I have a similar situation, my now wife of 21 years was 4 months pregnant when we got together. when MY son was born it was the best day of my life. We grew and bonded as dad and son should BUT a month before his 19th birthday he was tragically taken from us in an automobile accident. The driver was under the influence of pills and alcohol. BUT HE WILL ALWAYS BE MY SON. I heard this song for the 1st time today and it's now my new favorite song. I just felt like I had to share my story. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS SONG. P.S. I ADOPTED HIM WHEN HE WAS 9 AND HE IS MY ONLY SON
Just saw the Spinney Brothers at Pickin' in Parsons, WV last month. They did this song there, and it brings me to tears every time I hear it. We have a similar situation in our family and my husband feels that same way about my son. And 36 years later, he still feels the same way. They are close as father and son should be. They love each other even if the blood isn't there. Thanks for this song.
