Looks like a nice upgrade from my 3K. Many thanks for the reviews man!
My pleasure!
Thank you for the review pavlo. They seem like a good upgrade too my original btr5. 🙂
Thank you, friend! Sure it is
nice review man as usuall
thank you!
Hi, thanks for the review.
May I ask how the microphone sounds to the other end on phone calls?
Hello, it sounds pretty OK, but for best results it's better to move it closer to your mouth
that is a pretty device.
Appreciate your great review as always and would like your opinion, if this greater upgrade over the BRT7 which is my go to...
Thank you! No, it's not a replacement for BTR7, as 7th is still a bit better. So I suspect FiiO will release BTR17 in some future
Awesome review as always! For my HD 660s2 should i get btr15 or fiio ka13 or do you have any other better recommendations? Keep in mind, i would choose usb mode most of the times in btr15 anyway.
If you don't need Bluetooth, take KA of course
I’m looking at these and the Shanling UP4. Is there a discernible advantage to picking one over the other or is there just small differences that make it a matter of preference?
UP4 is warmer and sounds more tight and impactful
Can you control the volume via the iPhone? (Or only with the BTR15 buttons?)
on iPhone changes of volume on device will always impact Bluetooth
@@PortaFi i meant via USB-C connection. But i can confirm now: it doesn’t work via USB-C
can you tell me where the sound is better, in FiiO KA13 or FiiO BTR15 ?
I won't say that there is a big difference in sound to make choice based on that. KA13 is slightly better, but in this case it's safe to choice based on your requiremets. Because both models have pros and cons in terms of usage
I wonder if this device supports Apple's ALAC codec, I don't see it included in the codec settings
ALAC is not used as a Bluetooth codec. It's a codec used for file compression.
@@PortaFi but, that means that I can use Apple Music on my iPhone to reproduce lossless songs (24bits/192kHz) with the Bluetooth and by cable, with the BTR15 added using AAC codec? Or how it works in this case to reproduce lossless music on iPhone? Thanks for your response
No, that doesn't mean that. First, we need to distinguish Bluetooth codecs and codecs used for files. AAC is used for both, while ALAC (or FLAC, WMA, etc.) used for files only.
Bluetooth codecs are unpacked on the device side, so it need support for particular codecs to use them.
While in case of file codec, it will be unpacked by source's (telephone's) processor and then transmitted to BTR15 as PCM signal over USB or will be packed by Bluetooth chip to one of Bluetooth codecs to transmit wirelessly.
So, BTR15 will support any file codec that iPhone can understand. In case of USB connection it will be transferred as is without quality loss. In case of BT there will be some loss
Hi can we charge the btr15 while using bluetooth?
I didn't test this scenario, but most likely it does
Friend, tell me some headphones or a player with physical keys to rewind tracks 10 seconds forward or backward. and not just switching tracks forward back, do such things even exist?
Unfortunately, I don't know such ready-made solutions, but I suspect that some android apps can do keys remapping for that. But I'm not sure.
I'd really recommend you to ask on Head-Fi.org, it's a big forum, and people there can provide much more practical answer :)
how does it compare with BTR7? for me the BTR7 is quite an amazing device in terms of sound performance, so I think I won't need the BRT15, but I'd be happy to see smaller and cheaper devices reaching a similar level of quality - thanks for the video !
You should get another BTR for the "♾️ BTR mode". 😂
I did a brief comparison in the video. In short, BTR15 is close to BTR7, but latter is still better due to more advanced amp.
I think we'll see BTR17 in some not distant future
@@PortaFi oh sorry I didn't catch that! thank you - BTR7 for me is an amazing device
@@Manupassero sure, BTR7 is unique: good DAC and decent amplification in a small case. I'd really like to see BTR17 of whatever that will be named :)
According to the website, the BTR 15 delivers 340 MW of power where the BTR 7 delivers 320. How can the amplification be better in the BTR 7?
Only you can connect BTR15 not to smartphone but to FIIO m17 that costs more than 15 times.
I don't think I'm unique in this aspect, but it's definitely not a reasonable thing to do in real life :) I have one smarthpone, and I use it as a camera. But I have a bunch of different Android DAPs, so the rest is straightforward :)
I have no idea why the eq is not working on phone mode?!
The best solution here is to contact FiiO support for troubleshooting
I'm from the future to tell you that they already released the BTR17 😊😊😊and ask you if BTR15 is good to drive my planar KZ PR2... Thanks!
to be honest, I didn't test KZ PR2, but most likely it'll be a good pairing. but it's not 100% :)
@@PortaFi thanks!
Can it be used for Gaming? Oh Phones?
I don't know, as I'm not playing on smartphones
There is fiio ka17 dongle with 650mw output l think...😅
Yes, FiiO left no time to relax, new items are constantly coming )))
So this update to the BTR5 work with it's QE on pc now? When i found out on the BTR5, i could QE it and then it would not work on PC i did not try it at all.
you mean EQ? it works for a bluetooth connection only
@@PortaFi So EQ is app only agian and not saved on the BTR15? i can't use the EQ when hooked up to pc as a DAC?
@@Dark3Nesz actually, I was wrong. EQ is applied both to Bluetooth and DAC connections
@@PortaFi cheers will order one later in the year :)
А по русски то есть обзор?
У меня нет. У других обозревателей может быть
I hate this update. They should have just ditched the design. Even though it's smallest in its category. The battery will get puffed up in a year or two if you use it daily with balanced (max a year & half). & once it does you'll have to solder a new battery as it's not even using a plug & glue those glass panels if they aren't already cracked. Better go for slightly larger devices with much bigger battery size even if on paper their battery life is same. For example muze m4. Also hate the single type c especially as fiio can't design a ui that works as charging will be turned off automatically when it's on & to turn charging on you'll have to try your luck with double pressing the side button to get into settings. 😂
lot of people like exactly the small size of this
I used a btr5 daily for about three years, I didn't do anything to keep the battery in good condition, I haven't had any battery problems and it'ls still in good condition, I have other similar devices and have not experienced any battery issues. Charging does not switch off when on.
