- The 3d episode (with English subtitles) is dedicated to the one of the most famous Soviet composers - Matvey Blanter. Leonid Mikhailovich Kharitonov will talk about his creative collaboration with this composer and will tell about the history of the Dark-Eyed Cossack Girl song and its premier with the Alexandrov Red Army Choir in the Albert Hall in London on the March of 1967.
Interesting fact:
This interview was recorded on March 29, 2017 in Moscow by the son of the singer - Mikhail Kharitonov. That is 50 years sharp after the premier of the Dark-Eyed Cossack Girl song in Albert Hall in London (29.03.1967). We didn't plan this to happen so we think that it's a mystical coincidence ))
ABOUT THE SERIES:
This episode is a part of the documentary series named "Talking with my father". I decided to record the conversation with my father, the Russian singer (bass), the People's Artist of Russia - Leonid Mikhailovich Kharitonov. He also used to work in the legendary Twice Red Bannered Song and Dance Ensemble of the Soviet Army under A.V. Alexandrov (also known as the Red Army Choir or the Alexandrov Ensemble). We want to tell all his admirers about some interesting facts of the famous artist's life.
In this series, Leonid Mikhailovich will share his memories about his work, his friends and interesting cases from his busy creative life. He will talk about some famous people of the Soviet era, whom he happened to meet on his way: composers, musicians, actors, cosmonauts, military commanders and many others. And, of course, special attention will be paid to the "old school" soloists of his mostly beloved Alexandrov Ensemble.

This is phenomenal. This is the stuff that musicologists will love 100 years from now. Especially the ones obsessed with communism and the Soviet Union like me. I have embarked in a huge task. I am currently arranging many Folk songs from the Soviet Period for classical guitar as well the most famous marches that the Alexandrov Ensemble performs. I have some of these pieces that I recorded on my channel such as "Let's Go", V Put! This is real culture! This is real music! I want red army choir and no more starbucks and mcdonalds! I am very happy that Lyonya never escaped to the West unlike many of sell outs. He continues to stay true!

I have always loved opera and music in this style, games with themes on this gender and so on. I actually learned to play the piano because of these wartime songs. A month ago I found Alexandrov's last concert, as well as yor father's old videos from 65, on youtube (I had heard it before but never really stopped to pay attention). Well, I ended up addicted to these sounds to the point of translating them into Portuguese with the help of my girlfriend, who knows a little bit of Russian. Researching yesterday about the encore, I spent the day very very sad and emotional when I heard about the accident in 2016. Now, when I saw this video of your father and realized that 3 days after the video aired, your father passed away, made me emotional again. Your father, like the orchestra, sang the songs with their guts and souls, and that is their great legacy. May they rest in peace, happy and singing wherever they might be, and may this musical culture never loses its strength and continues to move us forever and ever!

Какое удовольствие смотреть и слушать столь умного, талантливого, благородного человека... Красавец какой! Чувство, что он именно с тобой и беседует, именно тебе и рассказывает, как старый добрый друг. Так по-отечески, по-доброму, по-родному... Хотела только пять минут посмотреть, а остальное - вечером, как от дел освобожусь, но нет.... Разве тут прервёшься? На "потом" отставить невозможно. А "Казачка" - это шедевр, НО!!!! Я могу её слушать только лишь в исполнении Леонида Михайловича. После него исполнять эту вещь сравнимо с творческим суицидом. Мне бы лично, выступай я на сцене, совесть не позволила. Это безраздельно ЕГО ПЕСНЯ!

Driving is scary when we don't understand and first learn - Lots of steps, like your Father wasn't just an amazing singer immediately - I'm sure he put in some huge hours of practise. To film isn't so hard - You find a point on the Mountain not too far from an edge that can be flown past, then wait for a phone call saying we're about to jump :D My Wife (In Moscow) does the same.
