Getting one of these vehicles in my price range means getting one with mileage in the high 100,000s or over 200,000 and any deferred maintenance that comes with that, plus gas costs that will be _at least_ 50% more than the other vehicles I am considering. I don't know about this.
Fantastic video brother, as soon as I get my stimulus I'm getting me one too I'll let you know thank you
Bro the dog was priceless laughed for 10 minutes 😂😂
Thanks for the flying dog clip...I haven't laughed that hard in years!
FWIW - ABS and transfer case issues are rare. DO OIL SERVICES - every 50k. Common issues: wheel bearings and CVs (front). SAIS system *will* die - and you do the starter same time as it sits under that bullsh*t. Yes, big service every 90k, but whatever. Rear sir suspension WILL die. You replace w/ coils (and helper bags if you tow) - no big deal. Everything else is bulletproof.
bought one two months ago. Love it
How many miles do you get on a full tank? Thanks
I hope you post more about the apple car play module for this car
dog flying thru the air....greatest thing I've seen on youtube!
You should look into the Phoenix automotive tesla style screen. I just upgraded my gx470 with that radio and I love it, I also have the navigation model too by the way and the climate controls work with this new screen.
how much did you pay for that upgrade ?
+1 for rear air option with dogs.
my dad just traded in his 2008 470 with 63k miles to a 2020 460. they gave him 14000 for it. driving wise, i think the 470 drives better. it's a bit more stable and stiff the suspension does not feel wobbly.
What dealership did it go to? Interested
Your father got ripped off. It should of been easily $20k with a low mileage of 63k
@@yubemful car was traded in before the pandemic.
@@dustyj22 Doesn't matter. I know what is worth before or after pandemic.
Get that brake booster fixed asap. When they go out you have massively reduced (aka: practically none) braking assist.
That cutaway to the jump and the slow motion dog flying in the air- fuck that was hilarious
Down shift when going down hills, too. Great review.
Did you get the Apple Car Play module work?
He states issues with the transfer case, transmission, water pump, & timing belt!? I think I'll pass.
These are not problems but required maintenance on the engine every 90,000 miles.
@@rrt08 I went through many these GXs for sale out there with car fax reports and I would say it’s really rare when I see a car fax report with a power train service history !!! Meaning you need to take a chance on how long the transmission or differential can hold / no timing belt replacement history ……
Question: Why is the video titled "mistake" when you have pretty good things to say about the vehicle
It is in reference to the financial mistake of buying a used luxury SUV.
@@ZentRose oh ok. I am selling my 80 series for something newer (with LATCH system for 2 car seats, and also hopefully not 10 MPG) and i'm considering a GX, so when i stumbled upon this video saying it was a mistake i was very curious. My only hang-up is removing the AHC for a lift (and trying to find a non-nav. model).
Nice! The fuel economy so far is better than my old 80 series. I am not sure on the AHC delete difficulty since mine was done at a shop.
@@ZentRose very cool. i'm watching a video now that actually shows it not being that difficult.
@@BigSh00tsie GX has air bags not hydraulic fluid so it's a much easier suspension upgrade compared to the LX470 which has the AHC. I just did my 99 LX470 - removed AHC and installed an Ironman 4x4 Foam Cell Pro. Incredible suspension set up.
It’s not a Car, it’s a truck on frame . The only way to sell it in the US market was under the Lexus brand.
I almost bought that exact car off of craigs list. Is that the one that had the odometer replaced and the mileage was off? There were a couple of odd things about it that turned me off. I love me 2004 GX470 though. And of course I loved the dog shot.
Yes I just corrected the mileage when I rebuilt the cluster.
Tell me more about the apple car play module.
I got the grom vline2. You can get it pretty reasonably if you get in on a group buy
That's not a 'high-mileage' LC Prado, it's a Prado that was driven just the right amount to not be mechanically neglected. I'd consider a car over twice that if it has maint records.
I'm learning a lot about these and it's great there's something even better than an FJ Cruiser or a 4Runner. Apart from gas consumption of course...
We must pay 30k USD for a GX470 made in 2005 in Vietnam in 2023. In VN we love Lexus!
Thumbs up to 0:15 lol more of that!! Just got that Dobinson IMS setup and thought I was already pushing it lol. How was the landing.
The landing was smooth. For a non bypass shock, the dobs are impressive. For what I'm doing they are a total bargain. Enjoy your truck
Can you share the meetup group you found that met in San Clemente? Are they still active? Thanks for the vid! Just bought a 2006 with 80k miles!
How much did you buy it for ??
Love the GX! What made you choose a GX over other vehicles? Is it your daily driver?
You forgot about the starter it’s involved to replace
Lol we are neighbors I’m just down the street from you near the Albertsons
where did you get the speakers from? could you please provide a link. Congrats on your new GX.
I got skar 8 ohm 6.5" speakers for the door and the mettra plug and play adpaters. It was just the front lower door speakers and the subwoofer that were blown in this car. I'll post a video soon
It’s strange how many people have the gx470 and a Miata. I have a silver 08 NC GT and a 05 GX470
Could you sleep in it if you want to right? Place a mattress
Does your car still have the stock engine? I still have the same model 2006 but only have 98k miles on it and was serviced by the dealer. Mark Levinson speakers on the front side doors are blown so I look forward to how you replaced them.
Apple car play module for the navigation unit??? 😮
Yes I got the Vline adapter thing and it had problems. I didn't make a video because I don't recommend it. It was a waste of $500
You live in orange county right? i delivered uber eats at your apartment complex a few months ago and saw your GX and also saw another one of your neighbors has one too with a similarly built up setup
Dope, I needed this vid. Thanks Brutha!
Lol that dog in the beginning!
Transmission problems? That’s no good.
Oh yeah ! Especially not even equipped with a dip stick ! The same year chevy , gmc and Cadillac truck are much reliable too.
Anything break after that jump lol and what exactly is the suspension setup?
Steering rack now destroyed nice job
@ZentRose can you update us on if you upgraded the head unit or if you installed Apple CarPlay and how it is and walk us through it, I’m getting a GX470 but want to know these details before.
I have a 100 series land cruiser with the built in NAV from toyota, can you post a video or reply to how the apple car play update worked out and what equipment you used for it. I am interested in updating mine. thanks!
Wow I bought mines for $9k with 94k miles.
You changed the Mark Levinson system? Why?
Can't wait to see what else you do to it. Definitely interested in vgrom stero modification.
Lol, "break down"? This car will probably outlast your grandchildren.
What kind of mic do you use? It is so good!
Zoom h4n with a cheap lapel from Amazon
Saw your dog fly. Liked!! 😆
Where did you find 8OHM speakers? I've heard anything different causes electrical issues.....
I found them on here: amzn.to/3FepLUM I used the mettra plug adapters too so it was plug and play
cheers!
Can you clarify the one touch start. I can’t hear your engine at all?! Is that just with yours? Or am I just confused 🤷♀️ I have to turn key all the way to start not click, click..
The dog 🐕 would've never gone out with you again
He loves going in the Lexus lol
Very nice Zent! congrats bro!
Appreciate it!
At 6:37 no way that's Chapman and cannon 😂😂😂
good eye
When do you call a vehicle a car, and when do you call it a truck??
