Skar King really surprised me with how good of a villain he was. He’s literally more evil than Ghidorah, like Ghidorah wanted to just use the other titans to destroy the world, and that’s pretty much it. Skar King however enslaves other monsters, leaving the other apes malnourished, and abuses Shimo into doing his bidding. His intro was awesome since it established all of this in one scene with NO DIALOGUE. So well done
Ghidorah was a million times stronger than Scar King ever was but I agree technically Scar King was more evil because he abuses his army and shimo yet Ghidorah just awakened them
Gunna have to disagree with you on this one chief. Getting your slaves to destroy the very planet they live on, knowing that it’ll kill them too, is far worse.
@Mushroom_Man But did ghidorah enslaved, torture and abuse the other titans to the point of starvation and sadness? Did ghidorah try make a laughing stock out of his opponent before killing them? Did ghidorah give a sadistic smile when watching someone suffer through their wrath and power? Did ghidorah litterely kill a slave over protecting a small child? Did he intentionally enslaved the mother of all titans and potentially the strongest titans through pain to get what he wants? No, so how the hell is ghidorah more evil? He may be stronger than skar King, but he isnt any where near as cruel and brutal.
My favourite classic kaiju from the monsterverse has to be rodan since they took what was an ultimately silly looking kaiju and turned it into something that feels genuinely threatening. (Also he has the best soundtrack in the monsterverse as a whole)
Skar King, I’m gonna say is probably the most vile villain in the Monsterverse, he has done something that Ghidorah wouldn’t even do. It’s a p sensitive topic but it’s based on the scene with him in the throne room receiving a message from one the apes about the portals and the Iwi’s plan. He throws his food to a wall and we pan, following the jettisoned food we pan over to a group of female apes holding their children who have orange fur, cowering and crying by his presence. Why are those females and orange furred babies in the throne room with him? I, think and this is just me but, I think, he might’ve forced himself upon these apes and they’ve been stuck in his throne room since. Suko is most likely a son of his since he has orange fur as well, that’s p obvious. Now, I know it’s unconfirmed and yes, uncomfortable, I’m very sorry but that’s just my assumption of that scene and why he’s like EVIL evil.
His initial introduction was cool. He had a lot of personality and seemed intimidating. Then he got his ass kicked by Kong and continuously did nothing but use shim to do the actual fighting. Skar king was the most disappointing villain. He’s the perfect example of how to make your villain a complete pushover with no backstory or reasoning behind his motives. He genuinely sucked ass.
@@PooPoo-b2u he’s like Big Jack Horner in my eyes, doesn’t need a motivation, he just wants to be evil and he’s genuinely fun to watch like Jack. Both have an entertaining personality that don’t rlly need a complex motivation to drive them forward to do their evil acts. But that’s just my opinion tho
If you really think about it, he's the first actually evil villain. The rest were just being animalistic. The Muto's were only breeding to keep their species alive. The Skullcrawlers were only hunting because they're hypercarnivores, Gidorah was only fighting to become the alpha of the titans, and Mechagodzilla probably had the same goal as Gidorah.
dude literally got excited at the sight of humans running in complete fear lol his ultimate goal was just inflicting fear and pain on every single being that isn’t him
I feel like if legendary just committed to primal TV show style of movie with no humans focused purely on the monsters, with the story conveyed through their expressions, actions and personalities it would be great. They already have shown themselves to be masters at giving kaiju emotion and expression, so I feel a movie like that would be a masterpiece
What got me gasping was when we saw the three decapitated ape heads on the sticks. That was disturbing and definitely added to the menacing factor of Scar King's introduction.
THIS!!! This scene right here is how you do monsters with personality! Skar King, to me, is reminiscent of the Showa Gigan. Dude is not a threat in the slightest, but he sure as hell acts like one. He props himself up thinking he's king sh*t, but he has to rely on someone else to do all of the heavy lifting. And as soon as that someone else is disposed of, he breaks. I love it. He's my second favorite villain of the Monsterverse behind Ghidorah.
I enjoyed Skar King a lot more than I thought I would. He was the only Monsterverse villain so far that I actively wanted to see bodied by Kong and Godzilla, whereas in most Monsterverse movies I tend to lean on the sides of the villains. Overall, I personally prefer the pure presence and twisted majesty of Ghidorah, however I can definitely see the appeal of Skar King as a villain.
I was pleasantly surprised by The Skar King in the movie. I remember when the teaser trailer dropped I was sure he was about to be a steamy glass of dumpster juice, but now I think he might actually be my favorite MV villain to date. He's a sick, twisted, vile, cold-hearted mf and not a single word had to be spoken to get that point across. He is legitimately creepy, which is something I can't say about any of the other MV villains. His eyes are freaky, his postures and mannerisms are seriously unsettling at times, and that crooked, disgusting smile is borderline nightmare fuel. He actually comes off like someone who has lost their shit and gone insane.
It's funny cause he agreed to Suko's caretaker to not hurt him. But as soon as this mf looked at Kong, he knew he wanted to rile him up, so decided to hurt the caretaker instead. He's such a jerk and I love Skar King He's just laughing and smiling and I love him
I can’t stop praising how GOOD this is. This entire scene was conveyed purely with animalistic sounds, body language, and context with the characters. We already understand Kong and how he thinks, so it allows us to focus on processing what he’s seeing, which is an entire army of apes being abused, tortured, and murdered. Skar King is shown to be absolutely ruthless and egotistical, relishing in his own power and dominance, ESPECIALLY in how he controls one of the Monsterverse’s strongest titans. Not only that, but he is VERY expressive on top of everything else. His first shot shows him with the blank stare, but once he gets close to Kong, he shows his wit by noticing the metal tooth, then proceeds to body-shame him for it like a jackass. Not only that, but once it’s time to send out Shimo, he gains this INCREDIBLY smug look on his face, knowing he’s already won the fight. This is simply the trump card he will always use on his opponent. Skar King’s introduction was simply fantastic, and, while Ghidorah remains the deadliest, Skar King has proven himself to be the SCARIEST in the Monsterverse.
For me aside from the entertaining bonkers of fight scenes, Kong's story and Scar King certainly carried it! Especially how the apes converse, there's no subtitles but you can get the idea about it from their gestures and expressions, amazingly done.
I am so happy a new empire wasnt bad, i was very worried everything would just seem bad after minus one but then i saw suko be used as a bat and godzilla do the funny 0g kick and i was pleased
Scar king being a fraud king is what makes him my favorite Monsterverse villain yet, I still love Ghidorah, and consider him a way bigger threat, but there was so much I loved about Scar king. Just like I mentioned, he was a false king, ruling by fear. If it weren't for Shimo, he would have gotten his ass beaten by Kong, his whole aspect of a fraud villain, who rules others by fear with a stolen power to back him up is unique for the Monsterverse, and I love it He was ruthless af, he was a bastard through and through, and the way he was introduced was menacing and gave me quite a chill, and I love how his treatment of poor Shimo sealed his fate, he asked for it. Also, his personality is just amazing, genuinely taking great joy of torturing the apes and Shimo, laughing at Kongs new tooth, and then getting the same treatment was just a chefs kiss All in all, I really enjoyed him as a Monsterverse kaiju villain, he is not perfect by any means, but he is good enough for me. Shame he got the one off movie treatment, because I don't think someone could come back after getting shattered into pieces, all though a prequel movie of a titan war would be a great way to bring him back, maybe by making him a far more youthful, agile, able to actually fight with Goji.
Seriously he was amazing. He uses a WHIP and has SLAVES! like bro is there gonna be any monsterverse villain to be a cruel manipulative leader who enslaves his own species for supplies?! I dont know but he's definitely gonna stay up there no matter what as one of the top MV villains.
Suko is actually Skar Kings' son, which is validated in the scene where his worker returns to tell of the temple area Kong returned to. Skar king throws his food against the wall where many female apes are shown in the background holding babies that are the same color as "mini kong".
skar king was such a cool villain and is so misunderstood, his power comes from his cunning and intelligence plus looked super cool, severely underrated
@@KingAshtray he was able to find a way to control shimo and use to his advantage, he developed and led a cult like group of apes, he crafted a weapon in the whip, and although not being incredibly powerful himself was able to remain king of the apes through fear. he also fought godzilla and lived instead having to be trapped in hollow earth. not the strongest on his own but i think he’s underrated and a really cool villain for being an original creation
@@swaggaming2539 he's clearly a resourceful villain who has good combat skill but they didn't do a good job showing his intelligence despite being a conqueror
@@KingAshtray yeah agreed not super fleshed out but and i wish they would’ve shown more but the accomplishments themselves are shown and a titan who was able to find a way to control shimo one of the most powerful titans is in my opinion the most intelligence we’ve seen from a titan in the series but i wish they would’ve had him more so preparing to battle godzilla again as opposed to being content in hollow earth and being suprised by godzillas arrival would’ve been much cooler and he would’ve put up more of a fight and actually had a plan to win
@@swaggaming2539 I just wished he showed us some tactics or strategies. Someone said he had shimo so he became cocky and that's why he didn't do any tactics or strategies
SPOILERS In the scene where one of skars henchmen comes to his throne room to tell him were the source of the portals are. He throws a piece of food near the wall were "i can kinda assume" are all his mates holding his childeren they all have orange fur to put it simply he has sex slaves....
Gorillas do the same thing. There is no concept of sex slaves in the animal kingdom. The alpha male will procreate with all the females to pass on the strongest genes
Implied is the key word y’all just took this sorry ass villain and trying to build him up at the end of the day he was the weakest villain in this entire series we don’t know what skar king had going we assume he’s this big bad guy but what happened he got punished what if it was Godzilla who stumbled into his kingdom he would be dead in seconds
@@Commander_Ender 🤣🤣 how was he so evil he kicked one monkey and y’all acting like this man was the joker he wasn’t on the surface just murdering people for the fun of it how evil would he have been if it was Godzilla that wondered into his lair instead of Kong how long the movie would have been 🤣🤣🤣
One thing that really intrigues me about the Skar King is how old he is, and yet he acts like he is still in his prime. Which for a titan to be that old, but still have such high agility is astonishing, and I just like how he has personality like Kong but you can clearly tell he is the polar opposite
Scar King is RUTHLESS, he is a TYRANT, DESPICTABLE, an ENSLAVER, UNDISPUTED, THE CONQUER. He is a menace, especially when I thought Suko is Scar King's son, but instead he is just another breed to one of Scar King's slaves. The more they focus on Scar King, the more we see how he needs to be stopped and killed. Hopefully we do get to see more of him in the future, if possible because of spin offs or more lore in comics, but he is one thing and manage to accomplish something. He is a VIllian. edit: also he is considered very old for how long it goes back to being banish, who knows what he was like in his prime. He captured Shimo...
@@billtimothyimmanuelsiraitg4166He was loyal to scar king until scar king killed his mom/dad people say it’s the mother that scar king killed because he had a lot of female apes by his throne and the color represents more scar king then the other apes, the other apes are the same color as kong. I thought it was his dad at first
@@billtimothyimmanuelsiraitg4166 because Skar king is abusive to suko 🤦🏾♂️ doesn't change the fact that suko & Skar Are indeed related, Skar is using fear to control the other Apes.
Something noteworthy is that they managed to convey all of this withouth dialogue, theres not even any humans to spout out exposition to let us know whats happening, you just get all the information you need by their actions and body language, its so good to the point that it made me question if humans are even necessary in these films, since the monsters can carry all the emotional weight of the film on their own.
I give GxK a 7/10. Not gonna lie really would’ve liked to see a bit more from scar king. He was all hyped up to be complete badass and he definitely had his moments but I think they shoulda gave him more fight scenes. Would’ve liked to see him kill another titan and fight Godzilla. Thought the final battle should’ve been a lot longer as well.
After his introduction, he was kind of a generic villain afterwards. He wasn’t that big of a threat as he was only a threat to kong for 1 day. And he relied to much in Shimo. I wish they made him imprison kong and tortured him to really show how evil he is and to explore more into his tyranny
Goji Center and other monster verse channels : trying their hardest to make the most complicated theory to how the old heisei era monsters might come back in the next movie such as destroyah, Bagan, biollante and hedorah Legendary in the next Godzilla movie : “hey so uhhh I found this orangutan in the trash can…”
Can't believe you missed the most notable part of the Scar King's actual intro. We all know about the once cool super hero introduction that's now just plain over played. Hero enters the arena from a 50 foot jump, lands with one knee planted, head down, then looks into camera. Audience goes ' woooo'. Boring nowadays so much so that it's even been noted in certain super hero movies (Black Widow springs to mind). No I mean SK's ACTUAL entrance. It's one of the best, if not THE BEST villain entrances i've evrer seen. It's just the way he slowly walks out of his cave then bounds forward and stands up , arms swinging. But the stance is human like in nature like he's saying 'Yeah What... What' with a serious atitude. I can't even begin to do it justice in words. He took an hour to show up and I went from having a pretty remote interest in the film to an 'Am I the only one that just saw that, I'm fully invested in this film from now on' interest. And he doesn't disappoint.
Skar was kinda a nothing-burger for me tbh what really captivated was the main monsters dynamics (mainly seeing Kong's progress and Godzilla's power-ups)
skar kings cruelty is exactly how I want Destoroyah to be like in the monsterverse And I think the best part of Skar King is that he isn’t shown a origin story of how he became evil, like Ghidorah came from another planet and the Mutos and Skullcrawlers were basically predators and Mechagodzilla was a machine to wipe out every Titan while Skar King isn’t shown any origin how he became evil I swear if you combine Ghidorah and Skar King together you can literally get Destoroyah (destructive and as powerful as Ghidorah but as evil as Skar King)
SPOILER WARNING! They should have saved Skar King and Tiamat for future movies. (Leave them alive in this film.) Skar King is my favourite Monsterverse villain. Him and King Kong are a great match. I wish future movies would explore the origins of that 'Mega Godzilla skeleton' in GVK (the scene where Kong grabs his newly acquired axe) and that COLLOSSAL skeleton-like bridge. Perhaps they all were at war. (That serpent-like creature would make that mega Godzilla look like a toy. I am wondering if maybe like 2 dozen or so of mega Godzillas needed to fight him/her at once.) Just a theory. I haven't heard any mentions of them in the novels so far. (Don't know about the newer novelization.) P.S have my subscription!
I'm pretty sure Sukko is Scar Kings child and the Ape that SK kicked into lava was like his handler or his nanny. The movie doesn't need to do into depth but baised on hiw Sukko acts so scared around SK and the fact SK uses a whip...yea you can imagine the kind of dad he is...
3:38 I don’t think that giant ape was Suko’s (Mini Kong) father Later in the movie, an ape tells Skar King about the portals to the Earth surface it found, and inside Skar King’s lair there are a bunch of female apes taking care of their young These baby apes have an orange fur, just as Skar King’s And if you pay attention, throught the movie there’s no sign of any juvenile giant apes besides the ones on Skar King’s lair and Suko I think it’s safe to assume that Skar King took advantage of his power and became the dominant male, who has the “right” to procreate with all the females in the pack
Honestly, I see KotM as the weakest entry of the MonsterVerse. But hey, we all have different tastes, values, and opinions. GvK was my favorite before GXK came out.
I think what really established him for me was just the order of events. Kong shows up and we see pure horror in his face as he watches the apes be mistreated. He helps up one, lets the guard shout at him, punches him out and basically says to them “get me your leader.” And the Scar Kings first thing upon inspecting Kong, is notice the tooth he had replaced. It’s tougher and likely more useful than a normal tooth, something that could be used against him. And what does the Scar king do? He laughs. He laughs in the face of the one monster to stand a fighting chance against Godzilla. He doesn’t care about challengers because he doesn’t see anyone as a challenge in the first place.
Comparing Scar King & Ghidorah is like comparing Joker to Darkseid. One is a dark, twisted, and very emotional villain, with his villainous deeds cleary being the result of an unhinged mind. While Ghidorah & Darkseid are much more grand in scale. They are cosmic villains. While yes, they do have emotions, wants, & needs, they are pretty much evil incarnate. A monstrous being of pure chaos & sadism, who wants nothing more than to watch the Galaxy burn under their feet. Scar King’s goal is to control, to become a ruler. Ghidorah’s goal is do become a god. He wants the Titans to worship him, just so he can see their betrayed faces when he kills them. Scar King is a supervillain (in a good way), while King Ghidorah is the devil
GxK and Minus One being compared in any way is ridiculous. They're two different worlds doing two different ideas. Both originate from Toho. I love Godzilla Minus One and the Monsterverse. Any fan of either or both should know damn well comparison between the two makes ZERO sense.
Honestly, I think what the Monsterverse needs is a movie with a human count of zero. If there was a movie that took place millions of years ago and didn't show a single sign of humanity.
I like scar king but i wanted to see more of him. Like they didnt show enough to where it made him looked threatening. They made him controlling shimo the main source of his power…i thought they were gonna make him use intelligence, tools, and weapons to outsmart kong and godzilla. Like the way he fights with all the flips n shit was awesome. Just kinda wished they did more with that. But all n all i still loved his design and still think he was a very cool
MUTOS: overpopulate their species in whole world for their survival, which broke the law of nature. Ghidorah: Destroying most the planets, replacing the humanity, reshape the planet into more preferable for him. Mechagodzilla: Wipe out the titans, and replace godzilla, but ended up being took over by the alien devil. Skar king: Does tons of evil and disgusting thing to his people like r@ping and abuse. doesn't give a shit about his kingdom, controls shimo, forced to do his jobs, also wants to dominate the surface of the earth.
I think after building him up as a villian, there was more build up that behind the brutal tyrant who mocks Kong, he’s really a coward at heart when the odds turn against him. It shows that Skar King is a metaphor for tyranny where they give off an illusion of power, yet often uses others to do his dirty work to spread fear amongst his followers. But when Skar King lost the source of that power, Shimo, the brutal tyrant gets exposed for the coward he really is. It’s a real poetic tale of a bully being put in his place where he tries to put an act without fear, he really is scared of losing the tools that give him that. He knows without Shimo, he’s nothing and his followers would turn on him.
@ 1:05 Godzilla 2014 - Mid? Okay I'll give you that one. It's really good not great. I can understand some calling it mid. Kong: Skull Island - good? Nah! That one is peak Monsterverse Cinema. Kong's story is magnificent. Godzilla: KoM - Peak? I agree, but not as good as Kong. GvK - You despise it? Bruh why? The movie is about Godzilla v Kong and we got 3 rounds of them fighting. Short, quick to the point, never a dull moment in the film, and beautiful visuals and CGI. GxK A New Empire - Once again did NOT disappoint. I don;t go into these films expecting a deep thought-provoking story, I want to see Monsters fight. Kaijus, Titans! You're clearly expecting something different from these movies and that's on you.
im gonna disagree with your king of the monster takes its too many human not intrasting but hay i repasct your ponit there but the rest i agree skar king remind me of old disney movie villan and poor shimo she was a slave to him just likes the other kong specis under skar king control and skar king play dirty too im glade that shimo freez skar king and kong finish him by smashing him to ice cream meat hahahah and i like it when i use too know and unlike disney gxk know what they need to be an unlike disney wish when the movie don't know what to be at all ?!.
Not sure if you noticed this, but to add to Skar King's ruthlessness, That wasnt Suko's dad. That was his mom. Skar king impregnated and sexually harassed the apes of his OWN tribe, you can see more than just Suko with the colour pattern that only Skar king has.
its strange to me how many people even talk about the human side of these movies I've recently been through almost every godzilla movie and there are really only a couple of exceptions to this rule the originals, Shin and Minus one seem to be the only movies with passible human characters and stories, note all these movies share 1 thing in common; Godzilla is the villain, not the hero and he's also the only Monster in those movies, it is them vs him. the vast majority of Godzilla movies are him fighting another monster and its all about the cheese and the fights, honestly they've tried so many different things with the humans and they're almost never interesting, you can see as the movies go on its a case of; How big and bad can we make the monsters and the fights or how many monsters can we possibly fit into this movie. An interesting example I would use is Final Wars, now Final Wars is a case of how many monsters can we fit in one movie, but they also tried something very very different with the humans, they really tried to make them more interesting, the humans in that movie gave me power rangers vibes but they're still easily the weakest part of the movie, I've come to the realization that if the focus of the movie is monsters fighting then it seems almost impossible to take any of the real attention away from that, its all people want to see and it's simply a spotlight the humans will never take unless its just humans vs godzilla. I've grown to think that honestly if you're shitting on these movies for the human stories then you're kinda missing the point, I've been very excited to see this movie and even after rewatching the others I could not care less about the human characters, I want to see big monsters fighting, and i'm pretty sure all fans of the genre are the same. I think the genre is quite self aware in this respect, like I say they've tried many different things with the humans, but as time goes on it just becomes less and less about the humans, no one is overly invested in the universe they've set up, we just want to see the action and even the American stuff is self aware in this respect I think, every movie that comes out in this universe is more and more focused on the monsters, not the people, and for good reason, it is not what people care about, and its not what they're going to spend the most time, effort and money on, it is what it is. It seems most people that are shitting on this movie are of the same mind, its always shitting on the humans, and I understand that Minus One did the humans very well, and thats what people are using as a comparison, which makes sense, but you've got to understand the differences and why that is the case, in short, if Godzilla is the villain the humans should be important, if he's not you've got very small chance of getting anything memorable out of the humans at all, the quicker you realize this and let that settle in the sooner you can sit back, relax and just enjoy the movies for what they are, giant monster porn.
I'm glad people loved skar king, yet I can't help but disagree; I felt hist presentation was weak and didn't really like how dumb of a leader he was throughout the movie.
“Godzilla King of the Monsters is peak Monsterverse” That sentence made me extremely happy. It’s my favorite movie of all time, and I will continue to defend it from my grave.
@@Enchanted___ Really nice choice of words in your response ngl. It better not be because I'm sick of idiots who bash the New Empire based on how it compares to Minus One
It doesn't matter, a story doesn't always need to be dark and gloomy to have good, fun characters that you don't want to fucking die. I swear that mute girl could fall a cliff and die and I wouldn't even care.
I totally agree with you, Skar King is the best MV villain for me and my new favorite titan with Godzilla. I extremely like when a movie has an amazing villain and that is the definition of Skar King. He is so menacing and cold, gosh when he walks it looks like he is possessed, i freaking love that!
I feel as if a Brute Force introduction to Skar King was the best introduction skar king could have gotten In the context of the character. Because that’s how they fight. Brute force. They don’t take strategy into their battle or anything. But if they did, maybe a mysterious introduction would have been better. But that’s just my take
Skar king is still pure evil tho. Sure he may not be out to destroy the world like ghidorah was, but he was still cruel, sadistic, and an absolute monster. The very fact alone this his treachery is what started the on going war between the kings and the gojira's makes him all that much worse.
Scar Kings intro was my favorite part of the movie. I wish he was more of a threat. I didn’t really like how he was getting thrown around like a rag doll in the Brazil 🇧🇷 fight scene
Oh yeah like the Skar king with that spine wipe around him, he reminds me of a African Warlord and seeing his fur is red if it was green he could be the Joker to Kong’s Batman and speaking of I thought that you do a video on Kong vs Godzilla and BVS maybe Captain America Civil War, but also that Skar King is pure evil that I think the baby ape that helped Kong is his son (since he has ginger hair) that he doesn’t care about him and that is why people like Jack Horner from Puss in Boots and the High Evolutionary from Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Shemo reminds me of Dr Wu’s creations from Jurassic World trilogy
How weird, I saw a video yesterday talking about the movie and how disappointing Skar King was for him, not even mentioning this excellent introduction. You know, I get it, Skar King doesn't really have much screen time, and he certainly is just "raw" evil. But it works for me, because I believe that it's supposed to show what a weaker version of Kong would look like. Allow me to explain what I mean: -His "build up" let's say, is brilliant because as the audience we are told and shown that something big and terrifying is hiding in Hollow Earth, even being foreshadowed (I think) with that frog-like creature mimicking his roar, confusing Kong. - Then we see Kong facing a group of very beaten apes, showing signs that from where they're from, things are difficult. - Then we have Suko being scared and confused by Kong, whose first move was try to reach to him instead of attacking him. And when Kong finally convinces him that he's not a menace, is Suko the one trying to warn Kong that they're heading to a deadly, isolated place. - Kong enters to Skar King's domain, and all he sees is suffering, aggression and fear. When he helps out an ape who had almost fainted out of exhaustance, everyone is amazed by such action, except THAT only ape who got a quick reward after yelling at Kong. - Finally we have his proper intro, in which we see him sitting in his throne, eyes blankly staring straight to his intruder, and well, he proceeds to mock him because of his new fang, then disposing one of his own just because he felt like it, and then proceeds to fight with Kong making use of his devastating whiplash. I really enjoyed all of this because it shows that he's the antithesis of Kong. He's just evil and cruel, he doesn't care for anyone else but himself, he only wants to bring chaos to the world because he simply enjoys that. I will say though, the first time I saw him I was like "Kong could smash him pretty easily, no doubt of that" but that's another thing that surprised me: Skar King is aware of that, extremely aware I would say. He uses moves that are more acrobatic, uses his surroundings to attack, helps himself with his whiplash and, of course, he has a secret powerful card: Shimo. And the best of all is that he acknowledges all of this, he knows by exchanging punches with Kong that he's no match for him, and then releases Shimo. Obviously when Kong gets his new super glove he proceeds to overpower him much easily, even if Skar King has his whiplash or not, and when Godzilla crushes his weapon, he literally races to the crystal that controls Shimo in a desperate attempt to regain his power, because if not he knows he's done for, it's game over for him. Something that eventually happens. So yes, he may not be the best villain ever written, but he doesn't really need to. If later on we get a comic or something explaining his roots or some of his backstory, it would be amazing though, because a lot of fans really want to know more about him.
The reason I love Godzilla 2014 is because it’s serious and almost horror like. They should bring that team back in the (hopefully) next monster verse movie
He genuinely sucked ass
Skar King’s introduction scene was my absolute favourite part of the movie. That whole sequence was genuinely amazing. Making a character as scary as that with no dialogue is very impressive. It sucks he never really had that same effect afterwards but at least that scene was done VERY well
Did you just call Godzilla vs Kong bad and a junk food? Did you also call the new empire junk food? Bro you high on all kinds of weeds that exist. Both these movies alone put most of mcu to shame
I agree with you but also comparing the style and tone of something like Godzilla King of the Monsters it is definitely just junk food of a movie compared to a lot more movies
Suko is Skars kid also, he released Shimo cause Kong was about to get the upper hand. Kong slammed him onto the ground and then he released Shimo lol but, he is sick. I liked that he was twisted and actually had stones to go fight Kong lmao
As a fan who loves all of the movies including the human storylines, this movie has the best characters in the monsterverse and I thought their story was interesting
"Not so great, human story" so you didn't pay attention, got it. The mother daughter dynamic was actually good, and even got to my dad. So, like, do you watch the human characters? Because GvK, the human subplot did not say alcohol solves all your problems, it shorted out a computer, are you drunk?
1. Go watch Godzilla minus one and you’ll know my standards for Godzilla movie human stories (trust me you’ll love it if you liked this human story) 2. Pouring alcohol circuited the system which is implying that alcohol solves your problems cuz the way they weaken mechagodzilla is because of the alcohol so I was just pointing out that little thing for comedic value
Despise is kinda harsh. And both movies focus more on kaiju emotion as they are able to use Kong as a proper character and I love that. I felt more for Kong than humans of 90% of movies. He's just used so well.
@@Enchanted___ were Desensitized when a human dies since is so common in this movies but with kong you always you feel sad when bad things are happening to him with how dramatic it is (unless you meat ride godzilla, then you laugh hysterically)
@@Enchanted___that’s part of the reason I’ve always said that in these movies, the humans aren’t the main characters, the monster are. The humans are Essentially side characters and are used to get from one plot point or event to the other. I hope that seeing how much people enjoyed the lack of talking while still telling a story, I hope they cut more and more human explanation and involvement and let the actual important characters be on screen more.

For me, this movie is the best MonsterVerse movie! Reasons: the action in this movie is by far the best in the MonsterVerse! The humans in this movie weren't annoying and they were actually important for the plot. Skar King is definitely the best villain and Shimo was good, but they should have had more screen time. Godzilla was on demon time the whole movie and you can see it. Every time Godzilla is on screen, you know some titan is going to get his a** whooped. Kong here is probably the best character and he really proves that he deserves title "king" in his name. Suko is annoying at first, but after few minutes of him on screen, you can't not to love him. The only bad thing in this movie is that Tiamat got killed in just 10 seconds. I think they should have made that Godzilla defeated him, but not kil*ed him. I mean like after Godzilla defeated her, Tiamat left her territory and went to cities, so Godzilla could fight her in Godzilla's solo 3rd movie. After all I said, this movie is one of the best movies I have ever seen and I am giving it 9/10.
this movie is proof that if hollywood just atleast wrote somewhat ineresting characters and not make them corny cheesy forced one liners people, they can have a nearly perfect movie, Godzilla is written well, they did REALLY good with kong but ofc everytime theyre not on screen is just annoying
the daughter I forget her name, she's pretty interesting being the only one to rlly communicate with kong, ig trapper is cool he actually helped, but why was the weird conspiracy dude there, he served not a single purpose besides point the obvious and make unfunny jokes, he was borderline useless
3:38 small correction, that was not Suko's father. Just the caretaker. Suko is actually Skar King's son, he owns several sex slaves which are even shown in the movie. They're seen holding babies in his throne room. Source: GxK and the official movie novelization.
I thought the movie was so-so, but I really liked Skar King. They gave him so much personality through things like facial expression, body language and how he moves. He has this arrogant swagger to him.
Yes. I also like how they later built up his fall. That behind this brutal tyrant laid a cowardly bully. Shimo was his true power and the reason he was able to rule , without that whip, the Kaiju would turn on him after years of abuse and his followers wouldn’t bother to help either.
To me the best thing Godzilla 2014 did was truely encapsulating the feel of what Godzilla is supposed to be. It really feel like Humanity can do absolutely nothing against the Godzilla and the MUTOs and that we can only minimize the damage done. Some of the scenes are nearly apocalyptic in their feel, the dive into San Francisco for instance. And I think that is exactly what the film makers were trying to protray. I feel like a lot of that feel was taken away with king of the monsters when the military used the Oxygen Destroyer as it became clear that Humanity at anytime could actually just kill Godzilla with the use of just a few Oxygen Destroyers.
I would like to point out that in Ghostbusters (not the topic of the video, I know, but there was that tangent towards the end) yeah the Ice ghost isn’t present for most of the film, but then neither is Gozer in the original. It’s mainly just cutaways to Dana being possessed and that’s about it save for a five minute sequence and Stay-Puft

Ghidorah was a million times stronger than Scar King ever was but I agree technically Scar King was more evil because he abuses his army and shimo yet Ghidorah just awakened them
He even spared Rodan
Gunna have to disagree with you on this one chief. Getting your slaves to destroy the very planet they live on, knowing that it’ll kill them too, is far worse.
@@Mystify0324I think you’re missing the point bud
I love how the Monsterverse has given these classic kaiju so much more personality than they used to 😊
My favourite classic kaiju from the monsterverse has to be rodan since they took what was an ultimately silly looking kaiju and turned it into something that feels genuinely threatening.
I gasped when i saw that scene! And also made me question if skar king is a different kong species
Skar king has a firced harem?!
@@AM-sj5vr a forced harem
He had motivation, very VERY evil motivation-
dude literally got excited at the sight of humans running in complete fear lol his ultimate goal was just inflicting fear and pain on every single being that isn’t him
Eh, Ghidorah wanted to destroy the world for funsies, so...
Skar king is the most human-like titan in the MonsterVerse so that explains it.
Damn imagine a story of skar king when he was younger ascending the kong ranks
What got me gasping was when we saw the three decapitated ape heads on the sticks.

I love it.
He's such a jerk and I love Skar King
He's just laughing and smiling and I love him
Honestly I really like Skar king's menacing grin. His grin kind of reminds me of koba from planet of the apes

@@DreamFearless I mean when he first encounters kong
@@DreamFearless I will never forgive you for that pfp
That show was a dumpster fire
If it weren't for Shimo, he would have gotten his ass beaten by Kong, his whole aspect of a fraud villain, who rules others by fear with a stolen power to back him up is unique for the Monsterverse, and I love it
He was ruthless af, he was a bastard through and through, and the way he was introduced was menacing and gave me quite a chill, and I love how his treatment of poor Shimo sealed his fate, he asked for it.
Also, his personality is just amazing, genuinely taking great joy of torturing the apes and Shimo, laughing at Kongs new tooth, and then getting the same treatment was just a chefs kiss
All in all, I really enjoyed him as a Monsterverse kaiju villain, he is not perfect by any means, but he is good enough for me.
Sounds like a recipe for inbreeding

From the look on Skar King's face after Kong challenges him, we see that he truly loves to fight.
Skar was kinda a nothing-burger for me tbh what really captivated was the main monsters dynamics (mainly seeing Kong's progress and Godzilla's power-ups)
skar kings cruelty is exactly how I want Destoroyah to be like in the monsterverse
And I think the best part of Skar King is that he isn’t shown a origin story of how he became evil, like Ghidorah came from another planet and the Mutos and Skullcrawlers were basically predators and Mechagodzilla was a machine to wipe out every Titan while Skar King isn’t shown any origin how he became evil
I swear if you combine Ghidorah and Skar King together you can literally get Destoroyah (destructive and as powerful as Ghidorah but as evil as Skar King)
Shimo is my favorite Ghostbusters character.
(Don't know about the newer novelization.)
P.S have my subscription!

Later in the movie, an ape tells Skar King about the portals to the Earth surface it found, and inside Skar King’s lair there are a bunch of female apes taking care of their young
These baby apes have an orange fur, just as Skar King’s
And if you pay attention, throught the movie there’s no sign of any juvenile giant apes besides the ones on Skar King’s lair and Suko
I think it’s safe to assume that Skar King took advantage of his power and became the dominant male, who has the “right” to procreate with all the females in the pack

Bruh now i feel like the tv spots showed him being bodied on purpose
for me skar king was missing that threat factor ghidorah had with godzilla in the movie

Skar king seemed so weak , like they introduced him good but he never felt threatening
@@coletrain583that was perfectly said. He’s an evil coward that uses others for power!

the originals, Shin and Minus one seem to be the only movies with passible human characters and stories, note all these movies share 1 thing in common; Godzilla is the villain, not the hero and he's also the only Monster in those movies, it is them vs him.
the vast majority of Godzilla movies are him fighting another monster and its all about the cheese and the fights, honestly they've tried so many different things with the humans and they're almost never interesting, you can see as the movies go on its a case of; How big and bad can we make the monsters and the fights or how many monsters can we possibly fit into this movie.
“Godzilla King of the Monsters is peak Monsterverse”
That sentence made me extremely happy. It’s my favorite movie of all time, and I will continue to defend it from my grave.
Same here! So many people think it's mid but I LOVE it
Love all the plot conveniences and lack of reason for really anything that’s happing
@@gregcarpenter2908 same! It's actually really fun to watch and that's why I love it lol
@@gregcarpenter2908 Yeah same! That's what makes it amazing lol
Fr it's also my fav but they cut the final fight to show some human yapping which is not cool
Skar King literally forgot how to get to the surface and did nothing until Kong found him...
He was trapped on the bottom floor of the hollow earth.
Wouldn't it be smart to not actually compare this and Minus One? Pretty stupid and unfair if you ask me given they're two different movies
I’ve already taken that into mind but the way I’m comparing them is not going to be like what you’re thinking of…
@@Enchanted___ Really nice choice of words in your response ngl. It better not be because I'm sick of idiots who bash the New Empire based on how it compares to Minus One
Trust me I am not gonna be bashing the new empire on Sunday
It doesn't matter, a story doesn't always need to be dark and gloomy to have good, fun characters that you don't want to fucking die.
I swear that mute girl could fall a cliff and die and I wouldn't even care.
1:06 “Godzilla is mid” Now, hold on 🤨
I mean, he’s King Louie after all.
King of the swingers
I totally agree with you, Skar King is the best MV villain for me and my new favorite titan with Godzilla. I extremely like when a movie has an amazing villain and that is the definition of Skar King. He is so menacing and cold, gosh when he walks it looks like he is possessed, i freaking love that!
Bro scar king is a fraud bro talked all that just be tossed around 😂
I feel as if a Brute Force introduction to Skar King was the best introduction skar king could have gotten In the context of the character. Because that’s how they fight. Brute force. They don’t take strategy into their battle or anything. But if they did, maybe a mysterious introduction would have been better. But that’s just my take
Skar king may not have been as pure evil as ghiroah ( who literally wanted to kill all life on earth) but he was cruel like no other
Skar king is still pure evil tho. Sure he may not be out to destroy the world like ghidorah was, but he was still cruel, sadistic, and an absolute monster. The very fact alone this his treachery is what started the on going war between the kings and the gojira's makes him all that much worse.
pretty sure skar king is sukos father
His entrance was epic, u felt his power and dominance but wasted potential 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ bro got dropped once by Kong and gave up
Scar king was cool until the end
I thought skar king is the father and the monkey he kicked was the mother or soemthing but idk 3:35
Allow me to explain what I mean:
-His "build up" let's say, is brilliant because as the audience we are told and shown that something big and terrifying is hiding in Hollow Earth, even being foreshadowed (I think) with that frog-like creature mimicking his roar, confusing Kong.
I’d hope so too that is one of its redeeming qualities in my opinion
His initial introduction was cool. He had a lot of personality and seemed intimidating. Then he got his ass kicked by Kong and continuously did nothing but use shim to do the actual fighting. Skar king was the most disappointing villain. He’s the perfect example of how to make your villain a complete pushover with no backstory or reasoning behind his motives. He genuinely sucked ass
Skar King’s introduction scene was my absolute favourite part of the movie. That whole sequence was genuinely amazing. Making a character as scary as that with no dialogue is very impressive. It sucks he never really had that same effect afterwards but at least that scene was done VERY well
GxK: action movie
0-1: horror movie
People need to stop comparing -1 to legendary their two different types of movie's
I agree
@@Enchanted___ 👍✨
Did you just call Godzilla vs Kong bad and a junk food? Did you also call the new empire junk food? Bro you high on all kinds of weeds that exist. Both these movies alone put most of mcu to shame
I agree with you but also comparing the style and tone of something like Godzilla King of the Monsters it is definitely just junk food of a movie compared to a lot more movies
Small correction, skar king is sukos father, the ape that he kicked into lava was sukos mother
Should have called it titan the new empire. It was good 👍🏻 it was more of a kong film than godzilla hints why Kong got most of the time.
1. Go watch Godzilla minus one and you’ll know my standards for Godzilla movie human stories (trust me you’ll love it if you liked this human story)
I actually agree that he’s more interesting and emotional than the humans!
Fr we want none of the humans yapping just show the fight
Skar is evil and I love his character for that
Do not let this guy make another video 🔥🔥🔥
AGREED 🔥🔥🔥
What did you think of GxK The New Empire
finally you made it! this movie is THE goat of Monsterverse! imo.
Good job i hate thar guy 0:50
@@jasondhanesar4634 I'm so glad he called the bastard out for it. He sucks and I don't get why he has views or praise from his "fans" Tried watching him, and never ever watching him again.
I have never felt this much like a kid since when I watched Godzilla King Of The Monsters. This is pretty much everything I could’ve asked for
They've been cooking since the first godzilla, godzilla really is a goat of a character that every movie is🔥
this movie is proof that if hollywood just atleast wrote somewhat ineresting characters and not make them corny cheesy forced one liners people, they can have a nearly perfect movie, Godzilla is written well, they did REALLY good with kong but ofc everytime theyre not on screen is just annoying
the daughter I forget her name, she's pretty interesting being the only one to rlly communicate with kong, ig trapper is cool he actually helped, but why was the weird conspiracy dude there, he served not a single purpose besides point the obvious and make unfunny jokes, he was borderline useless
Good to see this movie getting praised
This video is good ❤
I’m pretty sure that was sukos mom. Not his dad
He was mossed the entire movie
If anything gvk had more soul than Gxk and the humans in gvk were good unlike kotm
I respect your opinion
2014 is best in MV
2014 still the best monsterverse movie
3:38 small correction, that was not Suko's father. Just the caretaker. Suko is actually Skar King's son, he owns several sex slaves which are even shown in the movie. They're seen holding babies in his throne room.
Source: GxK and the official movie novelization.
I feel like Gxk is better Gvk
It’s mainly just cutaways to Dana being possessed and that’s about it save for a five minute sequence and Stay-Puft
i dropped my jaw, rocket in my chair, screamed, i just freaked out man. this whole movie had me completely shocked. i absolutely love it. skar king is probably my new favorite character in the zilla movies. hes just so cool
