The washer trick when torqueing the head down is great to know. I have felt the slip before! I will use that trick next time!
Did you happen to see what happened with Jimmy Oakes' new head from Toyota? they never finished drilling the oil port in the front by cam seal!!! so keep an eye out for that!
Have seen that on two new heads here in the UK as well, glad we arent the only ones
I called him and told him to drill it out dude
Dude dan it’s king of 2 jz and how many jz he build with it , and this is his comp car of course he not newbie on this shit
The Supra looks so good every time your doing the refresh after so many battles can’t wait for the next episode 🤙
Can’t wait either dude. Let’s go
welcome to the vvti side :)
The shop is looking great. Haven't been able to catch a video in a while. But it looks like you guys have it all figured out. 👍
Yes it’s getting dialed in slowly
Sick car.
damn I cant wait to build a 2jz ge for my 350z im honestly just so fucking excited but parts from the US ooooof
A
I still like torco for what it is
So do I but I must evolve the program dude. No issues with their products ever
All good Dan! I’m your fan regardless! Growth is always a positive when it comes to motorsports!
I’m excited to see my favorite FD driver back in action this season.
Excited to be back
You’re a lucky man. Renee is such an amazing woman.
Glad to see you’re coming back to FD.
Yes sir
Just saying…I was subscribed…then i wasn’t ( don’t think I ever unsubscribed?) so I re-subscribed 🤘🏾
Ok cool
Dan, how harsh is the pendulum effect with the rear mount being pushed so far back as opposed to being mounted over or in front of the diff?
I know you’ve likely experimented with different set ups and went with what works for your driving style.
Over the years I switched radiator placement in this car 4 times. This current setup doesn’t have much pendulum feel. But if I could fit both the RAD and the Fuel cell over the diff the car would be fast and transition better. My next build will be like that.
Hello dan! Interesting video. I have a question about the headstuds. Do you finger tight them to the bottom of the block and leave them like that or do you turn them back from the bottom to not create pressure in the block? How do you do? Thanks!
I don’t really turn them back but I don’t use a tool to tighten them just my had typically. I used do it how you described but I stopped about 5 years ago and just snug them with my hand
Man I’d love to work for you building 2jz looks peaceful
Yep
You should do a Artec turbo manifold There cast stainless steel their flow tested for optimal performance with excellent wastegate priority, and they’re not a pain in the ass to bolt on like most JZ manifolds and they offer it in V band, twin scroll or single scroll check them out you won’t be disappointed.
Can’t wait to see you on the podium this year Dan 🤙🏻
I may try it
I can confirm this! I was forced to buy the Artec by my builder, or he wouldn't do it 😂
I know you gonna tell me you'd want more time to prep but man, I can't wait to see you drift that jewel!
I would want more time for sure man, but definitely excited to get started with the season
Ice blasting
Are you running the GSC S1 cams?Did you have to do head clearance for the camshaft on vvti head?
Nice
Your first 2JZ VVTi WHAT
Well it’s the first time I decided to a vvti head on the comp car
Need to get TJ to send his new supra engine to you to go over. They think it’s a paperweight. I’m sure it can be saved in good hands.
How did you start pro drifting?
Started going to the track and learning
@@RADIndustries what do you recommend if I wanted to do like what sources
Love the 80's and love JDM cars this is my favorite content
Yeah buddy
Thanks for taking us along for the assembly. Love how it's turning out.
While it is alot of work, it sure must be nice to work with all those fresh, and more importantly, clean parts.
I'm too used to rust or road dirt and grime falling in my eyes when working on stuff. 😅
It is nice to work with clean parts
Absolutely love it man !! The rad supra is one of my fave cars ever use it all the time in forza, good luck on getting podium this year
Thanks dude
Just came from Aarons video with Nate, who had nothing but nice things to say about your work :) Cars looking soooo good for this season keep it up you two!
Yeah dude 🤘🏻
Hopefully you can have that vvti sounding as good as the non vvti. Awesome to see you going back to fd
Sounds the same
All black would look 🔥.
Loads of progress!
You plan on trying out one of those new Dart 2J blocks someday?
Not on the pro car, the new dart block is great but it’s 62lbs heavier than OEM. And I have never had a block issue in 18 years of being a 2JZ fanatic
I really like the combo with black and some blue that'll look sick.
Thanks 😊
Hey Dan wanted to say thanks for that Bellhousing also when will those carbon fiber covers be in stock?
Vvti are here and ready to be shipped
@@RADIndustries I looked on your website how do I go about ordering them?
#LetzGo24
I not sure that Corvette C7 not just sitting there?
Renee’s daily 🤘🏼
@@chrisnapp105 cool.
That’s the weekend car
about those upper control arms though
Beautiful pieces of metal. Very well thought of with the adjustments
Thanks man
Righteous
For the head bolts/studs and the washers, I always drop them all in the same oil I'm using for the engine and let em sit for at least 30min. Then I put them on without really wiping them down after putting on ARP lube in specified spots (nut/bolt mating surface/threads)
This is not a recommended method. Interesting
@@RADIndustries Unless I'm putting thru water jackets (some engines do) I rarely put anything but the arp lube on the threads, but those washers, I have seen other guys do something like you, but take em down to metal instead of surface scuff to reduce the "sticking" or that false peak. It's just something I picked up a long time ago from building a LOT of diesel engines in the military, and the torque yeilds on diesel as you can imagine, are crazy. So anything we can do to make the fasteners smoother w/ less false peaks the better.
Hype
Glad you’re coming back to FD, you’re one of the only good ones left 🫤
Thanks my dude
