This is it, the full-time van life dream is starting. We are moving into the camper van and heading out of the country on a one-way ticket. In this van life vlog, we leave our apartment and pack the van, ready for a winter van life adventure. We hadn't originally intended to live in the van full time but after getting close to buying a house, we have decided that we want to enjoy this lifestyle to the full before we settle down.

⭐ About Travel Beans:
Welcome to the official Travel Beans RUclips channel! On this channel, you’ll find a variety of travel and vlog content, in which you’ll see us in places like Thailand, Japan, USA, Slovenia, and more.
In 2017 we left home with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a sustainable travel lifestyle happen! We are now living our dream as digital nomads and want to inspire you to create your own story, whatever it may be!
After 5 years of aimless, yet enjoyable, backpacking around the world we found ourselves in New York City battling with depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head-on. After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle.
Our time spent battling depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. In our vlogs, we talk openly and honestly about our travel experiences, the digital nomad life and depression. We hope our videos can help to inspire you to create a life that makes you happy!

Hiya guys, most dehumidifier bags are filled with silica gel. I used to sell silica gel and most was bought for caravans over winter to prevent mould forming. The thing with silica gel is it works really well in a sealed environment where it can gradually absorb the moisture in that area and then ideally no more moisture will enter. They don't work very well for heavy saturated areas as they absorb quickly and then reach saturation point. You can put the loose beads on a baking tray in an oven for a couple of hours at 120°c to re dry them back out but realistically you might need to be doing this every few days. I had to go to great lengths to double bag the silica to prevent an open atmosphere getting to my stock as it will just keep absorbing till saturated. In a damp car where the doors get opened and closed it would probably reach saturation in a couple of days. The normal silica is orange and when saturated turns green to let you know it needs drying. If you do go down this route you might be better buying in large quantities of the loose orange beads as I think your be surprised how quickly it reaches saturation point and then it cannot absorb any more water. Hope this helps. You might be better with an electric dehumidifier.
My mom who passed away in 2020 was English, she moved to the United States many years ago. After drinking or eating something exceptionally good she would always say “ahh Bisto” I never knew what that meant until today! Gravy granules, who knew?!?! Thank you for making my day! I genuinely enjoy watching all your adventures. I’ve even talked my husband into purchasing a camper van when our son finishes college 😎 We plan on visiting all the national parks in the US.
Good for you guys..in 2018 I quit my job , bought a camper and travelled around Europe for 6 months..the best time of my life
You two are SO lucky to find each other - you have an enviable relationship!! Looking forward to the next series of videos!
We fell very lucky to have each other 🥰
A bottle and a bag.
Hello from "New England" here in America 🇺🇸.... yea I was literally just about 2 say as well you guys are lucky 2 have eachother because it is soooooo difficult finding someone that's really willing to do something like this. Make money online n TRAVELTRAVELTRAVEL!!! GL 2 both of u!

Looking forward with much anticipation to this Beans on the road. Really hope the Omicron situation does not throw a spanner in the works.
Just another virus.

We're just in the midst of planning our own 5 month van trip. To make even more room in the small cupboards we find that rolling up our t-shirts and smaller items helps to pack them even tighter and also helps to reduce wrinkles.
11:20 I like to think Alex just sat there filming the entire night until you turned the light back on again
I’m envious of you two setting off on a one way adventure. Seems like an eternity since we lived in a van full time.
Go and enjoy, take your time and love it!! Stay safe!!
Don’t forget the all import toolkit… 😎
This next step will be great to watch. Regular updates and helpful hints and tips. You two are naturals for this kind of stuff.
One tip I’ve seen to save space is to fill pillow cases with jumpers, just a couple of throw pillows to go on the sofa in day mode to save some cupboard space. Might be worth a try!
My favourite Christmas snack is Christmas cake. Couldn’t stand it when I was younger but now I’m obsessed
I'm so excited for you guys! I can't wait to see your adventure with Christmas and New Years coming!
I don't have anything, for Christmas, that I buy or make. I do like when you go to different friends and families home's and they have cookies, cakes, candy and more, and you are told to help yourselves!
Love you both, you crazy kids! 👫💕
SOOOOOO EXCITED that you guys are going full time van & RUclips - what an epic journey 🤩 so sad I missed you in Palma but looks like you smashed your talks - awesome work guys, so chuffed for you!
Ps I need that Christmas pudding door mat!! 🎄
Great to see all your stages of preparation, always reminds us of the old adage "fail to plan is to plan to fail". We reckon that you are heading for Switzerland and Austria. We are also in the final stages of packing up here in south-west France destination Portugal for three months. Our prime consideration in the packing field are our two cats who are absolutely wonderful travelling companions. On the shopping item front though, a large Christmas pudding, horseradish sauce, marmite, Branstom pickle, cheddar cheeses, smoked back bacon and "flavoured " sausages. luckily we have a lot of storage space. Decorations are still in "discussion" however.
Anyway, enjoy and enjoy your times away. We should have done it before but we did not have the option of working from home, chest la vie.
Oooh marmite is a good one! As is pickle for me! (Alex isn't a fan 😄)
Enjoy your trip to Portugal!
So excited for this adventure and I love the little Christmas decorations. So cute. 💕🌈 Stay warm!
Thanks Mara!
Congratulations guys, I'm so happy for you and I am looking forward to more travel videos, much love from Cape Town.
You two rock ! I’m so excited to see your new adventures ! As always stay and take care !
You guys are living the dream I am so happy for you and a bit jealous at the same time 😜, seriously though it couldn't happen to two nicer genuine people, stay safe and enjoy 🙏🏻👍🏻
Christmas treats in the USA - we get a half pound of See’s Candy dark chocolate raisins. I also get a crumble apple pie. Our dinners have changed to Tri Tip, Mac n cheese, and Brussels sprouts.
Ahhh so excited for you two!!
Aw thanks guys! We are so excited for your travels with Hunter 😍
Good Luck on the full time van life. I had a sort of feeling it would either be Italy or Portugal/Spain this winter. We will see ...
Love you two ❤️ just so glad you are living your dream and can't wait to join the adventure ! Wish you all the look in the world xx
Stumbled across your channel today - you guys crack me up. Looking forward to the next ep!!!!
Next time maybe get all season tyres and chains. Michelin easy fit synthetic chains are great. Get them to sponsor you.
I'm guessing Norway! Wherever it is, super excited to see the next phase. Stay safe, happy travels and stay cool, beans!
Fingers are my favorites. I found these a couple of times in Oklahoma! I love them! You can't go wrong with Cadbury Chocolate.
Us Americans have None of those foods. I love learning what others cannot live without. For Christmas, in California, USA, traditional Christmas snacks are: York Peppermint Patties, See's Candy (soft centers), red licorice, a huge tub of mixed popcorn (Costco has good variety). A chocolate Christmas Santa, Butterscotch caramels, some candy canes, and mixed Planters nuts. That's what Santa usually leaves in our stockings. P.S. had never heard of a Christmas sandwich, but love the packaging. We are all so very blessed and spoiled for choice.
Have a fantastic trip! Learned to love Twiglets when my folks lived in the UK many years ago. Always on the hunt for them in the US.
So excited for you guys can’t wait to follow along! Me and the boss lady are looking to do the same in the future and watching your videos and honest opinions really do help
Amazing, I’m sure you guys will love it!
So exciting! Sean always said that it's so important that you invest in quality with whatever separates you from the ground. So spending some money on tires is a wonderful idea! I'm so curious where you are going...Switzerland, Austria, northern Italy maybe? Looking forward to seeing the adventure!
Favorite thing to pack is actually sweaters aka jumpers! Because I so rarely get to wear them, and I just love cozy clothing. My least favorite thing to pack is literally all other clothing. Like Emma I have anxiety about forgetting stuff, and I also hate making decisions!
Beans, you missed the first rule of van life. Van lifers should always follow the sun like a dog on a bone.🎄🍺🚙🌝
Well, you have lots of jumpers there so you will be in cold country, so not in the Canary Islands. Maybe Austria for Xmas. "Life is too Short", the little red van have been using big bubble, bubble wrap to cut back on condensation on their windows....see recent video of it on RUclips. Love the Xmas ball with the van, perfect! Can't wait to see you traveling along again, have a wonderful journey.
Good luck Beans. I admire you setting off in the middle of winter. Looking forward to your trip reports. I reckon you are heading for Scandinavia.
Your excitement over the "Little Things" is my favorite part of this video. Got to have Christmas Lights.
T4 is amazing - if you are on top of maintenance. A mechanic that worked on my dads 2003-modell drove his own T4 1.2 million kilometers! Fluids & filters was key, he said.
In America, we love baking cookies during the holidays. People bring cookies to work, families bake cookies together, people exchange cookies showing off their recipes. And some of us just eat cookies, everyday, all day for like 3 weeks straight.🐷
Given that winter tyres are mandatory in Germany and knowing your love of German beer and food, I expect that you are off to Germany and countries to the south and east, eg. Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia. I've ruled out places further north as they are significantly colder with much shorter days at this time of the year.
Interesting. You are likely right. Good reasoning. I am not changing my answer though. *cheers*
Really happy for you guys. Im sure wherever you end up it will be great and Merry Christmas to you both
I found that you can put your oposite season clothing in Pillow Forms, so you have pillows but but it stores your clothes that you won't be using that season - works for bedding and towels as well!
When I found my Grand Caravan, I had no idea that I may have to live in it one day.
My late husband and father ere both mechanics and made sure I knew how to maintain my vehicles.
Before I signed the paperwork, I asked them to put the vehicle on the rack.
(They looked at me oddly).
I walked underneath and inspected every part of the drive train and underneath the van for any damage or rust.
We must be our own advocates, be it medical or purchases such as a vehicle.
Blessings from Florida for all in the coming years 🙏 🇺🇲🕊👵🏽✌🐕
Hmmmm, winter tyres, snow chains, shovel..... heading to Scandinavia per chance. Though you seem to love Italy so perhaps the Dolomites? Where ever you're venturing travel well and have a vantastic time. 👍
I just love that Brittish accent. God speed on your travels, stay safe and healthy.
My mother made peanut butter fudge at Christmastime just as her mother did all the time that she grew up. The recipe has been passed down for generations but is only made at Christmas. After Mom died I made it and sent it to my brother. He took one bite and started crying because it reminded him of Mom. It would not be Christmas without it.
Beautiful story.
In Germany special Xmas sweets usually appear in stores in September. Some of my favourites include Schoko-Lebkuchen and Mandel-Printen (in both cases a good choice in my opinion are the ones covered in dark chocolate from Aldi), Baumkuchenspitzen and Dominosteine. Otherwise lots of homebaked cookies. If you happen to be passing through Germany (or probably any other country with an Aldi as I have found those Xmas sweets even at Aldi in Australia before Xmas), try some of those sweets!
Hope your trip is fantastic, looking forward to the next episode.
Love your van!! Super happy for the both of you living your dream in a van!! 🤩🚐👏🏼
Best of luck on your epic journey guy's. Hope all goes well and any mishaps will be tiny. Take care , Hugh.
Really chuffed to see you both realise your dream and can't wait to see where you go next! Oh and BTW my favourite Xmas treat has to be a chocolate orange from the firdge -)
That's 3 people now talking about chocolate oranges. How did I ever forget about them? Must find now. Thank you.
Chocolate oranges are the BEST!
Hi guys you've got to go to rhine falls in Germany one sides Germany the other Switzerland. Spectacular scenery 👌
I would’ve been interested seeing your new winter tyres.
Presumably, having winter tyres fitted means you're going to Scandinavia, surely.
Oh i recon you be going to the Bavarian Alps for Christmas. Have a wonderful trip look forward to the vlogs and stay safe......
We here in America have none of those Christmas snacks. Well minced pie we have but no one eats it. It just sits on the table till someone throws it away. 🤣😂
LOL, very true! I live in the South so I always look forward to my Mom's cornbread dressing!
So excited to watch your new adventures. Being a west coast girl from Canada, my favorite treats which I only allow myself to eat at Christmas are butter tarts and Nanaimo Bars. Yum!!! Safe travels and Merry Christmas 🎄
You have such a amazing charisma! Subscribed after 2 minutes into your video!🌲❤
Next time, try rolling your clothing. It will create less winkles and easier to find. Congrats on your upcoming trip!
Well, I think you want to see the northern lights and you bought snow tires. So, I too am guessing Norway. It could be Germany, but you said overseas, not through the tunnel and with no return date scheduled, wandering Scandinavia seems more likely. Now, I'll go check the other places where I follow you and see how far off I was. Have a safe trip Alex and Emma. Also, you're at 161k. Let's shoot for 200,000 during this trip! Merry Christmas Beans.
Enjoy both keep the videos coming 🍻🍻🍻 and try Window deflectors for the van... you will see at night you can drop the Window down a bit 👍👍😏
Exactly what we do, but with an added fan at the rear to pull the air through a little 😅
Yep love twiglets, especially around Christmas
i got on for when i would go kayaking and the public restroom. i love using it.
Enjoyed your move in day. Thanks for sharing.
Well done on your build, it’s looking good for a first timer. Practice the army roll for the tee shirts takes up way lest space. Enjoy guys
Love you guys, y'all have a contagious personality, smiles and laughter...I say "Cool Beans too y'all from Odessa TX USA 🤗💖😁😂🤣😉👍
I looked online about a year ago when you put the link about the toilet. You can get a smaller version of the toilet you had
Wow, big brave move but really chuffed for you guys. Looking forward to seeing what adventures you find and create :o)
Hoping my son has bought me a beans out hat for Christmas. The best bit of packing is the alcohol and the worst is the clothes. Have a safe trip xx
Bubblewrap cut to the size of your windows (medium size bubbles, not the small ones) let the windows start to fog up a little and then the bubblewrap will stick to them. Stops condensation as well as helps retain the heat in the van. rolls up for easy storage during the day :)
Guys loose the gimmicks and get a proper Thetford Portapotty. You get Noravirus or just an old fashioned dose of the runs, life will be very unpleasant for you both. You only wear one jumper at a time so you could loose half the jumper box to make room for it. Also get a Karcher window vac to hoover up the condensation. If you can get them in I would get a couple of the lattice bases from bakers van bread trays to park on when you are going to be parking on mud and snow. Stops the wheels sinking in overnight and gives traction to your drive wheels.
Good suggestions. Another one to prevent being stuck in place is to wait about 30 mins after you stop for the night and then back up a couple of feet. The tires heat up after driving all day and will melt the snow where you first park and freeze you in place by morning. Backing up a couple of feet puts cold tires on fresh snow and is less sticky.
Good luck I hope everything you wish for comes true.
Hey! Have a safe jorney! My guess would be Norway, Sweeden or Finland! Or maybe all three! Anyways, have fun and enjoy the proper winter!
Condensation cure. Get wind guards for front windows. U can then put ur windows slightly down and vent the van while still being secure.
I love the names you guys have over there twiglets! Sounds like a Peter rabbit cartoon. Ha ha ha
Had to chuckle a bit! When you pulled out the bag dehumidifiers, and asked "Wonder what it's filled with?" My first thought was "Cat Litter"!! lol Good to see you finally getting on the road, looking forward to seeing the vids. Cheers! Bright New Year Wishes.
Where did you buy the storage cube from? Quick tip - roll your t-shirts up. This compacts them more, keeps out the creases and it will be easier putting them in and getting them out of the cupboard.
Hi you lovely people. I’m a new subscriber & I’m loving your energy & excitement! My husband & I are a wee bit older than you 2 (our “kids” range from 25 to 36!) but planning on our first big European trip this summer in our van Yvonne. Keep the space saving tips coming….already we will be ditching our portiloo & getting the collapsible version. Looking forward to seeing all your travels X
Judging by the clues you were dropping here and there, I got the feeling you might be heading for Scandinavia.
Of all you stocked, I (from the Netherlands) only recognized Celebration (okay, and maybe the cranberries)
Winter tyres, I guess you are not going near me (Poitou Charentes France) we have only had 2 frosty mornings so far. Also we are already half way through our tub of celebrations chocolates.
On the road yup back again!
I was bron in the US but raised by a British grandmother and I never heard of Twiglets - I do know what a Christmas Sandwitch is!
Love You Crazy Kids
Hilarious... Such Nice People
Wish there was More Crazy People like You in This World
You Both are always Happy 😊
Love the way You handle any issues
You gave to overcome 🤣🤣🤣
Nice van well done on the conversion it looks great 👍 i love my t4, i think they're the best looking vans out there
You've headed across the ditch just as the other bank decides to shut down again. Have fun!
Stay safe beans. 💋💋👸🧔
Congratulations you guys you’ve finally made it🤩so jelly right now , we are on our journey to the same dreams , hopefully we’ll realise it sooner rather than later 😀keep up the great work 🚐😍best of luck in your adventures, we’ll be watching you 😍
You definitely have a good selection of snacks. I am from the US and we don't have any of the ones you mentioned. Our go-to snack for the season is honey mustard pretzel and chocolate-covered cherries. Safe travels.
Aww all the best you two! Live life and laugh. Have fun!
Good look you two. When you get bored with your 'lovely' Christmas mat you can draw happy smiling faces on the puddings that look like your family and friends. Then think of them whenever you look at them. I am obviously assuming that all your loved ones resemble Christmas puddings in a nice way. ;-)
You two are a bundle of joy!!! Beautiful van and love the decos , good for you and happy trail's from Texas 💜 Merry Christmas 🎄
Are you too and thank you very much for your wonderful videos.
I also live in my car and I love it. I wish you a wonderful Christmas and happy travels ❤️🎄
Congratulations and safe travels all the time also from my other account.
I’m Mona and I also live in my car. I wish you all the best and good luck on all your travels 🍀❤️🎄
As you're driving, the other end of the Chunnel makes sense.
Good luck with everything guys. Really enjoy watching your adventures 😊.
Good Luck on your trip... I guess either Finland or Sweden. Eggnog is what I associate with Christmas 🎄 Nice that you included "the one shot" of Alex helping with the renovation of the Van 😈😈😈
Ha ha ha ha ha! Excellent! (wish I'd thought of it)
Condensation : Bubble wrap on your windows. + a bit of ventilation. it works.
So happy for the Bean team, on achieving your dream! Favorite holiday candy is Brach's peppermint nougats. I eat 10, you get 3 days of minty breath, for kissing the ladies. Saw wires hanging down during construction...disco ball? strobe light fixture? Upside down food processor? Loved the decorations! Go beans!
You two make me laugh and look forward to seeing you loving life living in your van 🎄🎄🎄🤶🎅
Holiday snack favorites are Little Debbie Christmas Trees and Reese’s Peanut Butter Christmas Trees by the bag. We recently discovered the Thanksgiving/Christmas sandwich with Sourdough bread, cranberry sauce as a condiment, small layer of dressing, and Cajun turkey. We have never seen one for sale around us (Collinsville, Mississippi, USA) but they should be. They are delicious.
Twigletts yep, got mine and quality street, and nuts and all of it hehe! Enjoy your trip. Somewhwre cold I guess. And I'll be watching as isolating. Boohoo x
Pop in to Aldi for some pigs in blanket inspired houmous. It’s lovely.
Have a nice, long trip!
Best of luck, look forward to seeing your journey
No twiglets or english sandwiches in the US we have cordial cherries and candy canes. Oyster stew is a christmas treat for my family
