Watching this video just scares me to expand my own collection, I can't imagine how much time it took for you to pack up and organize everything and find the time to make videos. Love your videos!
@@michaelj2276 Which Conan omnis are you collecting? I've wanted to get into collecting those but there are just too many of them out right now, some in and out of print. Where do you think is a good jumping on point for that character?

Wow/ Omar that is HUGE, Insane even ! I envy your collection... My collection just hit 105 hardcovers,2300~ comics,190~ Manga(59 of which are hard covers, like Akira 35th,Berserk 1-10,Hellsing,BOTI 1-4,Card Capter Sakura 1-9,Alita 25th Deluxe Boxset,Ghost in the Shell Boxset, etc) and about 64 omnis, and 9 small anime figurines (oh,and 10 TPB's that You and your lovely wife gave us after that drawing back in January, thanks again,my wife loved the TPB of PUNK ROCK JESUS !!. Thank you good sir :) ),yours makes my collection look really tiny by comparison !! Amazing ! Physical Media for life !! My wife's regular book collection is at least 3x the size of my slowly growing collection. All of our Hardcover anime and most of the Omni's I have bought in the last 36 months,is solely because of THIS channel you and your wife run. I started in on buying comics in 1985,but put it all in storage around 2010,until March 2019. After your Alita HC video I got bit by the collecting bug again
I'm moving next Friday and have forty odd boxes of graphic novels and 17 long boxes full of other comic books (and that's not including my Transformers, Doctor Who novels and Blu Ray/DVD's).
So much life took place in that house. It’s pretty wild isn’t it? 16:05 “Doesn’t this REMIND you of anything, Cup?! No lad... I’ve never seen anything like this before.”
Hope you enjoy your new house! Much love. Also having moved nearly a year ago I DEFINITELY didn’t pack my books like that! LOL I just put them in a box and hoped for the best!
@@Omar-cm5pb It actually went well nothing was ripped except one of my omnis got a small rip at the bottom of the dust jacket but nothing horrible. And the rip is not really noticeable.
I think this video will help me one day. Very informative, also it feels like a home movie a friend would show me. Cool video, congrats on the new house Omar!
Moving day is always stressful. As a mover by trade I can definitely say that I don't envy moving your house Omar. I hope everything made it in one peice! And hope you tipped your movers hahaha you took a few years off their backs forsure hahaha.
Hello Omar, Long time fan of the channel here, first time commenter. I just moved my collection 3 months ago, so I feel your pain, lol. I actually ended up using about 50 bankers boxes for the books at 80% capacity. It worked pretty well because you can stack two piles of deluxe edition/omnibus sized books side by side. Didn't need any bubble wrap because there was little to no wiggle room. Used the same boxes for the movie collection too. Those diamond boxes would be pretty sweet though. Looking forward to your Superman Reading Order Part 2. Thank you for everything you do. You're probably the reason I own half of what I do. It's fun setting everything up in a new space though, but it really makes you truly realize how much you have when you have to move everything. I don't want to move again for a very long time, lol. :)
OMG, it took us two months to unpack and decorate the new place. We were in our last place for over 10 years and as you are probably aware, you can collect a lot of things in 10+ years, lol. Navigating around the initial unpacked boxes that dominated every room in the house was kind of overwhelming. It's amazing how much space they take up and you don't truly realize just how much space is needed until you have to move and pack. Good luck. :)
I feel for ya! I moved a year ago. I used (give or take) 60 boxes which held between 8 to 10 omni. I used tough clear poly bags big enough to take a 1400 page omni to seal against water damage and a huge role of soft packing card which was cut to size to pack between books and cushion the boxes instead of bubble wrap. I moved them all myself in the back of the wives SUV, 8 boxes a time with lighter stuff (a 4 wheel folding cart is a must). I found floor space the real issue when trying to sort and re-shelf my collection. Next move will be an 80+ box event at current count lol.
Best of luck unpacking, Omar! Hope you and your family will enjoy your new home and can make lots of great new memories there to mark it like My Neighbor Totoro did your last home.
Omar, please make sure you get insurance on all of those. Being in a basement terrifies me. My collection is on the 2nd floor, but I didn't carry it up there thankfully. I had the movers do it. I wouldn't have been able to, rofl. I hope your move went off without a hitch!
I recently re-ordered all my storage and sold most of my Marvel Essentials as I have replaced them with Epic Collections, Omnibuses or Masterworks. At one time I could only afford the cheap black and white editions. Now I can upgrade them. The great thing about getting rid of what you don’t want is that you can display and see all your best items and find them easily. Plus it will eventually make moving house easier. The stuff that I don’t read or look at any more is better off in the hands of someone who will enjoy it. Comics is a fantastic hobby. I am going to be 60 years old in 2 months but Omar’s videos still give me the same excitement and anticipation I used to have when I saw ads for upcoming comics as a boy. Thanks Uncanny one.
“What the hell’s wrong with me?” I recently told an editor of mine I had every issue of 2000 AD. His one word response was: “Why?” THEY JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND
I've always called my comic boxes "my penance"... Never let anyone pack them... never let anyone aside from my wife help move them. ONE time, I let someone in the family help, and there were a couple of dropped long boxes. It was a bad day. Up to over 50 long boxes of single issues now, not counting trades, HC's, and omnis... When you include novels and toys, things do explode, but a lot of that is in my garage... Your "penance" is considerably bigger, because of statues and such... CRAZY!!! I bet every time you move, you say, "this is the last time I'm ever moving!" Every. single. time... Hoping this last time for us was the last time. Looking forward to seeing the new set-up! Amazing basement size... #goals!
Congrats on your new home and thanks for sharing such a hilarious but also informative video! I'm dying from all the commentary (iron man box label, unicron, raiders of lost ark, etc) LOL. Looking fwd to more home videos and a room tour!
This is a great video. I knew there were a lot of books but didn't think at all about the number of shelves that go along with them. The shot of all the shelves in the basement waiting to get organized was something else. Can't wait for the tour vid!
I’ve moved so many times and I hate moving, but it’s also such a rewarding and probably one of the best feelings in the world when everything is finished and set up in the end. This video reminded me of my last move. I sadly had to let go of around 3000 books. All the best to you in the new house, love from England x
Such an awesome collection! Really appreciated seeing someone else's experience with moving such a large amount of books. I've just about doubled my collection in the last year and live on a 3rd floor apartment. I am dreading moving out, just moving in my smaller collection nearly destroyed my back!
Unbelievable! Its like you shipped a whole public library. I found the video very informative and thought provoking. I am moving this summer and was needing some moving tips for my omnibus collection & shelves. I can not wait for more videos of the process.
I moved a pretty huge collection, and also paid for packing service (risky I know). guys packed HUGE boxes with probably 30 omnis each. each box must have been over 100 pounds. Unexpectedly, everything arrived safe, but I'm sure some backs were broken
Great video, Omar. Just looking at all the boxes, got me in a state of anxiety and stress. Good luck with organizing the basement. Can't wait to see how it looks.

Ohh my stars and garters Omar. Geez I thought my move was big enough! This would've been absolutely daunting. My anxiety level ramped up to 100 after seeing your statues. I applied some of the same principles you used when packing. However the bubble wrapped books was something I didn't consider as I was worried about the box count. Like you there were things I personally took such as figurines, special record boxed sets etc. Your new home did have that Indiana Jones aspect lol. Always the way. Give yourself time to recover and unpack. That's the fun part. You got there in the end. Cheers. 🤪🤪
