      My guess is the cube was made to open when all elements are present at once. What is inside is probably Aaravos magnum opus. Maybe a primal stone that has all 6 sources. It could also be Light magic. Or a philosophers stone. Whatever it is the most powerful mage put it in a box only he could open having all primal sources so it must be powerful.

      It might also need massive amounts of primal energy that come from ancient elemental sources like Zym or the Sun Forge. Since Xadian creatures and places like Nexuses are abundant magical sources, that may be why Aaravos wanted Viren to steal the power of the Sun Forge and Zym's power to make it possible for him to escape once he gained every element.

    also... another thing that supports my theory of callum leading a team of people with differing arcanums rather than himself using all 6.... is because of one in particular... the star arcanum is the rarest of all of the primals and even most elves know very little about it... the only exception are star touched elves like aaravos... but because star touched elves are so rare and knowledge of it is even rarer... it is very unlikely callum would ever be able to learn it.

      Arcanum Elite if I may add to your argument? What if by having the key itself, Callum establishes a link between him and Aaravos? Aaravos could enters Callum’s dream and we have a dark master subplot where he teaches Callum Star Magic himself as a means of getting Callum to trust him (since it seems the key is being setup as a means to free him) and it climaxes with Callum admitting to Rayla about his meetings with Aaravos?

    • @popaname
      @popaname 4 года назад +11

      It was VERY unlikely for Callum to learn the sky arcanum... but he did. No elf so far has been able to explain their own arcanum and none of them believe humans can possess such a thing. So even though it's unlikely, if anyone is gonna do it, it's gotta be Callum.

  • @vishanthfishy

    I know it's bland but personally I think the secret is simply that the entire human vs Elf war is irrelevant. The key reveals all beings of all kinds no matter species or race can perform all forms of magic. It is not an exclusive art and that everyone and anyone can seek this power. The true war is between those who misuse absolute power (Aravos) and those who use it wisely (Callum)

    • @RohaniBoy

    I thought it could free Aaravos, but it makes no sense for Harrow giving it to Callum. It must, as you said, unlock some hidden power. I don't know if it allows to master the 6 primal sources, because it would become too much Avatar-y, but I sure hides some greater secret, maybe it allows to find some extant nexus, like the moon well, or maybe lead to other planes, including the one Aaravos resides. There are some cool theories around Star Elves' magic around to make some wild guesses.

      Aravos is a friend of all humans who probably taught them dark magic a long time ago. Thus, he can be this hidden power that can help win the war. But I still do not like this theory that the key can release Aravos from prison.

    • @panzerhund8511
      @panzerhund8511 5 лет назад +4

      Also, if it's Aaravos key, I doubt that anyone who locked him would use magical item that he made, to keep him locked. Or it's not really Aaravos property, but it was named that way by the original creator, as a key to unlock Aavaros prison. King Harrow had no idea about magic, but he gave ancient relic to his kid to play, instead of giving in to some mage. Also, Harrow wrote in his letter that it unlocks something in Xadia, and how he was expecting Callum to just walk into Xadia to search for some legendary hidden room? Callum was supposed to be save in a winter residence, not go to Xadia.

  • @thegammagamer3776

    I think the key is more of a box, it's possible the "great power" is actually held within the key. Perhaps once exposed to all six elements simultaneously it will open to reveal something hidden within! Since it's been mentioned that magic is abundant in Zadia, but not the human half of the land, it would make sense for the key to open only in Zadia... where it can finally be expose to all six primal sources!

    The fact that it is the voice of Aaravos in the very first moments of the show can't be coincidental, it suggests to me that he's virtually omnipotent. The fact that he is the one talking the viewer could even be considered breaking the fourth wall in a way. However you put it I think he's the most powerful character in the series so far and who knows what will happen if he escapes the mirror.

      Aaravos seems to be a Satanic figure and the endgame villain. They probably planned for him to be like Ozai in Avatar: The Last Airbender but also learned from the mistakes they made with Ozai, which was not giving him any character outside of just being evil. Aaravos is evil too but at least he has a personality so the final showdown with him should be much more compelling.

    I'm pretty sure Aaravos is trapped between the plane of life and death which Lujanne introduced to us, and he can't escape because the Moon magic rituals that were used to go there are in ruins now. He could also be trapped inside the Key of Aaravos itself.

  • @TrevelyanOO6
    @TrevelyanOO6 4 года назад +2

    I think it is how Aaravos was able to connect to his non-native arcanums, and its how Callum was able to as well. i.e. it a key to ‘unlock’ arcanums and why so few achieve it (they didn’t have this key)

  • @arcanumelite4853
    @arcanumelite4853 5 лет назад +37

    ezran is connected to the earth arcanum... it is why they specifically avoided having callum hold it up to him... but its pretty much all but guaranteed ezran is connected to the earth arcanum due to his ability to speak to animals which falls under the earth arcanum's domain or whatever
    plus hes the only character that callum never held the key up to. probably cus they want to save it for a big "surprise"
    also... i believe the key might lead to the source of dark magic.... if all of the primal magics have sources then why wouldn't dark magic... and dark magic has the power to take from all other primal forces so the gateway to this source being locked behind needing all of the other primal sources would make sense... on top of this being close to the source amplifies that magic so perhaps avaros could have intended to open the gateway to the dark source and that is why he was imprisoned...
    after all... if they banished humans from their land just for using dark magic... what would they do to someone close to the source and even more dangerous... and the other elves called avaros "worse than death" and were absolutely terrified of him.

      This is more in line with what I've been speculating for a while. But maybe it's just my cynicism lol.
      I would point out, though, that Runaan said the mirror is worse than death. He didn't say anything about Aaravos himself. That being said, what better punishment for the elf who taught humans dark magic and sought greater power through it than something worse than death? It would also explain why Aaravos doesn't know where he is, even with such a sophisticated knowledge of all types of magic.

He doesn’t seem like a villain, just a being who’s relishing a connection to another being in such a log time, which is why he’s helping Viren, but I think Aaravos will help any person who comes his way. Aaravos must have been trapped in the mirror because of the practice of dark magic. Regarding this, Aaravos must have been one of if not the most powerful elf at their time, a clear reason why he is trapped in a magical mirror rather than a normal dungeon and that he has opened the cube more than once. Despite being an elf, Aaravos is seemingly friendly toward humans. This means the cube shows the reality, the irrelevance of a war and quite possibly the true nature and greed of humans and how they can be used.This is another reference to which, Later on, foolish old Viren stricken with greed for power will be used to free Aaravos creating chaos but we still don't know Aaravos 's alias so maybe he is in the human's side or he is benefiting only himself as it is likely he is not in the elf side because the elves are not willing to accept him. But that's just my stupid wacky theory which is not even well explained. I just wanted to share it out.

    • @RohaniBoy
      @RohaniBoy  5 лет назад +1

      Viren asked Aaravos in season 2 "Why should I trust you?" And Aaravos replied in a very sly manner "You shouldn't..." as if Aaravos was playing with Viren. Another proof. Runan the moon elf also insisted that mirror is worse than death so it is probable that Aaravos is a villain which might get a season or half in Dragon Prince. But that's just my opinion.

      This is not a theory. It will help you in your videos. In dragon prince season 2, after Aravos confronted Viren, he went to the library to find more information about Aravos but the text in the book deteriorated before Viren could find out any information but we got a quick glance of both the texts the first one was in Danish and the second one was in Arabic. The translation in Danish says “Finally he told me his name. I have never heard a name like his. But i had never imagined an elve(?) like him either. He is stronger and wiser than any other magical creature in Xadia. Yet he is a friend to all people. Where others look down on us, calls us inferiors, he sees great potential in us. When we accept the awards that Aaravos has promised us, they will pay for their conceit they will be forced to see us as equal. And when we are equal, we can take our destiny into our own hands and move our future. I can see it." The translations in Arabic says :-
      "Elarion, seeds trembling
      Lying on the ground on an icy night.
      And in the cold
      [She] withdrew her roots
      Challenging the sting of the deadly winter.

      Elarion, and her blooming flower,
      afraid of wilting, darkness and death,
      Had searched the dark
      For a spark
      And so the eyes of the hungry dragon flared.

      Elarion, the frightened foundling
      Stretched her white branches towards the night.
      Asking the stars,
      To receive her light,
      And to stop the fire of the raging dragon.

      Elarion, in a heavy rest,
      cried while the stars of the skies turned black
      They wore their masks,
      Turned their backs,
      And left Elarion to die.

      Elarion, as her skin struggled death,
      Withered and suffered in the dark,
      Until the last star,
      Reached out from far away
      Its touch: a fire, a gift, a spark.

      Elarion, and her blinding light,
      Embraced the great black flame of night.
      And when she bowed,
      She declared her faith,
      [He] whispered, "Aaravos," his name.

      Elarion, black-eyed child,
      her twisted roots spread deep and far,
      The humans’ might
      sparked by the light
      of Aaravos, her midnight star."

    I think ive figured it out....
    In the opening scene aaravos is shown.
    If you look the star/diamond on his chest is solid and dully glowing. However in his current appearance it is empty and only a outlining with dark center.
    The key of aaravos... It has the missing part in it. (Could it hold aaravos's heart?)
    Reading the translations in the books at the begining he was in love. This could be what changed everything and why he seems heartless/wanting to destroy everything.

    The KEY of Aaravos...
    At first watch, I immediately concluded that Callum is gonna learn all six primal sources of magic...
    On re-watch, I thought, "He's got friends (Rayla and anyone he might come across in Xadia) and possibly a magically attuned brother in Ezran (Earth primal), so learn all primal magic? That'll be a waste of valuable character building, as regards the other protagonists.
    Then I thought, it'll be boring if he just learns the one he's learned now, sky magic and be satisfied with it, it doesn't seem like Callum, then I concluded he'll learn about 3 PRIMAL MAGIC.. This sounds good enough..
    Now, the matter of a Key in the form of a cube that once belonged to Aaravos and later was passed down through the royal family... Before I pop my theory and possible [Spoiler], I've got some suspicions..
    1. Why give it to Callum and not Ezran? When, as we've been led to believe, Callum has never shown an interest in Magic prior to his stumbling on the sky primal stone?
    Now to my whack theory..
    Aaravos was a magical startouch elf prodigy, loved magic and then stumbled on the key itself, or was passed down to him, by the startouch elves.
    Now, I believe the startouch elves were the ruling powers in Xadia, and they knew many secrets and were very knowledgeable so much that they knew the cube was a key to a great power in Xadia. That power being an automatic connection to other sources, or the knowledge of other arcana. Aaravos, being a worthy candidate used the key, passed the test and gained connection to the other sources.
    That brings me to my final sentence for season 3. Callum is not gonna learn the primal sources one by one per season, He's gonna master the sky arcanum for the next three seasons and then become a worthy mage to unlock the power that the key fits into...
    This might be a little too much, but it's worth sharing, ain't it HUMAN FELLOWS, FELLOW HUMANS?

    • @RohaniBoy
      @RohaniBoy  5 лет назад

      That makes sense. He needs to learn the sky properly before he starts any other magic. And maybe the key will allow Callum to gain the Powers of the other sources when he's worthy!

  • @AB-jt4rs

    Theory: Aaravos was the first to discover dark magic. And because he also was an archmage he was probably the most powerful elf in his time. He got imprisoned but he connected a mirror to his prison so he could teach humans dark magic and bring them on the path of destroying Xadia for his own gain. And that might be to be released or just to be avenged.

    I think Callum won't learn each primal source, instead I think as he adventures through Xadia he will meet more elves, he already has Rayla (moon) himself (sky) so maybe as they adventure they will meet elves or maybe even some other magical human like creatures and eventually they will have a team, and then they might only be able to unlock the cube in the dragon king's den, so when they return the dragon prince, they will unlock the box or whatever it is.

    I have a theory! WARNING LONG TEXT
    So in one of the poems that Viren opened when trying to research Aaravos's name, describes blackening eyes of seemingly a human, and it says "Aaravos, my midnight star". He must've gifted dark magic to humans first, which is why he was taken to the King of all Dragons to decide his fate, since he was the most powerful. Quote from Aaravos "He is the reason I am where I am now" He locked him in a mirror, which I'm gonna use some assumptions about Dr. Strange here. In that mirror dimension, it is connected to the real world, but not quite. Time stops, and destruction does not apply in reality unless the person (or elf here) dies. Then they really die. I beleive that is where Aaravos is. Furthermore, remember they found the cube in Amaya's house? Well, that could've been where Aaravos lived, as it was hidden in a simple drawer. Aaravos most likely need that key to practice magic of all primal sources, he must've created it. I think ... To unlock the dimension he is trapped in, all sides must glow and Aaravos will be free, because he is as described "very powerful".

    The Key to the Mirror theory was what came to mind first. Now, I think it might be something of two. Either way, we know it most likely opens something. Why else call it a Key? Unless they mean ‘key’ like the key to a map. So it either unlocks something, or reveals the location of something.
    1. It allows someone, some way to ‘speak’ to the archanum. With the way it’s described, it could be entirely possible that it’s some sort of ‘energy being’. Like the Portals into the Spirit World from Avatar.
    2. This is the one I have the most banking on. The Key allows you to revive the dead through magic. We know so far that mo Mage, human or elf, can reverse death. And with all the characters who’ve died so far in the series, both sides may want to use this power. Perhaps it was something that the Star Elves neglected that fell into the hands of humanity. Aaravos May have tried to teach the humans how to unlock the Key and was thusly sealed in the mirror.
    Post your theories anyone who’s read this far. I wanna see what this Fandoms Greatest minds have in store.

It might also be why humans got the dark power they began to use because he told a human mage but that mage was destroyed by the dragon so he was forgotten and lost to time until Viren found him. Just imagine if Callum, who is learning elements on his own manages to unlock it? I imagine two mages, one elf and the other human but both having unlocked all the powers would make for quite the Epic battle on the scale of when Aang fought at full power in the final last Airbender episode but more so because it'd be like two avatars using elements at full power but each having different knowledge and skills. @@RohaniBoy sorry for the confusion here. By mountain, I meant the mountain symbol on the cube, not mountain in general.

    Or maybe the key IS the prison, If you unlock all six primals AND dark magic then you free him, Or kill him. Who knows? Not me

    One theory, aaravos is the original dark magic dude from the beginning who has the whole convo and tornado with the dragon king and he wasn’t burnt to ash because he saved himself w/ the dark magic and so when he got caught he was put in this anti dark magic vessel so that he couldn’t go anywhere anymore and so he was turned into a caterpillar but over the years he managed to get some magic in his silk (that thing he put in virens eye) and so slowly though aaravos key he will get his power back like what we see when he makes that cocoon in szn 3

    consider how maps have keys, and that the key was given to humans, so maybe it is a guide to dark magic
