A couple of thoughts: The frontal aerodynamics look like they are better with that trailer compared to regular ones - it looks like it would _push down_ the car and thus give better grip. But if it's windy from the side, does it pull on the car in an unfavorable way?
Way over GCWR for a beetle, did they even check? Wind would be a whole other issue. There's a reason these never caught on or the camper set ups they had for cars back then with their own auxiliary wheels
I love stuff like this. What a cool little trailer! The craftsmanship on this restoration is fantastic. It probably looks 10 times better now than it did when it was brand new. Truly some beautiful work!
Those little bug engines, the original 1600s, can do alot. Push around a 71 bus just fine. You let it go at its own speed. Don't expect a lot of power, try to travel when it is not super warm (air cooled, ya know?), just have fun cruising. This restoration is great; I'd love to see one on the road.

Guys it don't have to be to the measurement.. Just build a close version.. The average person isn't going to know anyway. There is enough shown here to get a very good general idea approx how to build your own. It just takes guts, skills and resources.. It's not rocket science; however, it does require skill to pull of a build such as this. Not for the novice by any-stretch of the imagination. Nice Restore Btw.. I dig the video
Take a drink for each time "actually" is spoken.....
Take a drink every time he makes a sucking sound.
Not the color you want if you’re trying to be stealth, lol. What a cool idea, blows my mind a VW bug could tow anything, lol. I’m impressed with people’s creativity
Thank you RUclips recommendations, for bringing us all back to this gem!
Sweet rig, but I gotta think that it doesn't handle very well with the load mounted so high. I bet it's a handful in a stiff crosswind, or if you try taking a tight curve at speed. Still, I'd be happy to have one for the cool factor.
Everybody do a shot every time he says, "actually". 😆
We'd all die of alcohol poisoning!
Matthew Jones 🤭 *snort* 😆
Could never throw enuff props at you.
Huge bug fan all my life owned an original then one of the new ones..
And never heard of or knew of these!
I saw the 1st video & was dying for more info TY, TY, THANK-YOU!!
You're a very talented individual...

Thanks for watching John. I'm guessing this one might get a few views. Everybody loves these trailers. JC.
I bring incredible news: there are more! There is another one that was formerly owned by a user named yamatsuki before ending up in the care of a garage, where it sits for sale to this day. I just emailed the garage and they said it is still up for grabs!
Very cool, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching. JC.
This trailer design is awesome! I just purchased a 1971 Super Beetle and plan to paint it yellow before its over. After seeing this, perhaps when I finish I need to find one of these trailers as well.
You should sell plans so people can make their own
When i watched the video of when you recovered the trailer i was worried that would be the last we'd see of it. Thanks man. Keeping history alive.... And its car history..... The best history.
Is this an original or a replica trailer?
(My English is not very good)
Original - Your English is fine ruclips.net/video/SpwH9WeVEfU/видео.html
It is an original. One of Three known to exist. This is the only restored model. JC.
@@Volkswear oke, wow!
Tanks for the answer!!
This is to cool.Reminds me of the TV show "laugh-In".
Remember Goldie Hawn? She would fit right in with her modeling this VW and trailer.
Take it for a spin.
Maybe next time. I didn't give Bob much notice prior to stopping by his place. JC.
Bob, your the man! Straight 💯. What great stories of family outings I could tell if I had one. So nostalgic👊👍.
He should put chrome hubcaps on it
I thought the caps he had on it matched the setup perfectly. JC.
@@Volkswear That brushed is perfect I think chrome would be too much
Amazing job guys, totally blown away
0 to 60 in, oh forget it never. And no uphill.
Timing it in the quarter mile requires a calendar.
Mark Gigiel wouldn’t count on a whole lotta stop either.
@@corydriver7634 7 pin plug tells me the trailer has, or is supposed to have brakes.
@@alexmawdsley Only tells you its got to have lights :D
"Those bolts are pretty well hidden by the head liner"
You and i have VERY different methods of assessing how well bolts are hidden by head liners . . . .VERY different. 😁😁😁
They could have covered them with the kind of grab handle u often find in that area.
Wow-wee!!! A really cool tool!!!
Awesome... Need to Paint the propane tank .. Can't understand the last few statements ... Echo in building.
The tank may need to be tested if it does test it before painting it. I have an old gas tank on my old trailer and they wouldn't fill it until it was tested and certified. Had both done now they have a new coat of paint I'm getting ready for the lake this summer.
paint it blue and it would be my dream home.💦😍🍻
Esse parafuso, tem vedação pra não entrar água, quando chover ,ficou muito legal, ótimo acabamento
i have always wanted one of these for my bug
Your profile pic tells me your plans had changed a little
