  • I'm drn and this is our fifth game in this week's tournament, here we get to play against AZN. The game features a set of Vanishing Crawlers who really didn't want to be left stranded in no man's land! Not my cleanest game, by far. Several mistakes here so lots for us to learn from! Do let me know which mistake was the most egregious in your eyes.
    Hope you enjoy watching as always. Anything you think I've done wrong or could do better please let me know, I'm always looking to improve both my gameplay and the video quality. Suspect there's quite a few epic fails here!

    Razor thin margin, I think you may have overchaffed. I saw a couple different lines toward different games, in particular getting 1 pack of mustangs anyway the goofemup turn, instead of the two tanks. Later I also saw clicking marksman friends when you upgraded your Vulcan to help with the single targets. Thanks for posting and posting! So helpful while I'm on hiatus 😂

      Yeah, watching the footage back I can see quite a few points where playing the game over again I'd go a different path. It's good! Means we're learning!

    With all that tanky units on the board, i would have taken ignite on the vulcan instead of firebombs.
    You will be surprised how ignite vulcan can melt even factories like butter.

      Ignite would have been countered by photon emission, storm callers were effective but drn didn't follow through with the strat.

      @Drone_101  6 месяцев назад +4

      Yep fair point, for some reason I tried to use half of both marksman and stormcallers to counter them rather than commiting to one to get the job done. Split my resources and suffered from it. Lesson learned hopefully!

    Why no ignite on Vulcans? They were latching on tanky units anyway, would have melted them in seconds

      Yeah definitely could have helped, good call!

    I think the game was winnable until the after the Vulcan turn... then you needed to pivot to anti-armor units (scorpion maybe?) instead of buying more fangs. Trying to finish the game from half his HP in one turn was greedy and I think it was downhill from that turn with a push and consumables almost every round trying to close it out.
    Really love watching your videos even though I've never played the game. Most of the mechabellum videos I've found are replays, but I really prefer this format (not knowing what the enemy is doing) and your commentary is so helpful understanding the dynamics that I feel like I could jump in and play passably after watching

      That's awesome! I'm glad just watching the videos is enough to understand both the fundamentals of the game and some of the nuance required in tournament play. I was defo greedy and going for the burst finish would always be optimistic. Need to stay more honest with my economy and stick to the basics rather than going for a speculative win!

    i think in the round you got offered the vulcans, you could have picked overlords, that photon emision is just too good

    I do not understand that when you set the flanking Crawlers, you moved one and when you went to move the other, it selected the crawlers you had already moved.

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  6 месяцев назад

      Yeah it's a bug/feature of the user interface, if you just miss clicking on the unit you want to pick up, it instead grabs a unit you've just moved and puts it into your hand. It's fairly rare but when it happens it always catches me out! Think in the previous video we had a Melting Point that jumped back into my hand but I noticed that time and put it back where it belonged.

    I setiously question the decisoon to add the scorpion to the game. They are a lit like stormcallers in that thry deal tons of daamge at long range and in an aoe. Stormcallers are cheaper and even better against chaff which makes them much more anoying by invalidating all ground units. But in the absence of stormcallers i think people would hate scorpions much more. They are just too good ahainst too many things and are dificult to kill as well.
    I cant even tell what the intention behind them could be. They end up functionally replacing the mp for killing giants. They make the other giants even worse pocks than they already are. And they hard counter sledges, ehich did not need more hard counters than they already had. What were the devs thinking?

    • @volodymyrboitchouk
      @volodymyrboitchouk 6 месяцев назад +2

      Also, i think you should have gone overlord instead of hacker as your free unit of choice. Lots of syuff dies in the first 10 seconds of the battle so the overlord buff tech would have been really useful imo.

    • @Drone_101
      @Drone_101  6 месяцев назад +2

      @@volodymyrboitchouk Yeah, Overlord would've been a great choice here. Can see where you're coming form with the Scorpions being a bit game warping but I think they have clearer and more exploitable weaknesses than Stormcallers do. One shot every six seconds feels a lot fairer than 20!
      Their cost being higher combined with less variance on the AoE hits gives me less feels bad moments, while Stormcallers always seem to have a random round defining kill at some point in the game. Even with all that said I'm coming round to Stormcallers being less of a nuisance now they've taken the edge off them with a few nerfs and I've learned how to better distract and avoid them. Can still be frustrating though!

    You got me to buy play and get addicted to Mechabellum.
    Just ONE thing is strange.
    looking at you playing, it feels their is all the time in the world per phase. When I play it feels like the turn last 15seconds xD
    You talk about three different strats and possibilities while I'm here playing in the sand with toy tanks xD...
    If no time np if no answer:
    I'm having fun trying to force giants, but I don't even know if in this game you can kinda force this or that strat. (I mean, I come from TFT where if you wanna force a comp you will always be able to do it and I'm not sur/I don't feel like it's a good way of playing the game........ Somewhat in other words: Is the game completly meta-dependant or fun things can always be tried?)
    Anyway have a good day. Love from France.

      Hey mrose! Glad you're enjoying the game! Remember I've got over 200 hours played so my decision making will be quicker than yours and that's fine, I'm sure starting out fresh I would be a lot slower too and that's okay. Speed will come with time but there's no rush, some rounds I get real close to running out of time too.
      You can force giants pretty easily, just grab Giant Spec, Aerial Spec or Supply. Early rounds buy chaff like Crawlers or Fangs and leave nice big 4x4 gaps to drop the giants into. Wait til your opponent buys a few units then grab which ever giant would perform well into it.
      Vulcans are great vs chaff and medium ground units (though they struggle against Armor, grab Scorching Flames tech on them if getting stuck on armor), Fortress are my favourite and are great into Tanks and Arclights but often need their Shield tech to really perform, while Overlord are the squishiest giant but also the hardest hitting, just keep them away from Snipers with Anti-Air tech! Melting Points, well watch today's video and you'll get a feel for where they can shine - Sir Mel and Sir Mendes will lead the way :D
      Warfactory is a late game super giant, that you either build as a workhouse factory pumping out units or go Range+Reload speed as a hard hitting cannon wagon. Another good use of Warfactory is for the anti-missile tech, it's really strong against Stormcallers late game! Have fun exploring and don't forget to build a mix of units, rather than all just one type!

      200h+ yep sur enough I got 10^^
      Thanks for all the tips especially the scorching advice. And I must have been influenced too much by your opponent going Warfactory round 3, I guess i try to force those big beast too much^^".
      Any last advice on how to reach the ennemy Meltingpoint that feast on my big bois?
      Have a good day.

      @@mrosef007 Thanks dude! Melting Points are easy, more chaff! Crawlers on the ground (go Subterrean Blitz if the enemy uses Fire from Vulcans or Stormcallers), Fangs marching in lockstep with your giants or buzzing Wasps in the air to distract them. A friend of mine swears by EMP on Wasps as a solution to any problem but I find them a little squishy, if I want EMP I tend to use Stormcallers to disable enemy Range techs.

      @@mrosef007 Haha cheers dude! Enjoy just goofing around with units, if you see an "Improved" or "Mass Produced" card grab it and buy 2x the normal amount of that unit and see how it feels. My biggest tip would be watch the fights closely and pay attention to what the enemy carry units are hitting. If they start hitting your important units too soon then you need more Chaff or Frontline Beef. Good luck and have fun! Hopefully you'll get to play big stompy units against me in a tourney one day!
