26:41 I appreciate you actually showing the auto stop off feature. Every other channel complains about it... and does not like it. Nobody seems to like it. You were the first one to show what it actually does. Granted I am not a big fan. You take your foot off the brake and the car starts but you didn't complain you showed it. Kudos to you. An honest review.
Blue gets the red finish on the dash too. and it looks great since all the out side rubicon decals and little jeeps on the rims are red too. plus the red stitching.
One item I forgot to critique was the lack of a dead pedal. While driving the Jeep I had wanted to push a dead pedal in order to scoot back in the seat a few inches. Without the dead pedal to push against, I was forced to use my elbow and push down not the center console to push myself back. It's a small issue, but something worth noting.
Carlos Guerrero no. Metal bumper group has a tab on top of the bumper that comes out to install a winch. It would also have bolts where you can remove the outer thirds of the bumper to fit larger tires.
I have watched a lot of RUclips car reviews but this is the first time I have watched this channel, but not the last! Here’s what I liked: 1) the conversational style of presentation, you talked intelligently but in a way that wasn’t overly technical. 2) the pace of the video wasn’t too fast or slow, but just right for me 3) good detail about the vehicle, as well as your personal information about similar vehicles etc. In short, thanks for an interesting, informative video and not rattling off the spec sheet auctioneer style! The bad part is I can’t stop wanting a JL, and I’m not an off road guy. Do you find that you miss owning a Jeeep? What made you get the 4 Runner versus a Wrangler?
Thank you for the positive feedback Ghostrider! I'm glad you found the video to be helpful! My videos tend to be a bit longer than your normal review, but I try to be as detailed as possible. I purchased the 4Runner after the Wrangler so I could retain the body on frame (BOF) construction, while also having an increased towing capacity of 5,000 LBS versus the 3,500 LBS I had in my JKU. Additionally, I'm kind of a stickler with resale value and the 4Runner and Wrangler track very close to each other. I truly love the 4Runner and will likely own it for quite some time. I made an update video on it just a few days ago and you may be interested in watching it. Between the two, the main thing I miss is the open air experience that came with the Wrangler. While I can drop the rear window, sunroof and other windows in the 4Runner, it's not quite the same as having the entire top off and driving down some back roads. If they weren't similar in so many ways, I would be looking at a 2 DR Rubicon to add to our stable. Thanks again, Apex
Cool, yours is the first review I've seen that bothers to mention/show off the cargo carrying system behind the front seats, MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) pronounced like the name, Molly. There's about a bazilllion MOLLE-compatible pouches, bags, and equipment holsters available on the open-market that can use those straps.
Simon, the red accent is removed if you purchase a Rubicon painted in either Mojito!, HellaYella or Punk'n. This can also be confirmed by building one on the Jeep website. Thanks for watching!
31:15 nav group could be done through Apple play or Android play. Not sure why it would be better to have in-dash nav for that much money. An extra Bose speaker in back. I like your reviews not sure about if the stereo was worth that much.
Interesting that my JLU Rubi's BFG KO2s tires are not white letter raised. I like it better w/o just a bit. You did your homework on this vehicle - good video.
ordering one next month, same color, fully loaded minus leather. How did you like the quality of the fabric? The only competitor to this is the 4Runner, but that's larger, slower, and more sloppy in handling. Can't really touch this new JL. Worth noting the headliner is supposed to help with ride noise, it should help a little, similar to soft pads in a recording studio.
do you know if they have fixed the electrical problems on the jl i was watching a review when the rubicon shorted out and it had to be towed back others have had the same problem
Haha, while I like both, they're all too similar to own at the same time. The 2018 4Runner is my personal vehicle and the JL Wrangler was provided to me for review. Thank you for watching!
Great video, would love a Rubicon but I just don't do Off-road that much... Decisions, I'm about to get the Sahara, my dealer has a 47k Sahara but with 3k down to 44k... The only thing it doesn't come with is the heated package... I will be travelling a lot to the mountains of NC and TN during cold weather and Canada, how much y'all use heated stuff? (people from cold weather) I don't want to lose this opportunity, and I don't want to wait 8 weeks if I order one
Gloves are usually enough to solve the cold steering wheel problem. Seat warmers are really comfortable, but cold seats are usually not that big of a deal. It’s one of those “you won’t miss em if you never had them” type of a thing.
I couldn't live with that bright red dash. First job would be to replace it with a darker color from another color code. I have no idea how you guys can say that's ok.
The dash color has nothing to do with the exterior color the black interior (cloth or leather) has the red accents and the heritage tan has the silver accents
Galaxy Wonders5 + I sold the G8 about 2 years ago and purchased a 2016 Dodge Charger Scat Pack as a replacement. The G8 was a weekend vehicle and the Scat Pack filled the gap. My current daily driver is a 2018 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road Prem. I do miss the G8 every once in a while since it was a phenomenal car. Also, the resale value was great! I sold it for the same price I had paid for it 4 years prior. -Apex
Muhannad, I actually own a 5th Gen 4Runner and have owned a JK, and driven a few JLs. While the Wranglers drive pretty good given the solid axles, the 4Runner ultimately has better road manners. You can still get a locking rear on the TRD variants, but you will forego the locking front axle as it has independent front suspension. I'd stop in to both dealers and give each of them a go to see which you prefer.
Hey Anthony, thanks for watching. While I truly enjoyed my time with our 10A Rubicon, I ended up going a bit too far on the build and it became too much of a "toy" to be a daily driver. I did consider the JL, but they were hard to find at the time I was buying, and in some cases, dealers were charging above MSRP for a Rubicon. We took the 4Runner for a spin, and for us, it struck a better balance between off-road capability and day-to-day livability. It retained the body on frame drive that I enjoy, a locking rear diff, and a rather "simple" drive train configuration. Also, we needed a bit more towing capability, and the 5,000lb limit helped make the decision for us. I've driven 30k miles on our 18' TRD Off-Road and I truly love the vehicle, and don't expect to sell it anytime soon. I also think I'd break our dog's heart since he loves having his own window back there! With all this being said, I still have a desire for a 2 Door Rubicon with a 6MT. I'm sure once the used prices come down over the next few years I'll look at adding one to our garage. They truly are well built vehicles, and I know they fit the needs for many people. In our case, we simply needed to bring it down a couple notches on the off-road department, but still be a reliable and fun form of transportation. If you'd like to see what the 4Runner looks like today, please see the following link for my latest update video. ruclips.net/video/NNQdTf28c-Y/видео.html Thank you, Apex Reviews
Global Flyer777 - I owned a 2013 Rubicon (JK) and I never had a leak during my ownership. If you put the top on correctly, I don't believe you'll have any issues. Unfortunately the blue does come with the red accents. They Should have called it "superman" edition. I ordered tan seats solely because the red on blue looks awful. The only red I will have on my jeep is the tow hooks, the jeep badge on the side, the trail rated badge and the outline of rubicon on the hood. Looks like they got rid of one of the rear tow hooks, I'm not pleased about that. Also looks like you can't shorten the front metal bumper, like you could with the JKU Rubicon, so I'm not pleased about that either. Never liked tires with white letters, just something to get rubbed off on curbs. Don't like hat gap between the front fenders and the bumper, it's like an air scoop which is bad for mileage. Door hooks? Did you mean tow hooks? But my statement was that there are not a total of 4 tow hooks now, 2 in the front and 2 in the rear. Now there is only one in the rear. And clearly the front metal bumper in this video, the ends can't be removed. Unless it's a cosmetic plastic outer shell that covers the whole thing, hiding all the bolts.
I find the auto stop start function pointless and useless and embarrassing. Just imagine this: stop at a drive thru window and it stops then starts as you leave. Lady at window thinks your Jeep is failing lmaoooo hate it man but love my Jeep JL! Despite it
Shaky video. Hard to watch. Nice JEEP. Not worth the price. Why can’t Jeep build a fully capable ride without needing mods. I fully understand that there are many OEM or after market products and it’s lots fun and work. Just a thought.
Another Review on a Rubicon.... The Standard review... No one wants to pay $53,000.00 on these. Why not review the cost and the crooked ways they separate packages to force you to upgrade to the highest package. The only thing you don’t add is the 30 dollar “Smokers Group” which is also a joke.... 2,000 extra for an automatic? Lol PASS!!!
4 doors are absolutely ridiculous on a Wrangler. Just goofy, awkward, gay and scream soccer mom mobile. Definitely not worthy of the Jeep Wave! I'm a minimalist. Most men are or at least were. I never thought in a million years you would see guys needing all this extra room like women cramming all sorts of shit in their rigs. Wranglers were never meant to be luxury 4 door vehicles. They're utilitarian. The only true Jeeps are 2 door Wranglers. The rest, how they get the Jeep badge is incomprehensible.

Haha! I never noticed that’s why I felt like I was digging into the padding there.
Did this one have the metal bumpers?
Carlos Guerrero no. Metal bumper group has a tab on top of the bumper that comes out to install a winch. It would also have bolts where you can remove the outer thirds of the bumper to fit larger tires.
So the Rubicon doesn't come stock with the metal bumper anymore?
White outline letters on the tires is an option, a free option but still an option and the box needs to be checked when it is ordered.
Good to know because I prefer my tires all black.
Thanks for the pointer FUHL! I wasn't aware that was a standalone option!

do you like the 4Runner or JL better? for daily driver and off-road life style
Rubi comes with red accents regardless of what exterior color you choose.
Simon, the red accent is removed if you purchase a Rubicon painted in either Mojito!, HellaYella or Punk'n. This can also be confirmed by building one on the Jeep website. Thanks for watching!
correct, ive seen it go ALL BLACK when you get color or tan seats.
Oh word
Hopefully your next JL is Hella Yella. Not a fan of yellow vehicles but it looks great on a Jeep!
Mojito is not being offered next year
God that anvil grey looks so good
Jeep calls that color "Sting Gray". I believe the Anvil color in the JK's had a little blue tint to it. But I agree, it does look really good.
Good job man ! Really good review
Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe it’s a sports bar not a roll bar you will still crush if you rollover!!!

That's funny in Saudi Arabia , the new 2018 Rubicon came in with dark silver dash and people over here got pissed off because they wanted the red one
Well, of course if others like it they can enjoy it. I can only give you my opinion.
The dash color has nothing to do with the exterior color the black interior (cloth or leather) has the red accents and the heritage tan has the silver accents

Please explain why you don't talk about the recall for over 18,000 2018 and 2019 Jeep Wranglers that have failing welds causing a critical suspension mounting bracket to detach?
Bruce, the video was published on August 26th and the recall was issued on October 5th. At the time this was filmed, the issue wasn't known to the public.
The recall only affected a minimum number of Jeeps. Manufactured from July and August.
What about the leaks along the drip rails??? They fix that too or was it just the double sided FCA tape they applied in the corners of the door jams??
Bruce, at least you tried.
Which one do you prefer four-cylinder or six
Arthur, I preferred the power of the turbo 4. It offered a good level of low end torque compared to the V6. Just to note, the engine didn't sound quite as refined as the 3.6 Pentastar, which resulted in increased NVH levels in the cabin during hard acceleration.

Tell me about it... no1 smokes anymore!!! Why don't they have a Vaper's group???
At the end of the day its still a fiat
4 doors are absolutely ridiculous on a Wrangler. Just goofy, awkward, gay and scream soccer mom mobile. Definitely not worthy of the Jeep Wave! I'm a minimalist. Most men are or at least were. I never thought in a million years you would see guys needing all this extra room like women cramming all sorts of shit in their rigs. Wranglers were never meant to be luxury 4 door vehicles. They're utilitarian. The only true Jeeps are 2 door Wranglers. The rest, how they get the Jeep badge is incomprehensible.
