- From Turning Sports Cars into SUVs, to adding Fake Vents everywhere. Let's talk about the worst car trends of modern day vehicles! You could likely tell the Shell Car Rant was a video of it's own, but I put it here because let's be honest...people KNOW what they are, without KNOWING what they are. What I mean by that, is that people have seen shell cars, but don't know they're called, "Shell Cars". So if I made it a separate video, it wouldn't get any views.

@@ollivermohler7385 from what I've seen, 90% of the people who actually acknowledge the mach e positively will usually just refer to it as the mach e, or just a ford ev crossover. They literally could have used any other nameplate, like the galaxy or some shit.

For the “mid engine LS wannabe” cars, he put the Mosler MT900S, thats actually a really cool car, it is CRAZY stiff and durable, stupidly light (2500 lbs! Thats light!), and looks like a Saline S7 mixed with a C6 Vette.

I like Scott The Woz's method for explaining why unique doesn't mean special. What he did was to drew a line on a sonic game cartridge with a silver sharpie and then called it unique because he had the only one with that stripe.

My gripe has always been about fog lights. Although manufacturers have gotten much better about it, I remember when they would just make one bumper cover for a model and if a car wasn't optioned for fog lights there would just be big holes there. Or a super ugly plastic cap.
Yeah, some cars don't even have fog lights as an option, because the spot where fog lights would normally go is taken up by a set of DRLs. Go ask the 2017-2019 Corolla about that, because I haven't got an answer.
I’m gonna say, the 2020 Supra and the modern NSX does at least stay sort of true to the nameplate, meanwhile the Eclipse is a CUV.
All new NSX is a very low slung SUV becuz it weighs over 1700kg instead of 1200kg

Finally someone who recognizes what the corvette really is. People always think the corvette is a muscle car but it was never designed to be one and never was, it was always faster than any GTO, Mustang, or Cuda, hell it was the first American sports car and to call it a muscle car is a bit of a downgrade.

Yeah, the Camaro was always built to take corvettes place in the muscle scene. The corvette was always being built to be a sports/supercar. The only problem I have is it’s starting to look too Italian which sucks because the corvette is kind of the face of American sports cars

Just so everyone knows the grille on the camry, corolla, and the avalon aren't 100% open due to more than half of the grille being covered by the bash bar right behind so it's more or so 30% of air that is being used

I remember when the C7 Corvette came to Europe. They changed the numbers on the speedometer but not the unit, so you had Corvettes reacing 300+ mph in Europe.
Man I hate low profile tires. I just bought a new car and had to get the lowest spec model to not get them. I seriously don't understand why anyone would pay more for them. The tires cost more and are harder to find, rims cost more, rims break more often, rougher ride, worse fuel economy, etc. All those sacrifices so it can "look cool". I seriously don't understand people.
Handling can feel a lot better since larger wheels increase weight and lower profile tires tend to have sportier treads.
Please don't misinterpret, I'm not saying it's better, just different uses. Also, runflats are absolutely horrible.
@@sb2h it's more that the lack of sidewall prevents the sidewall from flexing. But honestly you shouldn't be taking turns that hard casually. Not unless you really intent to run people or yourself off the road.
@@Skylancer727 sounds like a skill issue to me. Also, weight of the wheels matters a whole lot more than you'd think. A heavy pair of wheels will hurt your speed for sure, but can make it feel like your car is on rails.
@@sb2h that's more related to the width and attack angle of your wheels. Some tires are wider than others and give those traits and tires with a flatter profile will give the more train tracking feel. Ironically these traits are great for perfect conditions but thinner and more angled tires are better in rain and snow. The smaller contact patch might make you think it's worse but it actually puts more pressure digging into snow better and less likely to plane on the water.
Lower profile doesn't inherently do the same. As I said, lower profile tires only benefit is that the lack of sidewalls means the sidewalls won't flex in turns increasing stability in high speed turns as the flexing could cause loss of traction.
But as I said, who casually takes turns hard? If a cop were behind you they'd just pull you over whether you make it or not and you'll going that hard is a danger to others on the road if they don't react like you do. I generally subscribe to the fact that having more confidence in your driving makes you a better driver, but there is such a thing as overconfidence.
@@Skylancer727 you've shared a bunch a basic information about summer vs winter traction profiles and benefits of each, but that has completely nothing to do with what I'm saying of heavier wheels giving a more confident feel for handling.
I currently sell and install tires for a living, so I've heard (and seen) all of what you just said and more. You're correct, but only as far as tires go.
Also, taking corners aggressively isn't illegal 😂. You remain in the speed limit and if you never once lose traction there is no case for reckless endangerment. What's more dangerous is slowing to a near stop for every turn you do, causing people to slam on their brakes or change lanes without much preparation to avoid you

@@mateuszzimon8216 that's not the point. It's about being mechanically connected to the car more. Having the clutvh and transmission be actually mechanically connected to the transmission helps you feel connected to the car
@@mateuszzimon8216 The thing with manual is not about the stick that allows you to move around the gears - at least that's a minor aspect. The real deal is that you have full control over the clutch, and exactly when and how the gear changes happen. Any automated car still does all the calculations for you. You might be able to tell it to shift when you want to, but the way it shifts is still the same software/robot driven driver non-experience.
Compare it to this: You can tell a waiter exactly when they should bring you some grilled food, or you can go grill it yourself. In both cases you chose when you want the food to be delivered, but in the case of telling the waiter, you don't get the satisfaction of grilling it yourself, the smell, the heat, the experience of taking part in a good bbq event.
At least that kinda makes sense

The whole "declaring less HP that real" makes actually perfect sense for Italian/German car manufacturers. Since in those nations car taxes are payed in function of BHP, meaning that for example, in Italy, declaring 80bhp less could save the owner more than 300€ in taxes. The real reason is tax evasion, not scamming the possible owners.

@@faxxzc in italy car tax depends on both horsepower and co2 emission, like your car gets classified in one of the Euro 1/2/3/4/5/6/6d categories depending on how much co2/km is emitted. Each category pays a certain amount of money per kilowatt, more for older cars and less for newer more ecofriendly ones. Then you need to multiply this with your engine power expressed in kW.

Maximilliano 212,000 for a Miata. In the first one you got a 370z, Hellcat Loaded dodge, or a Saleen Mustang for free if i remember correctly. And getting a 911 was super easy and REALLY OP compared to real ones. I got my Dads 911 Carrera when he died (I was 17) and I got it topping at 175 at 300HP or so. I had to sell in to pay for 5 months rent for a new place a sign of “good faith” and a new car.

It is possible to mate a manual transmission to a hybrid powertrain. After all, the Honda CRZ EX Hybrid had a manual transmission.
@@EbilEnemyofBurgerTown the CR-Z was a MILD hybrid. The NSX is a FULL hybrid with all sorts of vehicle dynamics controls that would never work with a manual transmission.

Thank-you for addressing the big wheels with rubber-band tire trend. If the world were perfect and roads never deteriorated, it might be OK. But in the real world where we all live, potholes are a thing. And so are expansion joints. I'm running 195 65 R15 on my car. When I bought a set of alloy wheels for it, I had to special order 15 inch rims because 16 inch was the smallest size in stock and I did not want to throw away the brand-new set of Bridgestones the car came with. "Big sidewalls make for sloppy handling), not in my experience. The things that make a great race car will make you miserable on a bumpy road.
When I finally replace my car with a BEV (No, I won't be going ICE ever again) I will buy the smallest wheels, with the biggest sidewall, that will fit over the brakes.

I have a 2019 Civic and overall am happy with it. However, it has one thing I hate that seems to be getting more common in new cars. An electronic parking brake.
Instead of a cable ebrake that can be used in an emergency as well as for parking, it is replaced with a lever button (same kind often used for windows, not sure the technical name) that electronically locks the wheels. You can't use it while moving.
I hope I never get in an emergency situation that would call for pulling the ebrake.
Yeah, and it's probably because people in general will prefer a button for the hand brake, however, i really like the oldschool way.

There was actually a concept for a 4 door Mustang back in the 60's, it never saw production though and probably for the better. The Probe was originally meant to be a FWD update to the Mustang, people rightfully hated it so it became it's own car and for what it was, it wasn't bad. They should do the same thing with the new electric Mustang, make it something else. Also, 4 door cars can be sporty like the Lancer Evo, Impreza, and GTR for example (though you can get two door variants on 2 of those and they look a lot better). Still, the Mustang hasn't had 4 doors for 56 years, let it continue to stay 2 door. ...Well the name was already tarnished by the Mustang II (though even that was still 2 door) but that was 45 years ago.

A small misconception about forged wheels in general, is that while yes forged spokes are stronger than cast, that doesn' mean the end result is necessarily stronger than a comparable cast version. The main idea behind forging wheels is that the manufacturer makes use of the increased strength, which allows them to shave off more material so that they can lower the weight. So the actual wheel itself isn't stronger overall compared to a cast version, it's equally strong but at a lower weight (there are some complexities in the metal crystalization that is avoided through forging which also changes its structural rigidity and impact absorbtion, but this is a minor point compared to just the raw strength overall).

The thing I hate about new cars is that they all look too similiar to be aerodynamic and fuel efficient, I'm sure there's some way to make your car stand out while still achieving your goal.
It doesn't really have much to do with aero. The Prius and Model 3 have very close aero yet look very distinct. I'd say many cars follow the flaw of only making what consumers are used to. I mean look at the old Hyundai Ioniq, it looked like a child's basic sketch of the shape of a car. Consumers are incredibly risk averse but are easily up sold.
