    Which do you prefer guys? Any reasons you wouldn’t buy the P Gear?

      I would prefer it to connect with my standalone/android/rasberry apart from your app...so I can use it in my logs at the track...
      You really need to put this in someone's hands who will use it at the track or has a fast 1/4 mile on the street for comparison....
      In theory it should be better obviously, I do prefer the cup mount and since most of my 1000hp testing is done illegally, I very much like that it fires up quicker...often with dragy when I get a break in traffic I either have to wait, what in that situation seems like an eternity OR I have to live with 30 results entries with only one "test hit" by having it on all the time.....
      My dragy has my car in the 10s around 138mph on the street in the 1/4 and is at different incrementals quite off from the track including 60ft....
      I'm considering one.....I like the 20hz...definitely wish it would call out 1/4 mile because it's getting hairy on a dusty 2 lane....im not gonna look away lol....
      No one I've found yet mentions if they get the Samsung video stabilization on work on this and if you can upload the video to YOUR cloud...

      @@ShawnGilbert1967 it’s worth contacting them direct about that as they always like the feedback and have a great coms/R&D team.
      I would love to use it in my race cars when I’m in the series’s and championships I race in but we have to use a super high end logger with at least RPM pick up for live data logging and data capture that can be fed to the series/track coordinator if needed when there are incidents.
      I’m in no doubt this is better than a dragy living with both and still owning both.
      That being said I now find myself only using this.
      Thanks so much for watching, please stick around and subscribe as it’ll be great to have you around.

      @@PeakPerformanceReviews I don't circuit race ( I'd never have enough skill not even in my youth), I omitted the car because you wouldn't like it lol it's a 67 Camaro I bought from my uncle over 30 years ago and will be passed to my grandson..
      Now before you poopoo it, do realize we MADE the induction by taking a discontinued for 20 years small oval port high velocity street tunnel ram intake and converting it to sequential multi port fuel injection...of which I phase injection evens vs intake valve position...making inserts from a 3D printer ( don't last to go under the homemade top using a 102mm LS throttle body ) and the 4l80e over drive trans with billet lock up thru a walnut polished gear aluminum 9inch carrier...
      The TCU and engine management communicate via CAN...and I'd love to add this for similar reasons, as I use a Rasberry Pi4 mini computer and 10.1" 2k screen to interface with the standalone controllers ( In process of total home built digital dash replacement using it )...and I could do GeForce vs gear vs rpm ect ect...I can get a 10hz unit but man this would be nice...
      So yes while I don't fit into your crowd, I have tried to modernize it without dropping a LS swap in it like everyone else to the point of just making parts....maybe I get points with your crowd for that haha.....
      I have already emailed them based on your recommendation....thank you for tolerating this old near boomer everyone.....

      @@ShawnGilbert1967 you don’t know me or the channel well enough then haha I love a classic car and own around 6 other cars, only 2 of my cars are modern. @@PeakPerformanceReviews I shouldn't have assume that, the product flashed in my Facebook feed, then first channel indicated this was used in Japan and Europe while the Dragy had the market in US....then I jumped here and based on the test car, I ASSUMED, which obviously is almost never a good thing haha....
      For me since I make "street hits" a lot the dragy was very useful, hopefully this more so, because if I speed up on the street with mods and tuning, then I know it might be time to make a trip to the drag strip...to weirdly back up the indicated improvements....
      That shows you how well these devices work, it can be different from track fine but if it's consistent then I know if I gain 2mph in the 1/4 on the Pgear, might be worth taking it to track to see if I can set a personal best.....
      Also it gives me a baseline from the track to try to match up street traction control as best as possible...
      Also can let you know if you have a component going from tires to trans....
      Super useful imho

    Thanks for the review. I still have one question though! Sometimes doing a Highway run, there might not be time to reset the app. I know dragy will save all measurement, even though you do multiple 0-100, 100-200, etc. in one run without hitting ‘reset’.
    I have downloaded the P Gear app, but the P gear, also in the video, seems to not do that and only register one measurement for one speed. Right?

    I don't own any of these devices, but I'm considering getting one (that's why I watched this video).
    You cannot compare accuracy against any of these devices, unless you have a KNOWN accurate baseline measurement. In terms of 1/4 mile times, you have to run all of these devices AT A DRAG STRIP, and at the same time, where they have laser timing devices. At that point, you can compare the percentage of deviation regarding 60-foot times, 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile, etc. That is the only way to accurately compare each of the devices' accuracy.
    "It's cheaper", isn't a valid metric, and even the data visualization it provides is secondary, because the only thing that really counts is how accurate it is. Nicely displaying inaccurate data is - well - pointless.
    Admittedly, the PGear is a 20Hz device compared to the Dragy's 10Hz, so that would imply it's more accurate (more data points = better data).

    • @PeakPerformanceReviews
      @PeakPerformanceReviews  2 года назад

      The last thing you say is exactly what I explained. At the end of the day it’s a £100-140 device not a £1000+ box.
      I’ve done multiple tests with both this and a dragy box and against laser timing it has consistently proven to be incredibly accurate, especially for this price point.
      I think for recreational use I don’t know why we need to look too deep into much else other than the fact it was damn great and appears super accurate and has been proven time and time again to be so.
      I may not be showing this in this exact video but I really don’t need to.
      If you expect more for that price ….. then I’d say you need to go find something else and spend way way wayyyyyyyy more if you are happy too.

      I have done that but have loads of different cars, the suction mount solution is a much better touch imo.

    I have watched several RUclips videos, including this one now, that have claimed that Pgear's accuracy is better (or worse) than Dragy's but the fact remains nobody has proved ANYTHING. I sit here in disbelief at the claims being made by all these videos. With the unscientific methods being used the best anyone can claim is Pgear is about or maybe no more inaccurate than Dragy. Where is the controlled variable or test. If you want some evidence of actual proof one way or the other go to your nearest Drag Strip and make a pass with both Dragy and Pgear up and running and then compare them both to the track's Accutime II Timing System (no later than version 9.7.1) print out of the Time Slip. These timing systems are accurate to less than +/- .001s and .05 mph (10x more accurate than Dragy's own claim) This will tell you if Pgear is as accurate as Dragy. Anyone who has compared Dragy to a NHRA timing system knows Dragy CAN BE very accurate and can also easily be .15s and 1.5 mph off depending on the satellite positions your Dragy has locked onto or horizon signal interference.

    • @PeakPerformanceReviews
      @PeakPerformanceReviews  2 года назад +1

      Did you even watch all the video??? I have both, I’ve then look at the timings of both boxes …. There both pretty much bang on the same! In short I’m saying it’s proving both are accurate as we all know Dragy is accurate. Yep Dragtimes have proven it enough. I think the only thing I’ve said is in theory this should or could be more accurate.
      In reality these boxes are amazing for the money. What more did you get from this that annoyed you so much????

    • @PeakPerformanceReviews
      @PeakPerformanceReviews  2 года назад +1

      Are you upset that no one is trying to prove a circa £100 box is not as accurate as laser timing or the like? That’s laughable, the reality is these boxes are mega for the money and some basic tests are plenty good enough for most people to be happy they are decently accurate.
