What I love about Vietnamese desserts is how they adapt the best flavors from around the world and fuse them together to create something truly unique and delicious. The Vietnamese desserts top as the best of bests.
Definitely there are hidden cuisine gems in Vietnam and I’ll venture to say all over the world. Hopefully some good chef will turn them into something special. Great video!
Grilled banana dessert or Chuối nếp nướng is my my favorite dessert. You came to the right place to eat Chuối nếp nướng, that place is very famous. I used to eat Chuối nếp nướng at that place once a week when I was in VN.
I am so bloody jealous of you that it is unreal, Andrew! I just got back from 4 days in Saigon and was only able to find one single Che. The first time I had Che was in Hue, 1996, as an 18 year old. I was near a secondary school or uni and stumbled upon a packed little place, where I had 4-5 glasses❤. I am going to have to try to make some here in Chiang Mai.
@@Andrew_Fraser there is a lot of crossover with traditional Thai dessert and Vietnamese dessert. I really love them. I hope you had a good time in the big mango
thanks, i am Vietnemese, however i saw this video make me salivated and want fly to Hue for getting these VN desserts. Hue city- the central of VN, which is best choice for trying to eat VN foods. However we also have other cuisines from North and South areas.
Hey Andy, Not a single one of those that I wouldn't try. Agreed, the 🍌 banana looked best. My main concern again is hygiene. Where do they wash the cups and spoons.? After 45 years working in kitchens and how strict some regulations are I'm confused about how they clean up stuff. Seeya next time.✝️🙏✌️
I find the hygiene of Vietnamese street food to be pretty good. With small street vendors like this, the cups and spoons are usually cleaned at home and only used once before being retired for the day. Most customers are getting takeaway though which is all disposable packing and cutlery. Today I ate a bunch of raw street seafood in Bangkok though. That’s got the break the hygiene and safety rules.
@@Andrew_Fraser I've had raw street food too but Not by choice 🤮. They must have 100'S of cups etc. I've had that purple root veg that you had in your drink. Looked like a typical Yam but was purple inside and very bland. I thought that stringy looking one might have been an aloe vera base. I like the coconut milk based stuff too. I recently made a Persimmon and coconut milk based "ice cream" and it was pretty good. Safe travels ✝️
Vietnamese, if you’re talking about hygiene in the 1990 yes… but after we’ve opened business with the world after 2000, most street’s vendors are very cautious of their hygiene and food safety!
@@bache3145 It was just a question not a judgement. Andy explained it to me. I was just curious. It's refreshing to know that they take pride in their products and the customers.✌️
Happy New Year! I love your videos, so interesting and respectful to the people . Can you do one on the people who live on boats near the border of Vietnam and Cambodia?
This is all street food and everyone can make them thus why is cheap! You should try to fushion the street desserts yourself! Like Banh Tieu with a piece/slice of Banh Bo placed inside! The possibilities is endless Andrew!!! Goodluck finding your fushion!!! 😂
There's a different type of banh cam that is flat with hardened toffee on top. It's very crispy on the outside and sweet on the outside contrasting with the soft more savoury inner. Damn, I want some now
Sorry Andrew, no disrespect for you, but as a Westerner (even though you choose to live in Vietnam), you will never really understand the palette of Vietnamese dessert che. We don’t bake a lot and make chocolate or vanilla cakes for instance. No whipped cream. But, our desserts are not so deadly sweet as the Indians or the Turks. They are light, can be eaten hot or cold with lots of ice, hence why you see it on the cream caramel fitting for a hot climate like Vietnam. We use alot of flour, jelly, and coconut in our desserts too. I think apart from Thailand, Vietnam has the best desserts as I’m not much of a sweet tooth and I love the combination of fruit and coconut together.
Whoa man! At 14:30, Adjust the volume so your voice is nice and clear... Press play. When THAT bit of music kicks in, it's super loud! I've never heard this imbalance on any of your other videos that I've seen. I know it's kind of pointless to go back and fix this one, but maybe I could be a tiny bit helpful and you can watch it for that in future posts. Otherwise, this was an amazing video and I'm eager to try these kinds of desserts in the future. Thank you so much for your videos.
Bro they dont profit that much money. Cant really afford glove. I understand your hygiene but if you want hygiene and pay more money go to bigger restaurant. And see the quality of it.

Vietnamese dessert, Che, is one of my favourites. So creative with how they blend all the flavours and textures.
😮Are you sure you have enjoyed all types of Vietnamese "chè"?

Hygiene depends on your immune can adapt to the envirenment, for most Asian they are fine.
The timing of this video is a killer as I have to fast for the next 48 hours. Love all the chè in the video except for the roast pork one
Banh Cam, i call them Sesame balls, love those! And i love the other favors they put in there.
Vietnam have a lot of good foods
Love you Andy
..would love to see you make videos in South Korea ❤
3rd Che is my favorite 👍👍👍
Happy New Year! I love your videos, so interesting and respectful to the people . Can you do one on the people who live on boats near the border of Vietnam and Cambodia?
There would be a lot of garbage floating in the water and unhygienic food, so the tourists don’t bother to go there.
These desserts are found in most Southeast Asia countries as well as in China & Japan.
The round white che is mochi and filling is mung bean 😊
Hi Andy, you've done it again, another ripper episode! And yes I'm hungry again now for something sweet
Cheers 👍🇦🇺
che heo quay in vietnam is kinda like maple syrup bacon , or when you dip your french fries in ice cream lol
Awesome dude...🎉
I used to get a mango sticky rice with the coconut milk was good and the papaya jackfruit salad is almost dessert. Both were pretty good.
Quite similar desserts here in PH except the one with pork 😊

Yep and introduced long time ago by Hokkien immigrants!
Andy, we want you to continue your wristwatch reviews. Your review of the captain Willard 6105 was fantastic!
Thanks 🙏. Maybe someday on a second channel. For now I’m laser focused on this travel / food / anthropology stuff.

Hue is so underrated ! It’s often over shadowed by Hoi An
Hue has the citadel while Hoi An has the old town. Both are great places but Hue is famous for its food.
@@dickowilley2642 Hue also has own town as well. it's called Bao Vinh.

The fried sesame ball and tofu are of Chinese origin. They're known as jiānduī and doù huā respectively.
Most of these dessert have Philippine counterpast except for the roast pork with beans
(us viewer)eating street food,is no worries if like this, hope India will do same.,
The tofu dessert should be the ONLY way to eat tofu .. I would go on a tofu diet , if it was like that 😅
Plz collaborate with BEFRS again love your content and hope to see your channel grow and see amazing content.
The purple one could be ube. Or taro, maybe.
Wish my dessert was as tasty!

So nice 👌 ❤
Those dessert pots are a liiiittle too close to the chopping boards for comfort - A divider of sort, between them, would be nice…
Just different type of beans with starch ( flour)
Hi Andy, your omega nato strap looks great! But where is your Speedmaster professional? 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
