Good morning Nikki great video I have been buying LIFEPOD batteries for my solar system they last a long time but are expensive I try to buy one a month. I would also like to get a wind generator to back up my solar. Have a great day
Yes, the batteries get you. And it is a catch 22, you buy the good Lithium Ion or Lithium Phosphate, they last a LONG time but are an arm and a leg. You buy old fashioned lead acid batteries, they are cheaper but only last a few years. So the cost all works out the same, the issue is coming up with the money for the good ones.
You can do a hybrid system that combines your solar with a wind turbine. Of course you will have to change your charge controller over to work with wind and solar, both. Solar is DC current and wind is AC current which will have to be converted to DC to work with your batteries. Then there is a "dump load" factor to consider too. If I go through with it as time and money permits, I will post some information to help those that want to do this.
Good morning Nikki.
Hi! :)
I am combining a wind turbine and an SMR.

Interesting video for me, as I am currently weighing my options for emergency backup power. I'm leaning toward solar.
Cool! I am glad the timing was just right! And, yes, for ease of use, set up, and maintenance, solar is by far the best.
