Till recent 10 years it has gone better since Steam bring us a good community. And believe me, Chinese players hate cloned game as well, that's the reason why majority of us now do hope Black Myth Wukong can fvck China game market that filled with full of cloned microtransaction games.

Suppose a product sells well in China (assuming it costs $1), it only has about a month to sell it to make huge profits (assuming it sells for $10).
After that, a large number of manufacturers entered the market. Removing shipping and storage brings the price back close to cost right away.
Overall, this is beneficial to ordinary people in China. For example, the price of electric cars in China has reached US$10,000.
Compared to a $10,000 gasoline car configuration a few years ago, it is simply upgraded by several levels!
Another point is that China is a socialist country to the people and a capitalist country (state capitalism) to the world. It does not protect capitalists. Capitalists need to serve the government. The government needs to serve the people (policies are formulated very quickly , and as soon as the policy passes the pilot, it will be implemented nationwide, but it may damage the interests of a few people, but for most people, the impact is actually relatively positive).

These games have a very long history and there are hundreds of them, many RPG and some action. They are seldom known in the Western world because many of them weren't localized into English and culturally not very compatible to western audiences, but very popular among the Chinese speaking population. She didn't mention these at all in her video either because she didn't care enough to do the research or deliberately chose not to because the existence of these games didn't support her argument.

However, in China, most households only started acquiring PCs in the mid-2000s. Despite the recent shutdown of many Western game developers and even giants like Blizzard facing challenges, the new studios emerging in China have been doing an exceptional job. If you look at their animation, called donghua, you'll notice they have a distinct identity and cultural difference from Japanese anime. Its not like Western AAA game studios are doing a lot of innovation either. Every new Ubisoft, EA, Bethesda, etc game plays just like the previous game, but in a different setting. In fact, new releases can be inferior than the predecessors, as shown with Skull and Bones.

    • @Ralathar44

TBH that's pretty ignorant. Ubisoft is a huge company with a massive variety of titles, it just has a few mainstay series in the same genre. But go google up everything they've developed. Its alot. Bethesda actually gets criticized every release for all they've changed. The biggest complaints about Starfield, Fallout 4, and yes even Skyrim was that they were not enough like their older games. They don't reinvent the wheel sure, but they do significantly iterate and try new things and people gripe and kevitch every time. But they still do it. When Back 4 Blood was released, the biggest complaint was that it was not enough like Left 4 Dead 2. God knows how many MMOs released where people went "you shoulda done this more like WOW". You blame the devs, but the devs are innovating and trying new things even in the face of huge pressure from gamers to just do it like the old games.

It feels like it relied a lot on the legacy of l4D to create hype, which is why a lot of folks were disappointed when it fell so short of the games it built its whole identity around.
At least, that’s my two cents about it.

@@poppintags2280 They didn't have a choice. Their original reveal trailer (REVEAL trailer, before the release trailer) did not have any of that. But the entire internet and all the journalist articles labeled them L4D and noted their creator status anyways. So they had two choices, lean into or fight it. They leaned into it. Now you might say that is a mistake, but the same thing happened to Redfall way before their release. The Redfall devs argued people said they were not a L4D game. The internet and journalist articles called them liars. They released a demo to say see, we're not Left 4 Dead game. And the internet and jouranlists doubled down they were L4D. Redfall may have been a terrible and unifinshed game on release, but that stuff happened before anyone knew that. So basically, there was no winning for Back 4 Blood. They were going to get that label no matter what they did. The fact they leaned into it is just an excuse for people to do what they were already gonna do.

    • @Ralathar44
      @Ralathar44 Месяц назад

@@poppintags2280 TBH though the thing that really bothers me about the Back 4 Blood situation isn't people complaining about the marketing or the game. It's the fact that the Left 4 Dead community literally waged a misinformation campaign against it, intentionally trying to kill it. And they still are. It's gone on for years. The game lives forever rent free in their heads. They were saying wild stuff like the game has microtransaction (quite literally has zero). And go look at the negative reviews, most of them are just "go play left 4 dead" and don't say anything else useful. Usually with less than 5 hours. If you removed all those L4D review bomb reviews the game would have a great review score and the fact its still alive and kicking today with currently over 11,000 players (they are on sale right now, putting it almost as low as L4D2 prices, usually they have closer to 4k) says despite the attempted sabotage says alot about the fact the game being pretty quality. You can use steam scout to parse the reviews and the review ratio at 5+ hours is really positive.

I am a Chinese gamer. I personally hate Tencent because they rely on their channel advantages to produce a large number of krypton gold games. Plagiarism and cloning have always existed in the gaming industry, but Tencent’s strong channel traffic advantage will make Tencent games more likely to succeed. , due to the rapid development of mobile games and the prevalence of gold-based online games, stand-alone games are not popular in the Chinese market. Manufacturers are also unwilling to develop high-quality stand-alone games, so gradually many Chinese players go to the American Staem platform. All Chinese players hope that more high-quality single-episode games will emerge in China and cultivate this market. This is a good thing for Chinese players, as well as for single-episode game manufacturers and player groups around the world. When there are more and more genuine stand-alone players in China, It will promote the development of the global stand-alone market. Only when there is a market can there be competition, and more high-quality 3A masterpieces will appear. This is why I very much hope that Black Mythology can succeed. Black Mythology is the first Chinese company to invest 100 million US dollars. Standalone 3A game. There is no krypton gold, no recharge, no rankings, a real hardcore stand-alone game.

I see no problem with cloning. Its been happening for literally all human history. One tribe saw a bow and arrow, and do you think they will not use it because of ethics and then try and create their own weapons? No. If it works, and they can re create it, they will. That is not a problem.
As long as you provide greate customer service and upgrades, you will still be on top. This is what companies should do instead of complaining and whining. You can't escape copies of good ideas. Also many people get the same ideas for so many things and just because one person made it first shouldn't restrict another person in some other place to create something very similar. Ideas have major limits and can only go so far. Often similar ideas are born when 2 people who are completely isolated see a specific problem or are influenced in a similar way. There have been studies of this.
For example, in one study, they got a few artists and drove them through the city without telling them why they are doing it. Then they asked the artists to paint a picture. Guess what happened? Most of the artists end up painting a very very similar painting of the things that were placed on rout specifically to catch their attention. All of the artists thought their painting was original to them and was their own thoughts expressed.

When foreign game companies had to do localization in China, local staffs legaly had to comply with the party and steal business info from them. But how is that going to be organized u ask? well since a few years ago, all companies are required to had a party member on board as board of directors, so the party knows what to look for when certain infomations are key to the business. I eventually resigned from my job becuz i was asked to send away sensitive user data to the chiense servers from the mobile games we made

The artwork is strikingly similar to hollow knight. Not sure if it will end up being a good game or not but I’ll be happy for more games like Hollow Knight if it’s any good.

As a Chinese gamer, it is true that Chinese game market have serious problem of plagiarism, especially a few years before. Tencent is the most notorious one among the gamers. A famous saying is that whatever you made, Tencent will soon copy yours and you cannot defend your copyright because Tencent is always winning in the Shenzhen Nanshan District court (everybody knows why). However, it is more like a stereotype to say that China Gov has an plan to clone all kinds of game while they do have the plan in the chips and hitech I think. If let me describe the images of the role that the gov is playing in the gaming, it is a conservative and old-fashioned elderly but is irresistible in front of cash (exactly because that is the common figure of the 60~70s generation). In the chaotics era, the officals regulated the industry and was inactive to plagiarism. And the big companys like Tencent grew up with sin and "relationship". Now they go back to sue others for plagarism.

Without clones(and Riot being purchased by Tencent) there would be no MOBAs on phones or tablets. Or MMOs and many other game genres, that western companies didnt even think of briging to mobile. Did you know that they buy the companies of the games they cannot copy? There are some special games that are one of a kind or online. For example, Warframe is a game of a Canadian company. It is even a very good game that saved the company from going bankrupt. China bought this game:I was still playing when they bought it and I still have an account there. Most of the time, when I wanted to trade in the game, when Chinese players came across it, it caused bugs and problems due to the high ping difference. Not only that, but all the Chinese players I knew in the game, even those who broadcast live on Twitch, were playing with cheat programs. We are talking about a community of players who cheated even in a PVe based game.We even started to download and play some games, thinking they were original, without realizing that they were actually copies. Almost all games of Chinese origin run on my computer with a different subprogram other than the game itself.Unknown to many people, many giant European or American game companies have actually been sold to Chinese game giants with a confidentiality agreement. For example, how do you explain that there are Chinese Year events in an online game made in Europe and published only in Europe?70% of the game industry is under China's control and this will increase gradually. They have already bought almost all of the most played Steam games. Copying is a tactic as explained in the video, but do not forget that they are buying companies.

There is some bad information here, so I wanted to correct it, this will be long as it includes some explanation. Anyone interested in this, as it's a serious matter, and goes beyond gaming, should read further, despite the length.
The first thing people in the US should be learning is the situation with China. China represents roughly 1/3rd of the human population, and has generally been culturally backwards and stagnant. While responsible for many innovations in the ancient world they did not do anything for a long time, earning them the name "The Sick Men Of Asia". This is why when in an old Bruce Lee movie, when Bruce beats up an entire Japanese martial arts school, he says "We are not sick men", it's a reference to that title.
At any rate China's economy is also a lie, a permitted fiction due to the number of people living there. See due to it's constant problems China wound up in a massive amount of debt, especially to Britain. The Emperor, realizing this, started to embrace more and more western ways, and do whatever he could to pay off China's debt and progress Chinese civilization. This however had tremendous negative impact in a nation known for it's concept of "face", and formed the impetus for Mao to lead his communist revolution, largely based on the horror of realizing that they had that much debt. The problem is that for international trade to work, a coup, or change of government, does not erase the debt of that people. Various African nations and large parts of South and Central America have this problem as well. Basically a new regime becomes responsible for the debts of the old regime, plus any thy incur, otherwise countries would just have coups or something every so often to get out of debt to other nations and the whole system of international trade couldn't work.
The massive debt Mao's revolution caused, on top of what they already owed created a situation where basically even a massively progressed China could not pay it all off before the sun explodes. Seriously, it owes that much considering everything when you compute it. I'm not even getting into things like Warlord Bonds to explain part of that, as some of those are worth like a couple Trillion that China owes from that whole period when you consider penalties.
As this is 1/3rd of the population, special provisions were made to handle China, and pretty much not call them on that debt, allowing them to lift 1/3rd of the population out of abject poverty by allowing them to participate in global trade despite everything. The idea was that a more prosperous China will lead to social and cultural reforms, and then China could basically come and bend the knee to G7, and trade debt forgiveness and such for concessions in joining the world stage properly. It was a humanitarian thing.
The problem is that as China became more prosperous it did things like implement a national firewall, and turn into a sort of commie-siege state, and actually become worse in all the areas it had problems with instead of better, with a leadership even more obsessed with face. It does things like refuse to acknowledge international patent and copyright laws, and has been knocking off products, right down to labels, since the 80s where we started to call it a "Robber Economy", but even when weak the idea of killing as many people it would take and ending their prosperity was against the more humantarian views of the west. Video games are just one of the more recent things really, I remember when it first was invented that knock off viagra was a huge thing as were drugs in general. The real problem is, we allow them to use the global market, and have never enforced the rules of that market like having to acknowledge things like intellectual property rights. This is why things have been so bad with the east and west, especially as countries like the US pivoted towards an innovation and service based economy, with the idea being the manufacturing nations like China were supposed to only take a percentage as opposed to just knocking off the products and making their own.
To be fair, the video is correct that "knock offs" have always been a thing, but realize that there have always been rules about intellectual properties and such that most people don't realize, and things haven't been as blatant as what China does as everyone was playing by those rules.
The issue right now is not that anyone thinks China could actually stop The West from just removing the CCP from power, things like the AEGIS system (look it up, it's basically nuke interception on ships ) could really prevent the threat of their nuclear arsenal, the problem is the humanitarian issue of having to kill as many people as it would take to break the fanatics supporting the CCP. The problem also is compounded by the fact that as China did become more prosperous, even with all the people there that are basically slaves, your still looking at one of the biggest markets in the world. Anything that is going to rely on low end volume sales, like movie tickets or video games, can move a LOT of units there as they have more people than any western market. Thus you have a lot of business people who are beyond ideology as they are so rich they don't have to worry about what everyone else does, who pretty much don't care what China does, or even if it knocks a lot of stuff off, as long as they can sell units of their product to China, and take advantage of the slave population it maintains to have stuff made to sell in yet other markets. It's a case where you can see the problem with capitalism causing a lot of bad thing to happen, even for the capitalists themselves, simply because there is lots of money to be made in the short term.
Now, a lot of people, generally right wingers, have been arguing that we need to isolate China, much like we did with The Middle East. It's hard though as a lot of very rich people, many huge political donors, want that market open, and don't care what they do. Even say cutting off trade for them for say 5 years would simply cost too many rich people too much money, even if it would get them to back down. Understand though that in their case to make it work there would also be humanitarian concerns like say not providing food while they starve (there is a reason China tries to invest in foreign agricultural land... including in the US), and needing to shoot down any planes, boats, or whatever trying to leave China... and make their national firewall something other than a form of isolation they contorl, and rather forcing them out of the loop with everything. To be fair it's quite doable, but the threat of China's military is simply a paper tiger used to try and justify the real reason for not taking action due to the amount of money that can be made.
There is also the issue that a lot of global economies rely on Chinese debt (like it or not) for their own economies. For example the USA is actually owed far more money by China than it owes to China, it's just that the CCP tries to not acknowledge this, and of course what it owes the Brits is far more than that. For those who didn't pay attention at the time, the whole reason why Hong Kong was turned over to China as per previous agreement despite what the people there wanted was simply because it was agreed to. If Britain had refused, or America had intervened, China could then have argued that since we were violating agreements like that, they could claim they don't have to honor the debts they incurred to those countries, which could cause other problems in the long game being played here as action becomes increasingly needed.
Basically the end goal for any leader who knows what they are doing is to pretty much get China to bend the knee and join the civilized world on the same terms as everyone else, which of course the CCP doesn't want. Hence the attempts at diplomacy, but that whole elephant in the room of how much they owe is always going to be an issue to a bunch of people obsessed with face and perception. Xi isn't going to fall to his knees before G7, but realize as the belligerence increases, eventually he's going to start a war by not doing that as if things like this video game knock off plan (another trillion dollar industry) happen eventually people are going to have no choice but isolation, regardless of what Corpos want, or military invasion... and yeah, China realizes it can't stop that latter one, but it likes to rattle it's sabers to pretend the situation is different, when in reality it knows it needs nations like North Korea as a trip wire, and doesn't even have the ability to take Taiwan if it wanted to despite screaming for generations it was going to force that issue. You notice that for all the cries of peace, how seriously Pelosi took their threats when she landed there. The sad truth is that while they have some good tech, when it comes to most stuff, it's largely fake. I remember when they had a rail gun mounted on a ship "like the one in that transformers movie, except real" and then they test fired it, and had it rip off it's mounting and kill half the crew. That was a while ago, but well... yeah... there are some reports their new rifles are even worse than the original version of the M-16 that was in 'Nam.

But yes, a bit too long for here, but I re-read it, and given my issues that's actually pretty coherent. I ran it by some other people as well.
I mean you can do the Ra-Ra China thing all you want, but that's just statements of fact and history.
To be Sinophobic you'd have to hate the Chinese people themselves, and this is more a statement on their current behavior, and unlike a Sinophobe you'd notice there is a point about bringing them into the rest of the world community as the end game of everything mentioned. That said I assume it's beyond your reading comprehension level to figure any of that out.
Mostly I posted that for anyone who might be interested in the behind the scenes stuff. I don't expect a lot of responses or thunsb ups on RUclips as it goes beyond most people's willingness to read here, but I do things like this out of a feeling of obligation... and it also gives me a chuckle to put the truth in front of them.
I figure most younger people don't remember the calls for military intervention during the HK takeover, and later when the protests picked up, and the explanations as to why. Likewise Pfizer calling for the US to intervene on the violation of their patent for Viagra was big news for a while, and also reinforced a lot of this, it's just older news, and they spelled out the patent violations and the humantarian reasons why we couldn't exactly start a real war or a trade war right then and there. Basically you can't save The Chinese People by killing them all, and the CCP hasn't become enough of a genuine threat to force our hand, they are just really annoying, and as pointed out we do make a lot of money off of this indirectly as well. At a certain point though it might become needed to say the poison is too deep, the people will never overcome the CCP, and then having to do whatver it takes to reform China at gun point at great humanitarian cost. Not doing anything right now is sort of our justification if that happens later, as we can show how restrained we were under massive provocation. Right now they are giving us an excluse to pretty much isolate them and/or level their society. This means later if we do have to do that we can go down the list, which will include things like this, and explain that is why we're carpet bombing brain washed Chinese and digging the CCP officials out of the rubble of Beijing.

lmao, there's as much similarity between BotW and Genshin Impact as there is between Doom and Counter Strike. Maybe there were some terrains that looked similar to start out in Mondstadt, but damn they really went all out on creating some incredible original artwork between the levels, music, and archon quests. Many things in the game are tributes to other cultures, but they're honestly setting the pace for the rest of the gaming industry right now.

The laissez faire approach in view of funding a dictatorial, tyrannical government is not an approach that is recommended in the long run. I've personally played Chinese games (including genshin) in the past but seeing the predatory actions they carried out on the world stage changed that. You can still satiate your dopamine addiction whilst being aware of consequences and take individual action, rather than hide behind the herd behavior as a validation for inaction.

updraft, enemy designs ( eg octorok from zelda and the dendro slime have the exact same behaviors and attack patterns) , ui , balloon puzzles, art direction, are just a few. genshin even copied from other games like 2b's unique animations. to say that they didnt even remotely steal even one mechanic or design is beyond idiotic and blind fanboyism. theres plenty of comparison videos out there that is incontrovertible proof of plagiarism. you wont need to do that if you actually played botw which obviously you didnt so really you are just talking out of your a s s

Yeah, there is a difference between taking inspiration from something and outright copying it. Genshin is obviously inspired by BotW but it's different enough from it that it can't be considered outright copying. Otherwise BotW is "copying" from all other open-world-climb-tower-to-unlock-map games that came before it as well.

As I know Tencent nowadays is developing The mobile version of Elden Ring, not a copy but just …… you can play elden ring on your mobile phone (Android)when they finished, as well as Final fantasy 14, just like you can play deathstranding and RE8 on iphone.

As a veteran Chinese 🇨🇳, I grew up playing bootleg games. Because video gaming was too pricey for us and the market was full of these copycats. And then approximately around college years I got to know steam and then started buying games. Also many steam games are very cheap. China gaming is like many industries in china, was crap at first place but then due to economic blooming and local protectionism, it grows larger and larger. Finally, the industry is so big that it uses rules and regulations learned from the west to consume and replace its original source😂. To be fair, what makes Chinese so different and also more threatening than other competitors the west used to face is that including Gaming industry, Chinese are so good at the process of learning, copying, catching up and using your rules against you. So you will see china’s rising of 3A games in recent years because the process is complete. Right now making a 3A game in china is very cheap compared with those made in Japan and USA. So I guess in the coming years more 3A games will be made solely by Chinese companies. Put ideology aside, China is just another version of America but the ruling power is the party who plays the game of free markets in a more authoritarian way😂.
