@@SVTONICBoatWives On enquiring if they could facilitate a Custom lead wing keel, they responded with only a standard not very shallow shoal draft was available, and clearly weren’t interested in supplying what a customer needed for a sailboat based in the Caribbean - I didn’t even get to the point of a enquiring for an ICW bridge height compliant Mast Height. Hi there, it’s me fussy pants Bob again. There are some points in favour of the aft cockpit grill.but personally I much prefer to have side rails of Stainless steel tubes to the Stanchions instead of wires, which allow secure and safe mounting of a proper gas fired BBQ, which means I can make full use of a high quality Smoker Box ? The difference is phenomenal and you can use both the various types of wood chips that are available, along with wood chunks you can get from Driftwood on pretty much any Beach ? Smoked Hot Dogs alone are worth the difference, then you can add smoked Cheese, smoked meats, and hot smoked fish to kill all the damned parasites that are in Raw Fish. The flavours are to absolutely Die for, can you get them with that aft Cockpit Grill ?nope hou can’t. To be honest, there is a large electric George Foreman Grill, I’d rather have on the Cockpit table, to do Panini ham, cheese etc hot cooked rolls with tbh. Apologies for being a fussy pants again, but I really like tasty food. Dad watched the film about a Chef doing a food wagon Tour doing Panini Rolls, said those look really good, so I found a George Foreman Grill that could do them easily, so bought one, and it was brilliant. Could do them sort of in those rear cockpit grills, but not both sides at once ? Y the look of it, and two sides at once seems to be important.🤔 There’s still a lot to like about the 41, and especially the 44, and it’s a damned shame I can’t get one of the 44’s to fit what I need. Looks like I’ll be getting something from Beneteau Group to be honest. Best Wishes, Fair Winds and Safe Travels. I enjoy your tours, but let’s be honest, it is only nuances that differentiate one forty foot boat from another and many nuances can probably be changed with options. What I have realised is that no matter how big, or how much money you spend on a production sailing boat you don’t get more refinement by spending more money - you just get more gadgets. With production motor vehicles, the more you spend, the quieter is the engine and the more refined is the ride. With production sailboats, no matter how much money you spend, the rattle of the diesel engine is ever present and the ride is always creaky. Just how much do you have to spend to get comfort AND refinement?
Hallberg-Rassy, Oyster, Amel, Contest, Hylas, Island Packet, Nordship, Allures, Garcia... Ride is not creaky with any of these boats, because systems are tabbed into the hull and not just dropped in as modules. Hull/deck joints are continuous or at the very least much more stout. I've been in an Amel in 30kt winds and it's as quiet as a library. As with cars, higher build quality costs more money.

Do the fittout yourself as I am is one option. I’m getting my head around a lifting keel that was intergral in the build.
Cheers

Sadly this is true and I think twice the amount will get the refinement mentioned, from what I have seen
Dufour don’t do a lifting keel do they?
