I have issue with cracked dash, DVD player won't work, speakers rough and the cluster needs fixing. Speedometer won't work, only sometimes. I have the same colour and interior but needs a driver side seat leather replacement. Let me know if you see a driver side seat. Looking fwd for your videos

Great intro Z! My mostly stock 2003 GX470 has 260k miles. I’m the second owner after purchasing from Lexus dealer CPO coming off a lease with about 35k on the Odom. In my 13years of ownership I have never had any problems. One thing I wanted to add to your excellent commentary: the car has outstanding view for the driver with its big windows all around; stable and maneuvers on the freeway is excellent for an SUV. I’ve avoided a few spin outs in front of me.

I did the standard build, 2" lift, tires, rack etc. I've had it in all kinds of terrain and have never doubted it's capabilities once. Thus I see no need for a rear diff lock. The only thing that has kept me from buying one of these in the past is they require premium fuel, which now in 2024 in some places costs a full $1/gallon more than regular unleaded. I bought an '08 Volvo XC90 AWD V8 instead which only "recommends" premium but doesn't require it. I add a bottle of Lucas fuel treatment about ever 3 or 4 tanks of gas and it runs great, in addition to getting decent mileage @ ~17mpg city/23mpg highway. Inside it compares well in terms of capacity & leg room as well. I'd definitely look at the GX470 much harder if not for the fuel requirement.

I have a 1997 80 series and a 2006 GX, and they are very similar in many ways. Curb weight is almost identical, wheelbase is only 2" different (GX is longer), third row seats work exactly the same, and much more. I was shocked at how similar they were in overall layout when I got the GX. The GX seems very much like an updated and improved 80 series. However, the 80 series wins with the front axle instead of independent fronts (in my opinion).

Still no cracks, air bag delete in favor of bilstein suspension. Still not a si gle tear or stain In the Interior. She's my baby

Thumbs up to 0:15 lol more of that!! Just got that Dobinson IMS setup and thought I was already pushing it lol. How was the landing.

The landing was smooth. For a non bypass shock, the dobs are impressive. For what I'm doing they are a total bargain. Enjoy your truck

So, I'm also looking at the 3rd gen Montero Limited. The ABS goes out on those, but you can take out the fuse and be fine. Would that be the case on the GX as well?

I almost bought that exact car off of craigs list. Is that the one that had the odometer replaced and the mileage was off? There were a couple of odd things about it that turned me off. I love me 2004 GX470 though. And of course I loved the dog shot.

Yes I just corrected the mileage when I rebuilt the cluster.

That's not a 'high-mileage' LC Prado, it's a Prado that was driven just the right amount to not be mechanically neglected. I'd consider a car over twice that if it has maint records.
I'm learning a lot about these and it's great there's something even better than an FJ Cruiser or a 4Runner. Apart from gas consumption of course...

    It’s strange how many people have the gx470 and a Miata. I have a silver 08 NC GT and a 05 GX470
