God I hate being around with spiders! But despite this, I have a huge huntsman spider whom I named “Steve.” I pay his rent and promise not to spray my insecticide on the agreement that Steve would kill cockroaches AND keep his distance. So far we’re getting along just fine. For some reason, I get worried and sad on days when I couldn’t see any sign of his presence. I loathe the thought he might be dead. But I also get extremely anxious when I see him on a wall with his huge long legs and all. It’s complicated.
Just saw one that had to be about 6 inches in diameter hanging out above my closet door, called my mum in to see it and she immediately yelled "kill it". I was like screw that, I'd rather have that hanging around than these darn chihuahua sized palmetto bugs here in Florida.
For me, it's probably that there is a wolf spider watching this video with me. The Huntsmen that was here left to find the narrator and his friends because of some of the inaccuracies in the video.
I love this spider. I live in the Philippines and there are many crawling bugs such as crickets, roaches and ants all over. It's good to have the huntsman spiders around the house, because it will get rid of those nasty insects. Thanks for letting us know how important the hunstman spider is. God bless
In Australia we call our Huntsman, Mates! I love these spiders too & have no issue when they move inside for a few days except when they run across ur face in the middle of the night

This happened to my cousin, she is a nurse and was on the way to work one morning, I been told these days all deaths by spiders are caused this way, no one has died from a bite in decades

Used to have a few pet huntsman spiders, lovely lil things. One would just sit on my shoulder or chest and chill there for ages. My tarantulas, funnel webs, jumping spiders and wandering spiders are the same, they’re amazing pets in my opinion. Love them all. I have a green bellied huntsman and I’m buying a few other ones soon, can’t get enough of them.
People like you should be respected more. I hated all spiders one point in my life but now I just think to myself 'this creature is just living. It's doing what it needs to do just to survive like me.' Of course I still get creeped out by them but I wouldn't say I hate them now at all. How in the world do you allow it to sit on your chest and on your shoulder?!?!

One wrong statement here. It’s not 15000 species worldwide. It’s 45000 species. And there is probably thousands or more species out there that have yet to be discovered and named/categorised. Especially the extremely small ones. (Few millimeters)
My classmate has a huntsman spider we rescued oreo the huntsman spider shes really gentle! We know how to take care of it too when i held her she felt lightweight and plush-like!(we live in the philipines) my other classmate shook her off her arm so aggresive that 2 of its legs are gone.poor oreo!
Never saw them until I got a cabin in the mountains of San Diego. They love the vertical surfaces of the outside of the house and typically will live under a loose shingle. I’m not wild about them

The biggest i saw was about 3 inches across, i was just about to take a bath that time and that thing moved across the bathroom at light speed. And it had steak legs lol.
The huntsman are in the house, redbacks are in the garage, I normally leave them alone, BUT once one I was leaving alone, did fall on my face during the night, luckily it was only when I really woke up in the morning that I screamed
Have you seen those compilation videos of goats screaming? That's the sound I would be making if I ever encountered one of these guys in an enclosed area. I know, harmless to humans, and prey on other pest insects, but they'd still creep me the heck out.
I wouldn’t think something as big as this is a nuisance. They are very good predators due to their size and speed. I’d much rather see a Huntsman spider than an ant or roach.
I remember the time back when I was about 12 years old, maybe a bit older. I was taking a nice long bath, when suddenly I look up and there is a spider dangling above my head 😬 I was lying down at the time and I went to duck under but I slid and the spider fell on my knee!! And this was a normal black house spider. I think I'd die if a huntsman did that.
I live in New Zealand, and I can safely say we do not have this spider living in the south island. If we did I would not be living in New Zealand any more.

The Goliath Spider is known to be way bigger than all of the Huntsman Spiders. The Golden Orb Spider is known to be the oldest Spider than other spiders.

The Goliath has another nickname, dinner plate spider. A friend of mine was a collector of spider's, as many species as he could get ahold of from the floor to the ceiling in his own bedroom. Nothing but aquariums and a twin bed he slept in.

It's very easy to overestimate their size. There's been so much talk of dinner plate sized huntsmen in Australia, and yet not one photograph with a reliable sense of scale. Beregama aurea and Typostola barbata, considered to be the two biggest species here, both typically reach 16cm or so at maturity.
If you know anything about huntsman spiders, you'll know that by the time you've gone to find your camera to record the thing bigger than your dinny plate, it's pissed off and is hiding somewhere. Don't let them out of your sight until the boot hits them, and by then they're all curled up and smushed

The goliath bird eating spider is the heaviest spider. The huntsman spider is the same size as a dinner plate when it's got it's legs stretched out.
I'll tell ya here and now shagz, your "dinner plate" record holders are babies compared to some I've seen in my Sydney laundry

I came here to hopefully learn some facts about this spider so I would be so scared when I see them in my house. But I am more frightened :’(
