- Friendly tractor pull. This was practice for the drivers and also for the sled operators to make sure we had the correct gearing to give each tractor class a good workout. I hope you enjoy!

It's fun to watch the original stock tractors pulling. Those 2 cylinders, John Deeres sure had the torque. The 730 diesel had a displacement of 470 cubic inches (7.7L) with working RPM of 1125. Plus, being transverse mounted, they don't lose 15% of their power like all the inline machines. Plus, it keeps the gearbox simple.

Fun watching the old iron trying their best. The first D made it look easy.
Yes, that D is built for pulling. The engine is overhauled with custom high compression pistons that boost the compression ratio up from 3.9:1 up to about 6.5:1. You can see it has wheelie bars and a custom pulling hitch. It's very strong.

It was just for fun. Use your imagination. Besides, it works be meaningless to compare to other tractors on a different track because weight, transfer speed, and grind conditions vary so much.
