I learned more in the first 5 mins of this video than in my entire chapter in the textbook. The textbook went on and on and on about the derivation of the equations and didn't give me any intuition into what I was looking at. Dr. Hanson is an absolute legend!!

You're such a lifesaver, the only reason why I'm doing well in mechanics. The only person that could make learning this course fun, thank you!

thank you for these videos extremely helpful. im using a shigleys mechanical engineering design manual and the book uses the same equation for stress prime y as x but at a different angle which could be easily interpreted wrong. your method is a simpler and more reliable, well for me anyway.

Thank you for your courses. It's been really helpful to me, however sigma y' here is bigger than principle stress and I got different values using Mohr circle. I know your video is for two years ago but I'm getting crazy that I cant find answer for my problem.

The answer at the end is incorrect . He wrote 25 when it was 125 and the final answer should’ve been in tension 70.75MPa

from the formula, shouldnt it be 25, not 125 tho? since its -(sigma_x-sigma_y)/2
