The newest Corollas have a CVT transmission that might hurt reliability, however their slow engines have a long history of reliability. Mazda's reputation was hurt by its older rotary engines, older engine timing chain problems, and older automatic transmission problems. Study the April issue of Consumer Reports magazine at a library, and test drive both, ideally by renting them and driving them all day.
The Toyota does 0 to 60 in 7.5 with a manual and 8.5 with their CVT. It actually has auto rev matching with the manual as well. This is actually very close to the Mazda 3. That’s from MotorTrend. Cargo and rear seat room however is significantly less in the Corolla. 29.9 vs 35.1. Rear leg room. That’s a big difference. Toyota will be more reliable and a bit more efficient. They use dual injection so you don’t end up with the carbon build up on the intake valves that is so common in direct injection engines.
Yeah so I've only watched this on a small screen and haven't been able to see the instrument cluster too clearly but I believe if 'sport mode' was enabled it would show up just under D in the bottom middle of the center display. In Canada the Mazda3 Sport can not be had with red with red leather. I had to get red with black leather. I checked on Mazda USA's website and sure enough it can be speced as such. I also noticed in many videos that the USB plug in the dash is located on the left next to the start button. Whereas mine in on the right closer to the passenger. Was the one you tested also made in Japan and these differences are just for US spec cars or was it made else where?

Problem is that corolla is really "whinny" when you push it due to the CVT, and has a relatively low max speed, it's acc from 0 depends a lot on the electric motor kicking in.
I recently test drove both. The Mazda 3 hatchback is the better car IMO.
That hatchback C-pillar makes me🤔🤔, otherwise the sedan is a real looker though.
Why the fisheye lens? Can you use a regular lens and see how it turns out?
I agree, the lens used gives odd angels
This is what I think of when I hear "Japanese Design"
It looks like an European car. Previous 3 decades Japanese cars were distinctive
does this handle better than the older gen??
What’s the lowest you can get this vehicle for?
Did you ever get to drive the manual in the mazda 3?
Was sport mode not enabled?
It might not have one. Anf if it did i'm sure he would have mentioned it
@@not2day646 They do have a sport mode yes, he doesn't really show you the central column but thats where the button is on the left.
Yeah so I've only watched this on a small screen and haven't been able to see the instrument cluster too clearly but I believe if 'sport mode' was enabled it would show up just under D in the bottom middle of the center display.
I didn't see it lit up and was just a bit surprised he didn't use sport mode.
You don’t need sport mode. Drive it in manual mode and shift your own gears.... you control the shift points and torque.
Louder drumming noise on bumps than sedan?
Review the new g20 3 series
Does it have apple carplay?
Since the corporations like C&D and Motor Trend aren’t making a big deal out of the loss of an Independent Rear Suspension in the Mazda 3, neither are the Sheeple
It is not a big deal.
Mazda needs to add that red leather to the sedan and other mazda models!
Como es el performan de este vehiculo...
Love the interior, hate the exterior and underpowered engine.
vvvVFANGSVvvv lol as you prove how much you care by commenting. So butthurt, so sad. Also cool username, how old are you now, 14?
vvvVFANGSVvvv Obviously you care if you took the time out of your day to reply to his/her comment. Some people just feel the NEED to be negative. Smh
Josh Bredael it’s an opinion of both positive and negative. Plus all comments on car vids are about what we think of the cars, not the content creator. It’s ok to hate something about a car. It won’t hurt it’s feelings.
Im the reverse. I think the interior doesnt work at all
Calisto Riviera I’m not talking about you. My comment was towards the person that commented, “NO ONE CARES”
Sporty version and turbo, for what? The 10 people who will buy it? No Thanks. Enjoy this one!!
You're denying the success of the turbo hatch market because you're too much of a child to own a turbo version ? Please.
@@ashcosmo3854 there is no business case for a turbo 3. Simple. Subaru found that out with the forester xt too. People talk that they want it... Very few try...even fewer buy. If Mazda starts listening to every child with a fantasy... They are done. If u think otherwise... Ur the fanboy immature kid.
@@jab1720 That was a long paragraph just to tell me you have low testosterone to own a turbo car.
Turbo cars are unsuccessful ? What about Hyundai i30N, Veloster turbo and Veloster N ? Want me to provide you with sale figures of the WRX ? Want me to provide sale figures of the Golf GTI/ Golf R ? Want me to provide you with sales figures of Audi S1, S3 ? Your completely false opinion of turbo cars are not successful is hilarious.
Don't get upset when your girlfriend checks out the car next to yours because it has a turbo. You know it'll get her attention.
Ash Cosmo lmao, dude, you sound like a moron.
reall wish the music audio would work right. It couldn't be worse. How did Mazda mess this up so badly?
$28,900? doesn't seem to much faster than the 05 civic si I sold a few months ago.
Please do Kia Telluride next
wow fuk 32k US. My 2019 Civic Touring was 33ish CAD
edit: this thing would come out to over 40,000 CAD.
Did this dude actually say a hatchback has more trunk space than a sedane?
Yeah so what.
Because it does....
Actually, the Mazda 3 sedan has more space, BUT what i suppose he meant was that the back door of a hatchback is more practical and dropping the back seats can enable you to carry larger stuff inside, like a bike.
yeah, that is slow considering the looks.
You must have the microphone on the floor. Ha It sounds awful. I don't remember mine sounding like that. Anyhow thanks for the good drive!
Automatic for the people.
Glass engine
Mazda3>>>VW golf
Compare to the GTi, similar price points. Me along with any car enthusiast would take the GTi, much more fun and way more room for mods.
I hope the people who liked op's comment die of aids
Ugly rear end, not digging it because its a 4 door sedan. I'll take the MX-5, RF, thanks.
Paul Knauf agreed. Not sporty looking at all! Had an ‘05 3s beautiful hatchback design.
Google that 2005 car. I think it looks like a Station Wagon.
So beautiful but too slow 😣
It looks worse
Until you see this car in person, it’s impossible to criticize the exterior design, trust me this is a 3 dimensional shape and pictures can’t do it justice.
@@sportgm - Yeah, it does look worse indeed.
Add a turbo and I'd consider this. Underpowered engines are for grandmas.
Adding a turbo would ruin the simplicity and reliability of its engine.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 Rubbish logic. Hyundai offer 5 year warranty on all of their turbo cars including the new I30N. Simplicity is exactly why this car is slow. If someone wanted simplicity then they might as well just do away with the AWD aspect too.
@@ashcosmo3854 They don't even honor their warranty, hence it's of no value.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 Don't honour ? Maybe if you bought one in a dodgey third world country. The first run of i30N had ECU, gear syncro and fuel pump issues. All fixed by the dealership with no questions
@@ashcosmo3854 Over here in the USA (not a third world country) they don't back up their warranty. They have lot's of complaints against them.
The corolla hatch seems more faster than this even its 168hp
The 3 hatch is 6.9 sec 0-60. I’m at 60 by the time I’m at end of 2nd gear. I’d love to see a Corolla try to beat it.
@@buchajo specially with that CVT
Problem is that corolla is really "whinny" when you push it due to the CVT, and has a relatively low max speed, it's acc from 0 depends a lot on the electric motor kicking in. It is marginally faster in acceleration from 0 but as you go faster, the Mazda 3 gets harder acceleration times and can reach a much higher top speed.
Que feos son los HB :v a mi para nada que me gustan, 1000 veces mejor un sedan en mi opinión pero respeto la del resto
Ugh... Still looks uglier than the previous body style. What on Earth was Mazda thinking??
i hate 4 cylinder cars
Seems like there’s a lot of noise coming from the suspension going over expansion joints. True?
