Charming, lovely piece of drama! They're not made this way any more. Such a shame.

They can't or won't make tv programmes like this any more...superb acting by all.

Watching from the great state of Texas and this is the sort of television that is so sorely missed today
Pull up a chair I made real scones with clotted cream and marmalade, and I have four types of English tea available

I missed all of these programs from the late 70s and 80s.
I was in the army in Germany without TV.

Very nice message of peace. When we were young in the 70' many of us didn't think that war could last. How wrong we were!

I had a TV in those days because of plays like that etc etc etc. I put the TV out for the bin man, these 12 years now, why, because you do not get programs like that any more, instead, well, need I go on.

What a lovely story, if you keep this up I will die of dehydration, they all bring me to tears. I think it must be the natural kindness in people that you don’t often see in this day and age.

Loved the Dad.Played By the ICONIC Lionel Jeffrey's. Always think of him as the Dad in Chitty Chitty Bang bang

Yep. Although technically Dick Van Dyke played the 'dad'. (Despite being older than Lionel Jeffries himself).

This was on Iowa Masterpiece or a British series in 1980s. I recorded it on our VCR & have watched it from time to time. I also enjoyed "A Bit of Singing & Dancing". Another British one time show

No don't have Chintz, but it is potentially available to view in your local library (if you are based in the UK). See www.bfi.org.uk/bfi-national-archive/bfi-replay/where-can-you-find-bfi-replay for details. Chintz is definitely included as part of BFI Replay
