles, I felt proud of the song in a funny way. Later on after buying the album, I realized how unique Bran Van 3000 are. The Forest may be my favorite song from them off the same album
They are a Canadian band, I am Canadian but have really good friends that moved to LA. This song reminds of many times I spent with them.
Its actually about longueuil.
Any chance you could re-upload this in the correct *ASPECT RATIO* ?? Please, thanks!!
I can honestly say I was drinking in LA at 26 years old! Love from the UK 🇬🇧
First heard this track in the UK at 22-ish, but never drinking in LA or anywhere! 😉👍

BEST OF '90!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the 90's is calling me back
me still in 2024,smoking,drinking,snorting but not injecting....the last breath i wanna take is a hit from a joint
To be a teenager of the 90s......
Reminds me of the summer the same year my first girlfriend gave me the Spanish archer

This is a treasure for me. Great song, nice memories...
Has to be the best summer song that year
I was in 8th grade when this song came out. I had no idea that the lady in the viking helmet would shape my taste in women for the next 20 years.
I play this all the time haha SO good still!
Montréal baby!
Incredible song. I miss the 90’s and the shiniest biggest songs be written all the time. 🤟🏻
Young A-Track at the beginning, so talented even at this young age!

apparently the song was originally "what the hell am I doing drinking in Longeuil"
So great to see this in HD. But why the off colors and not the original? Anyway still good to see this. Well, back to smoking my opium.

Glee was one of the best albums to come out of this era.
no relation to the tv musical of the same name on fox
At LAX, sitting in the 1st class lounge. This had to be played. One love people X
