I’m a black man and a retired Navy Chief. You aren’t crazy! These people are NOT our brothers. I had full birds attempting to illegally kick me out for doing my job, something that if I stayed quiet, would’ve put me in Leavenworth. I had to report a CO for getting underway without a working fatho overseas. They sent me back to SD to kick me out. They used my need for foot surgery on both my feet to do it. Two months after my surgeries, they made me weigh in and I was overweight due to not moving for two months. They mistakenly cc’d me in an email between my last command leadership and the SD command. I tried legal and it was the Naval Academy connection that got together. I ended up filing a complaint with my congresswoman. Sent them all the documents, I literally received a call from Millington Naval Personnel Command Commander himself within two days, removing me from that command and retiring. I absolutely cannot stand the racist institution of DoD!

I love the Marine Corps as well. The Marine Corps showed a lot of favoritism to caucasians. Since I'm black the Marine Corps didn't treat us to well. I had to work 2 times harder to get promoted. I went and retired out of the Army. I can't lie I didn't get treated to well in the Army either because I served in the Marine Corps first so the hate for that in the Army high. My whole 20 years was just a bad experience. I stayed because that's all I knew, and 10 years went by fast, so I was like I might as well retire to get that pension.

i'm a Black man and formerly enlisted Army corporal. I follow you and watch your videos to remind me about my time in the Army. You tell the truth. I had trouble with my NCOs when I went on my first deployment. I had some serious negative thoughts, but I fought through. I ended up getting moved to a different unit in what I will describe as a blessing. My military career took off after that. I learned that being Black in the military can be just as bad as being a Black man in civilian life. You say the things so many of us cannot. Stay blessed brotha!

Health is wealth, which includes both physical and mental components. What many tend to gloss over is how serving in the military is highly stressful and even more so when external factors such as toxic environments, unsupportive and even vindictive leadership not to mention the personal tragedies that do occur. After serving 20 years of mostly providing behavioral healthcare services to active duty service members and their families, mental health was (and still is) misunderstood and not respected as much as it should be. We're trained and told to "be strong" or "suck it up", however that only works for a short period of time with consequences along the way. Thank you for your bravery to say "enough is enough, and I have to start making decisions which are best for Shane". I still work in behavioral health, leading a new program here in NC which includes focusing on addressing the mental health of the 21st century Veterans. The VA does have issues with access, we deal with this all the time. If I could recommend a program which would see you probably within 48 hours at no cost either virtually or in person, it's called The Cohen Clinic which is located in Fayetteville, NC. They have great therapists who I know care, are professional and most importantly ease the pain of those whom they serve. Please continue to use your voice.

Shane, as a father myself you sir are a strong mf. Seriously don’t worry about whatever people say, you sir are a strong human being. You’re right, shit you’re going through has nothing to do with the marine corps. And everyone wants to use your few “rants” as the ammunition to call you weak. James is cool but he is missing out completely, on what’s actually going on, but like him and everyone else we are seeing it as outsiders. Stay strong, stay valiant, and carry the good that was learned from the marine corps. People that have dealt with what you have wouldn’t have lasted like you have. I love you and your shit man seriously and I haven’t even met you, you’re THE ONLY influencer that made me want to join. Not James, not even Nava, You. Thank you for the gift you’ve given.

Brotha, those who have never been in the military will never know, they think that it's not a reflection of society. Black men and women are held to a different standard than white men and women. I was in the military for 26 years and have seen this personally, and anybody who says differently has never lived life as a Black man in the military. I've seen white Airmen get away with things that Black Airmen have been kicked out for, and it was happening until the day I retired. You're not crazy Brotha, you're spitting facts. I've worked with some amazing people from all races, but none of them will ever understand what I've seen and been through, cause it's not happening to them.

    • @fuse4967

As someone who never had to deal with these struggles as a white man, it was so easy for me to turn a blind eye to these issues, especially with the sweet talking grifters that perpetuate that "everything is fine" and "racism doesn't exist anymore". It's very much ingrained in all aspects of our society, not just the military. But once I started reading about it, my eyes were opened to the issues that black men and women face in this country, and its EVERYWHERE. Suddenly wherever I look, in subjects I had been following for years, its clear that the standard for black men/women is completely different from white people. I am sorry that so many of you have to deal with it and this country truly needs to pull up the racist roots and plant a new tree.

  • @29thizzle

Brother, let me first THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. I salute you and your endeavors.
Secondly, as an almost 29 year veteran (still serving) and an E1 that is currently an O5, I want to APOLOGIZE to you for your commands' failure. More should have been done to help you. The military is real good at tearing us down as individuals and building us up as servicemembers, but RARELY do they build us up as PEOPLE. We specifically need this AFTER service.
Thirdly, you are MORE THAN CORRECT about the VA. I suffer with anxiety, PSTD, GAD and probably other mental health illnesses along with my physical ones. I am currently 100% P&T with the VA (I'm a reservist, in case the readers are wondering) and I had to get non-VA mental health assistance before I could see the VA psychiatrist. It STILL takes me MONTHS to see the VA psychiatrist. You see what happened to the Army Guardsman in Maine? He needed mental health assistance, sought it out, and subsequently went on a shooting spree. Does it take that for us to get 'help'?
Brother, thank you for EVERYTHING you do, have done, and will do for us. Continue to get that help, brother. I didn't have a child pass away, but I had loved ones pass away before, during, and after my many deployments.
You're right- none of us could walk a minute in your shoes; that's why they're YOUR shoes. Maaaaan, you hit the NAIL ON THE HEAD with the psuedofoliculitis: I have a shaving waiver and had to fight for one of my airmen (who happens to also be black) to get his. People who don't get these ingrown hairs have absolutely NO IDEA what we go through. I get a needle and have to dig some of mine out of my face...
Bump ANY of these vloggers that talk bad about you. They hate on you because they ARE NOT you. Remember that people can fake happiness and never truly be happy. Continue to keep your head up, stay positive, and continue to get that help, my brother. Again, I humbly thank you for ALL of your sacrifices for us and our wonderful country that SOMETIMES don't show us the same love we show her....🪖🎖

I know I’m not gonna have the most popular opinion. But my time in the Marine Corps, I almost came to blows with my Corpel, sergeants, and my staff NCO. Not because I was a young kid and I wanted to do what I wanted to do. It’s because I refused to let anybody look at me as if I am nothing or that I am a stepping stool for them and I helped other marines while I was in a UDP to Australia my staff Sergeant whispered in my ear that I was a piece of shit that deserves to be in the brig and he said this because I did my job before he told me to do it so bro I understand exactly what you’re talking about. You are by no means crazy or weak I will just tell you that suicide is never the answer because number one I will never in my life give my enemies exactly what they want if they want me dead, they have to earn. And as a black man, never let them see you Be sad or angry, because they will use it. I respect your content. And honestly you need to continue doing it because you are saying the things that most junior enlisted are going through at this very moment, and are too afraid because they believe that their command is holding that power over them. I wish I had this when I was in the Marine Corps but I wish you the best and I hope all of your ambitions come true.

That's where you see a regular civilian but through the VA. But stay on top of it because all of the civilians don't know how to process Community Care Orders which will leave you with a bill. But you can take the bill to billing to get reimbursed.

Semper Fi Devil... stay strong and keep doing what you doing.. they call you corny.. "Bull$#!+" in YOUR VOICE!!! Let that settle in... you better patent your phrase .. unsubstantiated/inconclusive is due to civil liabilities. Just cause we serve doesn't mean you don't have any rights.... I'll put money on the investigators were Black or a minority. Everyone that know the dirt and can cause problems will get promoted... have to remove your credibility... been there... stay strong. Oorah!!

Bro, I feel you and I understand how it is, 16yrs multiple combat deployments and a medical retirement.(Army). I've experienced the same shit till I got to a good unit. I learned not to let anyone know what the did affect me. They would deny my leave, ok cool I'd find TDY orders. I'd always find a work around or volunteer for shit. Keep your head up Bro The big green machine will continue to do what it does all we have to do is figure out how to survive.

    Ay! Sempre Fi! brother...
As a white conservative republican, I 100 percent agree and understand what you said.
You are right, I don't know what you are going through, I will never know or understand what you are going through. The shit you went tgeough in the Corp, the loss of your friends and family members, the loss of your own daughter... i don't have kids, so i will never know the pain of losing a child...
But I do understand you are human, and you have pain, and the way you deal with that pain is comedy. So do what you do, keep putting out that content and make people laugh...
As for those out there trying to cooy you and take your content, fuck em... just change things up, keep it original, keep them on their toes... you know who you are and so do we... we don't give two shits about them big fat phoneys...
Anyway bro, stay up, stay safe and God bless...
    Long as WE trackin'

I say it with love and because I mean it. I live in Baltimore City. I work in the private EMS industry and the ER. I've met homeless vets. I'm an advocate for mental health. If it gets to be too much, dial 988( it's the emergency number) just to talk to someone or go to the nearest emergency room... Don't wait

I agree 100 percent. The behavioral health thing is real. I’ve dealt with my own attempts, witnessing, and going to multiple funerals of those who made that final choice. The cornball described is a typical veteran boomer whose whole schtick is “the new service member is soft” some of it is pretty mean spirited. Being a former medic it’s rough knowing soldiers are still dealing with the same shaving profile bs today. Anyways keep the content coming you’re hilarious.
