As a psychologist who has tested clients regularly, I wanted to chime in about the IQ section. I don't know about the practic of using the Raven's matrices on its own, as it only measures fluid intelligence. Instead it's commonly used in conjuction with other tests. The WAIS IV is better to use on its own since it also measures verbal intelligence. It's possible for people to have quite a difference on the verbal and fluid IQ score. If so, you can't calculate a total IQ score, and have to report both scores seperately. A problem with IQ tests is that scores can be artificially inflated when practiced, as you figure out the patterns and tactics to use. When I test for IQ (in an adult psychiatric population), it's always in conjuction with personality tests and other cognitive tests to get a global picture of the client. Also totally agree that IQ doesn't equal success. I'd say the ability of self-control and conscientiousness are far more important to success.
When Dr. Mike started talking about fast twitch versus slow twitch/taking damage versus resistance to damage, it made me smile because I’ve postulated this myself in the past. I’ve had people who don’t necessarily enjoy the science side of training shoot me down on the idea but it made me feel good to hear him say it.
A thing I have with SLDLs, is that I don’t feel them much in my hamstrings, I slow the eccs, keep my knees in check. But the next day, and pretty much the following 3, my hamstrings are absolutely fucked up. So I don’t really FEEL the gnarly stretch, but I get ultra fucked up. So I’ll just keep doing them like I have

A que that helped me feel the stretch more is to dig my heels into the ground on the concentric portion of the movement. Like Im trying to pull my feet back to my ass instead of just shoot my hips forward. I don’t know if it’s because I get a better contraction but after I do that que the stretch becomes much more perceptive on the eccentric.
Idk if I agree on the Weak Point stuff… if it really bothers you having skinny calves or forearms, or having a weak bench or squat, etc then I think improving that should be your main objective
I get much better results with a weight that allows me full rom on hamstrings, especially on lying down machine ham curls, gives you the curvature in a short time. However the standing ham curl works better as heavy as I can to 90 degrees. I don't know maybe it's new news for you and might be of help.
Jordan Peterson personality test was life-changing. Paired with an IQ test I learned that my IQ actually wasn't that high but I'm in an executive position. Success isn't defined by IQ.

It's also important to point out that as with every test, it's somewhat reductive in its approach and the theory on intelligence has and continues to evolve and there are theories you can explore on intelligence other than the one used by the WAIS. Finally, any score you get is an estimation and the noise gets even greater if you self administer it at home as opposed to going through the whole thing with a psychologist in an environment that's designed specifically for that purpose. Overall, it's a very interesting field of study with a lot of nuance so take everything with a grain of salt.
The way that I understand it. Myo-Reps is basically that you have your activation set followed by short rest intervals until you can't hit the given reps anymore. Could look like this: 20reps activation, 5 reps->rest->5reps->rest->5reps->rest->4reps->stop Myo-Match: 20reps activation with short rest intervals and doing as many sets as you need to hit the total number of activation reps. Example 20 reps activation -> 11reps -> 6reps -> 3reps -> done
great podcast as always ! quick quesiton : is CREATINE safe during ramadan ? ( we fast for 13-16h ( no food , no WATER ) , the part about water is the reason why im asking the questions . if u drink enough water during the eating window , its okay to take creatine ?
I'd assume it's easier to take it right before and just after, dry scooping creatine sounds painful at best. And even if you do miss a dose for 24 hours it's not gonna hurt your gains as long as you're consistent the rest of the time

I’m also quite interested in the IQ topic but I think my interest in my own number has slowly declined as I’ve gotten older. You both alluded to this point but I think that I’ve come to realize that IQ isn’t particularly valuable unless you actually leverage it. Flexing an IQ score just screams “look at me and how smart I am” rather than actually solving problems or making yours and/or others’ lives better.
A 100%! My brother in law is an ultra smart guy, ultra smart! but he has barely managed to get his bachelors after 10 years simply because there are many other things he's struggling with. - Pascal

I am sure Mike is very smart, but north of 160 is unreasonable. 1) practice effect is huge. You can increase the score by 20 points if you train it enough, but it doesnt make you smarter 2) the Raven is a very bad test for a general picture of intelligence. You would want to test math, verbal, spatial ability. Good Tests are the Stanford Binet or the Wais. Do the test under controlled supervision of a psychologist. Do it only once, dont study for it or look on the Internet for Problem solving strategies. Then it will give you a reasonable idea. I estimate Mike to be 140-150 Max.
Was anybody really promoting pure IIFYM? To hear it from Helms and Norton, it sounded more like lifters were asking permission to eat anything that wasn’t on the approved whitelist, even just having corn instead of rice or white potatoes instead of sweet.

I think i misinterpreted what you meant by not focusing on weak points. I would never suggest that a lifter spend all this time of energy trying to bring a list of that he doesn't have the leverage to ever make great. But within the list itself what is dance is held back by the triceps I think it's a good idea to work on those muscle groups. Where they should be without spending too much time he needs eliminate weak links in the chain. Because theift will only be as good as the weakest contributing muscle.
Really good talk on how to deal with weak points vs strong points. Never considered my chest a strong point but 3 sets of DB bench and 3 sets of flies has my chest sore for 3 days, very consistently. I guess this is really a benefit. But funnily enough my REAL strong points are my glutes. Lots of muscle, lots of fat distribution, and almost a feminine shape. I think how much women like a nice ass is underated in the bodybuilding community...
The only reason I have made it so far in the gym is because of this man,he literally has a wealth of knowledge that we're so lucky to have for free

The way that I understand it.

health is very hard to optimize because there are quite a few factors leading into health and does health mean quantity or quality of life

I'd assume that it'S definitely save. You can take creatine whenever you want to and furthermore, it has no dehydrating effects.
