70 years old now, haven’t farmed since 1981. I would love to make a few rounds on a 1206 or 1256 open station IH with a fender AM radio blasting in my right ear. Those were the good old days! Turbo straight piped diesels! Fast cars and young girls on Saturday night.❤❤❤
I'm just a couple of years younger than you are, sir, but yes, without a doubt, those were the good old days. Just like you, I too sat on an open station tractor. An Allis Chalmers 190 XT. Probably had the same fender mount AM radio. I had headphones. Woohoo! Constantly changing the channel hoping to hear some Kiss or Led Zepplin, or Deep Purple, or Aerosmith, or Foghat or Van Halen, or whatever! Without push buttons changing the channel was pretty hard to do while navigating a tractor down the field! And without GPS and auto steer!.LOL! Worked like hell on Saturday's without stopping for lunch so dad would let me shut down a little early so I could get cleaned up and head to town in my fast car to see the pretty girls! 😍 And I broke the speed limit in two countries to get there fast! I still have my '69 Chevelle. 396. Cowl Induction. Weiand highrise intake with an 850 Holley setting on top. Milled and ported heads. A 227/241Thumpr Comp roller cam with hydraulic lifters. Headers, and four on the floor. Still even have an eight track and some tapes I pIay! How often do you see that anymore? I take it back to my hometown once every summer just to drive around and drag main like we did way back when. It's a small town, about 1700 people. I know the local cop, so whenever I get to town I have to light the tires up a few times and make some noise so he can hear me and know I'm in town. It's a little game we play. He then proceeds to find me and pulls me over. Always on main street. Then we do the hey, how ya been stuff and laugh about it. He writes me a warning ticket for exhibition driving and excessive noise every time just for a souvenir. I keep them all in an envelope in the glove box. I'm sure my grandson will get a kick out of them someday when it's his car. All the local kids that are driving around in their little rice burners think I'm an old badass because I got pulled over for squealing my tires with a loud old car that sounds like it idles rough. If I'm parked somewhere, some of them will stop to talk cuz they want to know about the car. These kids know absolutely nothing about the old big blocks. And the 8 Track really blows their mind! Lol! A couple have wondered how it would stack up against some of their little rice grinders. But that's part of the deal with the cop and our little game. He has made me promise to not ever race with any of the kids, or the game will.be over. No more joking around and warning tickets. I would give anything to go back to those days and sit on that 190 XT with headphones on listening to AM channels. Those definitely were the best of times.
I will always love the oldschool tractors. Pre DEF , Pre total electronics. I like to be an extension of the machine.... Not an extension of a computer.
I drove the international 1566 right after i graduated high school. I loved that old tractor and spent aeny hours in the field listening to the sound of the turbo singing its lullaby. I wish i could do it all over again. That was in 1987.
Having grown up in a Red Tractor family, an H, an M, and a C, a 560, a couple 806’s, a 1206 and a 1456, I’m always anxious to see all the red I can find; ideally the 8, 12, and the 14 which I enjoyed discing all day on. I will say this JD discing in the video, sure made a nice pass thru the field.
Ford 7700, one of the best tractors ever to hotrod. Capable of insane horsepower for the size of the engine and with the load monitor hydraulics a powerhouse on the drawbar too. Had one growing up on a dairy farm, my favourite!
Great video. I also am close to 70 years old and remember these tractors. The old Case 930 Western had such a great sound to it. Loved that unit. Keep it up bringing these videos.
I farmed for 8 years in the late 70s and early 80s with a Ford 8000 open station. It had an M&W turbo and straight pipe. Loved the sound of the 6 cylinder engine. Was fun to run at night because when it pulled hard, a red toung of fire would come out the exhaust pipe.
First time I've ever seen a 4-post 4650, and I used to see a lot of green and red tractors here in the south with that setup. My uncle's 4-post 5288 was my favorite tractor to run when I was helping out on the farm.
I like ROPS tractors. A 4 post 5288 is cool. I grew up by a farm that had two 4 post 1486s tractors. My local Case IH dealer had a 4 post 1586 on the lot last year. I most modern 4 post I have seen is a 4 post 4960. This 4650 belongs to a friend of mine. They are neat variations.
@@bigtractorpower Do a google search, and you'll find some pics and tales of Case-IH Steiger 9110/9210/9310s with ROPS that were used down in sugar cane country!
I have never seen and didn't know that Deutz made a tractor sold as a Coop. That must be a rare bird. Love to see a 1270 Case someday. Spent many an hour using one. Wish we never sold it.
I was thinking the same thing. I grew up in Europe where the Deutz 06 series was very popular. Actualy, so popular that they keep it on the market for was too long and lost market share and never really recovered.
In case I don't get another chance before Christmas day- Merry Christmas BTP and family! This was a cool video and there was nothing but really cool and classic old equipment.👍👍👍

I like the 8050, that’s a sharp looking 1206. I’ve seen where half century of progress is trying to get 300 1206s for 2025, does anyone know if that’s true?
That CO-OP bears a striking resemblance to the lime green Deutz tractors made back in the 1970s.Did not know that the CO-OP name was still out there 50 years ago
Favorite of this video is the 1566. I'd like to see a 1456 on the channel that is still being farmed with. That's because I own one and still farm with it.
The 1456 is top of my IH filmimg wish list. I have been looking for one to film. Great tractor. Would it be possible to film yours at work? My email is bigtractorpowermedia@gmail.com
Very interesting! The number two tractor was listed as a CO-OP? But nothing was mentioned who made this tractor? It looks European? In 1946 a Canadian company called Cockshutt started their own line and continued until 1961. Some of these Cockshutt's that were shipped to the United States were picked up by Cooperatives, and when you bought from a Cooperative they also called it a CO-OP. If you have some information about the Cockshutt line, I'd really enjoy seeing it. I personally have four tractors, two Cockshutt 30s, one Cockshutt 40, and one Cockshutt 570. Skip Ruckert, Western PA
That John Deere with the frame type Sound Gard must be a pretty rare find. Cool and powerful looking machine regardless. The Ford 7700 with what looks like a Hiniker cab (?) must also be pretty rare, since I was of the impression that Ford fitted their own 'bubble cab' to pretty much every tractor in their range ? Here in the UK, a Midlands based firm, GKN Sankey manufactured Fords 'bubble cabs' - was wondering who manufactured them for Ford in the US ? The Co op tractor looks like a badge engineered Duetz, going by that bonnet style and the air cooled engine ?
The Maxxum series is high on my wish list to film. I very much would like to feature a David Brown. I like CASE/DB tractors allot like the 1410 and 1490.

@ I am a tractor fan. I like to hear from other yrs for fans to hear what they are interested in. Hopefully a Maxxum and David Brown turn up in 2025. David Brown is a big part of Case history.
The open station 4650 is something I haven't seen, a few open station 4630's came to Western Australia but the vast majority of them had sound guard cabs and all the 40 and 50 series had cabs.
The best one i have ever seen is still working in Illinois not a better one around let me know if you would like to see this 2 180 at work i can contact owner
Yes it is. There were 68 CO-OP dealers in the 70’s across Canada. They sold Deutz, Steiger and Volvo tractors in CO-OP orange. They also sold Volvo combines. Seeing a CO-OP in the U.S. is rare.
It does not because I do not find them often to film. I would like to find them. CASE is a favorite brand to me. The first farm machine I ever got to ride in was a CASE 1060. The first tractor ride I ever took was in a CASE 2470 running a 7 bottom CASE 700 plow. The CASE 1570 and 2590 are high on my filming wish list. Stay tuned for the top 10 Classic 4wd tractor finds of 2024. It will feature a CASE 1200 and a CASE International 4494.
I didnt like the way the allis operator came to a stop twice on the turn. Cycling the clutch each time at full rpm, with a fair load on the drive each time. The turn could be easily coordinated without stopping. Defenately some good turns from other drivers here.
The reason the tractor stops is abuse of the lag on the planter hydraulics. It takes time for the planter to raise and lower. This is very common for 1980’s planters. The lift and lower delay makes the turn awkward. We are so used to big hydraulics today planter turns are seamless but 40 years they were slow and stiff.
@@bigtractorpowerfair point. I'd still try throttle down or drop a gear to turn..but I guess it's working for him.. great tractor variety in the video anyways. And looks hes like planting corn, so maybe he doesn't want cross planting in the ends. I never farmed corn but with grain I would just double plant for however long it takes the drill to lift.
@ the 8050 is planting soybeans on 15 inch rows. They try not to over lap on the headlands. In wheat and grains it would just boost the yield with some over lap in a spot or two. In soybeans they want to force it out. Here is a full 10 minute video on the 8050 planting. It was a good opportunity to show how soybean planting looked 40 years ago.
