    I had a Torino Cobra as a kid in High School and it kills me today that I sold it tom buy a 77 Firebird Formula new with a 4 speed. The cobra was insane fast with the factory Hurst 4 speed and drag pack . I felt the car was special but didn't know what I had at that time!! All I have to prove it is 5 old photos which I framed and hanging on the wall. It hurts today now more then ever!! Thanks so much for your work on this beautiful piece of machinery!! Very rare and hard to find!! Believe me. I have been searching for years to find one to restore without paying the big bucks!!

    I bought tires for my Tbird March 2021 and found the same thing you did. Only two tire brands with white letters and different sizes. I used Cooper 215/70/R15 and 295/50/R15 back

    Older video but I have a 315 35 17 under the rear of my 70 on a 10.5 wheel with factory tubs and springs. Used a .25 spacer for a little extra spring clearance. No rubbing and plenty of clearance everywhere fwiw

    The next thing you need to improve the looks is to get the original color keyed sport mirrors. The GT was the only Torino to get them as standard equipment in '70, and it don't look like a GT without 'em.

    Love the way these cars look, and I kinda agree … I grew up with these cars, so 15s just kinda look right. Those new wheels you got look great on it!
    However, if it were my car, especially as big as these things are, Id be cramming as much brake in there as I could … 14” or even 15”. I think 14” will fit inside an 18” wheel, and that wouldnt be TOO much of a compromise. The 19s from my 17 Mustang GT I think would be crossing that line where its just too big to still be acceptable. If I could find 18s that have less offset and more centrally located bolts, I would go that route, so I could have 14” disc brakes

    • @ottohansen4008
      @ottohansen4008 2 года назад +1

      that’s always the trade off. smaller wheels means smaller brakes. but who needs brakes when you look 😎 cool.

      @@ottohansen4008 lol right?! Im all for lookin cool, until Im going down a long, windy hill and the brakes start fading halfway down! I remember my 69 Mustang, with its 11” front discs and rear drums, going down the short-but-steep windy hill from top of the world in Laguna Beach, on a hot summer day, and halfway down the brakes basically gave out …

    Hey this doesn’t have anything to do with the tires but I have a question, have you changed the steering wheel to a aftermarket? If so did you have trouble with the horn? I’ve got a 71 Torino and the horn is controlled by pretty much a button and when I put the steering wheel on it just blasts the horn. Not sure what to do with that since the kit doesn’t have anything for that

    • @junkbucketgarage
      @junkbucketgarage  3 года назад +1

      oh man that sucks. i haven’t changed the steering wheel in that car yet. i did have a similar problem with an after market wheel in a 66 mustang years ago. the contact ring was grounded out against the button spring. i had to adjust the springs position and it cured it. some of those aftermarket wheels are just finicky. good luck buddy thanks for watching. 👍

      @@junkbucketgarage ok. Im going to try and see if they're interchangeable between those two units. It's because i need one for my car and i found out that if i search for Torino is twice expensive than for mustang, but they're quite the same. So, im thinking of buying a mustang unit for it, and see what happens. Either way if doesn't fit I'll just return it.
