The gaslighting among leadership, even leadership tat claims to be "unradical" and "traditional", will gaslight you into madness if you for one second show you have a piece of information they don't, or have done something better than them in some way.
I can only imagine how full the millenias have been of leaders in nations & armadas, just like this, and how many True Heroes have been exequted because of their gaslighting.

Everything is a weapon from the schools drug testing and jailing abusing children, taking babies blood at birth with no consent, taking 30k children into "foster care" tickets for stockers, surcharges to mobs, drugs from cartel and feds, bio weapons from WHO and China, migrant invasion, raids on farms, raids on patriots and more! we need to fight back this isn't sustainable.

While ignorance is bliss, knowledge is pain and not everyone reacts to pain the same way. Some panic and start shoot holes in the lifeboat; others are cool enough to assess and become more humble. Lessons learned, the world ain't black and white, it's infinite shades of grey. Humbleness can be mistaken for a lack of confidence, when it's knowledge leashed by wisdom.

18series/long time contractor here. Keep up the good work. Don't worry about "those" types who are stuck in certain mindsets or "know it alls." Most of them are unwilling to objectively look at things and are by default, not going to be the best at what they do anyway. Things are vastly different now. Sensors pick up bluetooth from tires, cameras record everything, vehicles transmit information all the time, and countless other things. Much of the small unit tactics taught just a few years ago will get you killed now. Principals remain, but how to deal with them are completely different, and there are some things you just can't deal with. You just have to mitigate them, but there is no way to erase them, just as you stated.

I think tend to think of risk, like privacy, it isn't a "Yes/No" switch, it's a slider. There are tradeoffs for convenience or goals. I like a lot of your videos for putting out kind of sensible "here's how to think about situations". I'm not military, but I like to at least try and make myself the best I can be (even if it's only in a tiny way), and seeing different and varying viewpoints on basically everything help build a more balanced picture.

So good! Personality matters. "Engineers versus Leaders". Condescension turns people away from a speaker. "Everything is a balance". I might add, "Everything is on a spectrum, and there are many of these strings with beads sliding along them in 3D". This doesn't mean that we are prevented from coming to conclusions or that we are paralyzed for action. It means that we can never stop collecting, appraising, collaborating, analyzing, and acting according to our best understanding.
My career had a lot to do with integration. I worked with people from coast to coast, in Australia, and Russia. Sometimes there is the "One Right Answer" for a tactical problem such as a software problem or hardware replacement. Most of the time we need to understand the "customer", the team leaders, the project managers, the upper management, and the technical experts. This means we have to TALK to all of them "where they live". Face to face. There is no place for condescension, and being the "Little Professor" or "The Warlord" isn't very useful in real life.
Thank you for making this video. I suspect many of your videos have been more helpful than you can know.

A small group of preppers from our church have set up comms with several radios on different bands. AM, FM, and rebuilt military field phones. We us code words we set up and change frequently for meeting up, changing radios and frequencies and places to meet at. Several times a year at our bi monthly meetings we practice our radio skills so everyone can stay comfortable using the equipment. We also do weekly radio checks at preset times and just talk normally to help everyone stay proficient with how to fix problems that arise with the radios. We are always trying to improve and different ideas are always welcome to think outside the box. It's just a suggestion that can help others prepare for what's coming. Great channel love the wire and videos like this. I'm glad you talked about this subject.

A good lesson about radio use that I think was evident during GWOT was that the enemy that ultimately defeated America had no problem communicating in the open, knew that their comms were overheard and compensated by using a difficult foreign language, difficult dialects and local slang. Hearing someones radio chatter doesnt matter if you can't understand it or if the person transmitting just doesn't care that you can hear them, because they're using their own fluency system.

This is so many good points. Wel said. Yes the ham community in my experience and many of my buddies trying to learn basics of comms are talked to like we are special needs (we may be) but we are trying to learn. Radio Fudds are so difficult to deal with and get any basic knowledge from or have them give you a basic of why X, Y or Z isn't the way to do something. Like many of us who started with Baofeng radios who want to learn we have radio guys tell us Nope, piece of junk, you're not going to be able to use it. You need whatever $1500 radio to get started if we are going to take it seriously. Well we don't have that budget right now and the Feng is what we are working with for now.
We want to be able to give basic information to each other and use our gear to train as we upgrade supplies. Many of us started with LBE vests,a Baofeng and a $500 AR with a few mags. We are learn and grow as we can. Absolutely I would love night vision. It's awesome but not even close to top priority over food sources, water and medical supplies. Not to mention just daily life.
Related to radio fudds and other people who are looking to bash people. A guy I know who is a tech whiz showed an encrypted connection he came up with using a small Raspberry Pi system and a Baofeng for radio comms in a SHTF/Disaster scenario and so many comms guys LIT HIM UP. Even threatened to report his Instagram I believe. People saying it was illegal to encrypt ham and he shouldn't be showing this equipment, the FCC this and that. He explained it was a fun project to play around with and he wasn't actually running encrypted ham. It was for a disaster and him, and myself lived through multiple riots. That's why he wanted this for if groups looting had radios and certain groups are using radios FRS/GMRS channels To communicate on Baofeng and other radios he wanted to not have his comms intercepted to others moving to safety in the area. No care from the asshole who bashed him.
We are still taking about mesh nodes and solar to keep them powered to have comms in a cyber or grid attack. I need to talk to him again soon and see how it's coming along. He's helped me be less of a ludite with this stuff. Very few others actually will help with learning comms.
Other skills many are open and happy to teach others and even learn from students. Working in TacMed training I've picked up some cool stuff from students over the years. As well as other staff I work with. But in the gun community you do have some people who are the "buy this or have that, or you're going to die" I agree wholeheartedly this BS needs to stop. Work with everyone from new people with the bare bones to the guys with 50k in gear that actually train.
Lastly I would agree no person should be hoping for war or to use their gear for anything besides training. It's all LARPing and fun, people want to justify their kits in a conflict until bullets come their way.

Fun fact, when the Marines got rid of my MOS in 2019 my company rolled my fellow 51s to an experimental scout unit. When the first MWX kicked off we had just been established like 2 months prior. We wanted our own internal comms, but we couldn't personally afford much. Since I was leading that effort I settled for some Motorola Talk About radios. A week after we got them and got familiar we went to the mountain warfare center. Being scouts we were well ahead of main. Guess what, our PRC-152s didn't work worth a shit in the mountains but my radios did. We called them blue gear, but since we reported right to our XO he grabbed one of ours and that's how we communicated until the scouts were disbanded in 2020, even during MWX with a lot of EW going on. Obviously these weren't encrypted radios, but our transmissions weren't ever intercepted because they're on the civi freqs and no other units we're listening for them. Long story short, you can play the game if you know what the game is.

HELLO - I really appreciate your daily "The Wire" productions, as well as your extensive sharing of information concerning radios and communications. I got derailed from my originals plans a few years ago of traveling to Boston to get my HAM license, which I in addition to acquiring to legally permit radio transmission on the 2-meter band on the used R/S HTX handheld that I acquired, but to also allow video transmission on the 2.4GHz band, for custom RC models, such as drones, land vehicles, water craft and RC "craft" for FPV "piloting".
I have immensely enjoyed and have been fascinated with some of the capabilities that you have described in your videos, especially in the domain of transmitting digital data.
At this time, I tinker with CB radio, but it does not seem to be as popular as it used to be in my area, and I do not have a outdoor base station antenna at this time. Anyway, I wanted to commend you on your ongoing efforts and endeavors, and I hope that you continue to produce "The Wire" into the future. _John_

After leaving the Marine Corps and entering my career in Environmental/Health/Safety, I quickly realized (especially compared to some of my peers) how important leadership skills are to achieving the goal of my position within the management structure. I am thankful to have learned leadership traits from great leaders in the Corps which directly translated to my ability to get workers engaged in their own safety, while still understanding that nothing can be 100% safe, not to mention properly dealing with those who reject that culture and put others around them at an unacceptable/willful risk. The biggest problem I face within the industry is my own peers. When you aid in resentment from those you are put in place to keep safe, or become so risk adverse it prevents them from doing their job effectively, people will get injured, milestones will be missed, missions will fail and the enemy will exploit your weakness.

Agree. Comms are essential at a strategic and tactical level. If you study the past wars, you'll see that among the first things we target against our enemy is Communications - the eyes and ears. Cut them off, and you create confusion, and break our enemy's command and control capability. It's critical to consider your communications plan- including chain of command, comms technologies to use for various situations and to have 'tested' alternate/contingency plans for if and when your comms are disrupted. Thanks S2 for the good tips.

Agreed. I'm an EE and a HAM. In the Engineering world egos always run high. The Ham world is hit or miss. We must remember to teach and have patience when bringing new people up to speed. Analysis paralysis is very real. Seen a lot of EE auger down on something for weeks just to go with the same conclusion they started with. Due diligence is important. Experience is knowing when to turn it off.

Young EE without said experience here...even in my limited time in the field, it is painfully apparent how much ego can stall progress in any field in any circumstance, either from lack of experience or sometimes just too much of it.
Though it could be classified as semantics, I suppose that could be the difference between "experience" and "wisdom"? The awareness of when to utilize a healthy ego or experience but also temper it with some people skills and/or just shutting up.

I think that it's not just the communication world, but just any highly technical field. It's been my experience (ranging from aircraft mechanic all the way to IT specialist), that the vast majority of people in that dedicated field tend to put off non-skilled individuals because they are the "keepers of sacred knowledge", while I have found out that most of this knowledge really isn't anything all that complicated.
I think you are making great strides bringing this kind of knowledge to the community and are doing good work informing everyone in the community so we all can learn how to be better prepared and ready for any eventuality. Kudos brother!

I think you just touched on a future topic for videos. What can 1 person do? What can 4 families do? What can 10 people do? What can a neighborhood do? What can 50 people do when spread out all over a county? And simply keep scaling between families and individuals.
This does get into any idea brewing in VA about community missions, which is everything that a militia used to be historically without the scary "M" word. What could a citywide backup comms plan look like if it were to be run by the citizens of the area within budget, usability, and access by the person who hates comms?
Regardless of all that, keep up the fine work and I appreciate all that you do.

There is a book called "total resistance", published by the Swiss military in the 60s to counter a soviet invasion. Some of the stuff is dated like telephone wires. But the core of it I feel is solid, and part of it explains that being able to communicate with other groups or cells is critical not for tactical or strategic reasons, but for moral and not feeling like your fighting alone and quit. I would put it in the top 5 things the have a impact on success. I always say, if you attract the attention of a alphabet agency, get your own personal drone, or dedicated time from a super computer, you are doing something wrong

I think you nailed it man. People need to be careful who and what they are listening to from people. It seems like there is a lot of this is the only possible way to do this because whoever on Instagram or RUclips that claims they were a special forces/sniper/ninja said. There is always more than one way to skin a cat, and sometimes that special forces/sniper/ninja was never even in the military. People need to put in the time and research stuff themselves. Instead of just listening to what someone else says.

People: if I were recruiting, I'd look at people into shortwave listening. Let's face it, anybody can key up a transmitter. It take discipline and some smarts to consider "is this a good idea right now?"

I've tried to get into radios, but it's a challenge when I'm not ashamed and have no one to try it with. Same with the small unit tactics, no one to go out and test stuff. Even if I met someone, it's like you said, just because they have some mil experience doesn't make them an encyclopedia on all of it. Thanks for trying to start these conversations. We’re always hearing the adage that we’re always planning and preparing to fight the last war rather than the next one, and this seems to be true from the very top military brass to the solitary citizen. I appreciate your perspective on this. The problem with trying to predict the best strategies for the future is that the real crucible of military doctrine has always been real world experience, and there’s always a costly learning process after a shift in paradigm. As citizens, I think the best thing we can do is acquire some basic tools and knowledge, build a network, keep our heads down, and prepare ourselves to be flexible and adapt to current conditions when they occur.

I find myself very eager to prove people wrong or put myself in a position to say "I told you so". I am not a radio expert. I have been working on ways to become more humble and love to hear ideas and success stories. This video may help some people see this kind of thing. Its important to be grateful, peaceful and kind to others. I do feel gratitude from helping and teaching people and should probably focus more on that rather then proving my point or being right or letting egos and emotions come into play.

    - One thing I've learned is that some plans fall apart as situations evolve, while other plans emerge as more logical.
    - Our ability to adapt to uncertainty and unpredictable circumstances is vital for survival and coping.
    - Mitigating risk, while important, is not everything, and taking risks is sometimes necessary and prudent.
