A great meal is chicken taco soup! Chicken bone broth mixed with taco seasoning loaded with mixed veggies like mushrooms and tomatoes plus whatever else you like. Its very tasty and easy to make in bulk.
Regarding China, MSG, and Obesity. This is just my observation as someone that's lived over a decade in China through a big period of change. MSG is a condiment here. But I wouldn't even consider it an important factor, even if there is any affect. Part of it is a change in the stigma towards being fat. Part of it is the higher availability of calories and new habits. People before the 90s generally lived through a period where calories were not very available. People after the 2000s have had a surplus of calories readily available. Finally, less people are cooking. It's easier and cheaper to eat out, especially while working as much as some people do. Because food has generally become cheaper, it's slowly become more calorically dense and palatable. When I first arrived, I would have never imagined a day where an obese person could dance on tik tok and receive any praise. But it's a thing now.
The numbers don't quite add up.. If 2000 kcal is -1kg/week, then 3000 is maintenance. 4000kcal is +1kg bulking. I guess there are some other things going on too like lowered BMR and NEAT in a cut..
