You did a great job giving us the facts. You made a reasons to buy video and a reasons not to buy video. Love the respect for others opinions and preferences! Happy Ark Day!
The optimization issues can mostly be fixed by turning off volumetric clouds. the amount of FPS gain from doing that is just ridiculous and it doesn't even get rid of the background clouds so there's still some there. I don't know why they added the volumetric clouds if they knew they performance of them would be this bad. When I mean massive it's a 20-50 FPS hit for me (based on area) for them to be enabled (which they are by default.)
@@_Daio_ No, I don't agree. I understand what they are doing. You don't have to like it but, they are making the game graphically intense on purpose with the understanding techonlogy will eventually catch up. That way they will have 10 years or so of being graphically acceptable for the times and never have to overhaul the graphics for this game ever again. 4090s will be considered old and obsolete in a few years, and people will be saying get 6090 it will run like butter.
@@_Daio_ To make matters worse it seems that DLSS is the cause of a lot of game crashes for ASA or so I've heard. I haven't had any since I disabled mine yet.
@@ReadR00ster1 I understand that. I'm 53, and I've lost count of how many times I've built a high-end rig for someone and had to explain that very same thing. Game developers have been implementing higher graphic option settings intended for graphics cards of the future for 20 years, but this is not that, and those settings are 99% In the ultra settings, and certainly not turned on by default. Nobody should expect to play the latest graphically intense games at their maximum settings just because they have the very latest and best Gfx card, but everybody should expect to be able to play them on high settings, or mostly high settings at least at 2k and below.
I think the biggest reason not to buy it is companies will keep doing what they get $$$ for. If you spend money on anything with a company you tell them “hey regardless of what you’re doing as a business I like your product/service enough to give you a pass on bad ethical behaviors you do.” Wildcard and snails broken promises, not fixing legacy issues meshing etc, and how they treat their fan base ie Island boy’s situation.
As a gamer I will say that the gaming community deserve what they get. Companies like Wildcard/Snail and RUclipsrs who play/shill their games should be blacklisted by gamers but it won't happen... so it won't change. I've been lied for 8 years and I won't support Wildcard and Snail anymore like I did with EA and Activision/Blizzard. I won't give my money to companies who don't respect their customers. I'm not their bitch.
@@overheatedeskim054 Of course it was a big YES and Wildcard knew it before they even ask. People don't vote with their head, they vote with their feelings and then bitch about.
as a single player experience (and having played hundreds of hours and never fully beaten ASE) I am fully enjoying ASA and intend to play all the maps to the fullest. My laptop cannot handle the updated graphics, but I am still fully enjoying the slight differences (newb peninsula is fully changed) and baby dino tames, and. I had picked up ASE after extinction dropped, so I never got to play the island with only the base dinos and tech. It is refreshing to try my hand at the island with none of the extra things added to make it trivial. I plan on beating each map with only the base of what is expected on each map, and this gives me a chance to experience that the way it was intended.
I was there at the first days of ASE early access on Xbox. The grind was real, and taming was atrocious. We had to fingure out the taming kibble tree that required players to tame almost every dino to make the right kibble. I played ASE so much i had the kibble tree memorized. Fun memories, it was a challenging game for the first year or two. I kinda miss it. Cant wait to suffer through all the console optimization again😅
Jesus christ ye the kibble tree was awful at first. I remember I stopped playing for a while and when I came back cryo pods where a thing and that was massive too.
The fact that at one point this was going to be a free update is utterly insane to me, I still find it hard to believe that they're bringing all of the DLC maps over with no changes to pricing. I think a lot of drama could've been avoided had there been more substantial previews and teases, because the drip feed in-between the shut down of the ASE servers and its very sudden feeling release has definitely generated a lot of tension, and certainly made it feel like a grift until it was clear that it wasn't. All that said though, as someone who's always been attuned to the PVE side of ASE, the build system overhaul was 100% enough of a selling point, it's done things even S+ couldn't/didn't (and could but now fully vanilla).
Can I add one thing that you missed regarding ark 2 and ASA..... ASA was made to give the original game a longer life so it can continue to be played along side ark 2... Wildcard have already said ark 2 will not be for everyone and different to the original game
What i find funny is that you morons believe ark 2 will be releasing in 2024 lmao, do you guys not understand the purpose of ASA? I GUARANTEE ark 2 won't come out until AT LEAST 2 years from now
@@thermalcashew2858 I know but if it's for people that are not aware of the information, it sounded as if ASA was going to get dropped when Ark2 comes about which is not their intention.
@zoeholdaway4556 I guess I missed that part in his video. I hope ark 2 won't be that bad. I mich prefer the original. So long as ASA does the original justice I am happy 😊
Thank you for being honest and showing both sides of the story, especially when many of your audience are ASA fans and may dislike the video for saying something negative about it. I, for one, haven't bought ASA (yet), me and my friends have years worth of mutated dinos and stuff we have collected, all of which are reset in ASA...secondly like you say, it's just vanilla without all the great maps that have been added over the years. This meant a lot to us...I really love the look of the new map and building system, but we need more for us. Third is using Nitrado dedicated servers or our equipment to host servers now. I thought Nitrado customer service was lacking in the past, and I don't want to use them again...This deal also allows Nitrado to charge what it likes and offer whatever customer service it chooses. It's great for business, but it could be better for players. So, I'm gonna stick to my principles and continue with ASE.
Everyone HAS to understand that this "new game" IS ARK survival evolved. This is by no means a new game, this is not a remaster. This is the same exact game with the same exact source code with couple of mods slapped into it. All the new visuals are thanks to the engine, not the game. This is a scam, not a game.
You nailed it, reskined a few items, added some quality of life improvements, added mods as permanent features. Left all the old bugs in and re sold it for a stupidly high price. Eveything they have done could have just been an update to ase... But they couldn't charge us for it. Soo say it's a new game and presto, more revenue 😂
@@Learn_Daily Oh yeah me too. I always preferred private servers / solo anyways. The official servers are a joke. It's a great game, but the publisher snailgames simply poisons everything.
@@aev6075 it's a real shame. I think it all goes downhill when the art takes a backseat to profit. Passion is the best motivation, when the passion goes so does the quality.
I'm playing in Single Player because I have 1700 hours in Evolved and loved the new look, but I refuse to remove my negative review of the game until they rein in Nitrado's price gouging and a bunch of the issues around that monopoly, which they won't.
All valid reasons. Every one of them. I agree 100% with them. The differences in the game they've made are certainly more QoL than they are new mechanics. They really need to roll back on the cryopod thing. Once players start doing serious breeding on official servers, they will change their tunes on it. Having dino caps for each tribe out in the world on official servers is going to force their hand on the cryopod thing.
Other companies upgrade to UE5 for free, this game is STILL early access and they release paid DLC and now this. They will not get any more of my money other than my original purchase. We need to stop supporting these practices to change the industry for the better.
I love going through the harder way, It keeps things calm and raiding is much more fun when there is a limit to how much you can grind out. To me it is what ARK was all about the primitive style with just enough knowledge for basic weapons. I did play a Ton of Atlas also, and several other games like WoW and even Runescape had great success comming out with older versions of their games so going forward with ARK is nice imo.
Don't forget that this remake came out only because a certain Chinese studio owner decided to lose hundreds of millions of dollars by taking profits from ARK and "investing" it in a plain stup!d EV company.
@@mastermind4499 Yeah, true that, did actually not know that, but searched it up thanks to your comment. Large scale corruption, not only in the state, needs to entail capital punishment. Powerful people bully and rob normal people on a daily basis. It needs to stop ASAP, no matter what needs to be done to make it so. That's my two cents on such issues anyway. Or there needs to be consequences that are crippeling enough to make it impossible to get more than once for such behaviur at the very least. Anyway, thanks for the info brother, have a great day as well as days after this one. 😁
@@djingiskhan4581 I agree. I only wish that there were less hamsters that buy ASA. To me, actions like this should be unforgivable. Unless people start doing something instead of just happily gulping crap like this we will be treated like mindless dodos
I got a 4090 and I'm still crashing due to dx12 errors, devs just need to patch the game before its playable. Also from my understanding Ark 2 will be a 3rd person game focused more on fighting and not dino taming... It's a completely different game with the IP of ARK....
Yeah it seems like Ark 2 isn't really something that would dissuade someone from buying this because it's not the same game. I'm getting crashes also on my 4070 TI. They are pretty infrequent, but they still happen.
You know Teach, all that flying around you did I saw less than a dozen dinos. I heard that was one of the other problems of spawns lacking. And like you said that this is more like "Original Ark" where there was only 1 map and the grind for everything was rough. The main problem I remember from Island in the very beginning was that dino spawns were tied to fish spawns. What I mean is that more fish spawns in the river kept the dino spawns low. What we would have to do was run all the rivers with a giga and kill all the fish to get dinos to spawn. However I think in ASA there may be more to this spawn problem.
It was a problem I had same issue they did a patch that said fixed a issue with both server and single player dino spawns and I started a new map yesterday and it is loaded with dinos.
Nah to call this game a re-skin is an understatement. It looks so much better than the old. Trees, water, plants, bushes, rocks, mountains, even the building material (wood, stone, metal) looks COMPLETELY different from the old, Way better. night and day difference
the re-skin part is a crazy understatement the amount of changes into dinos AI building and just generally most of the game was changed in how it plays.
Another big issue I have is that not only do we have to pay for the game again, which I’m ok with for the reskin and running better on ps5/xbx, but we have to rebuy all the dlc that we’ve already paid for. We don’t get a discount or anything. Just pay another 200 or whatever it ends up being for the game and all the dlc for stuff we’ve played and owned already for years.
@@connormerrick6623 unless they changed their minds again it doesn’t. Only 2 more maps come free I believe and after that it’s all paid dlc again. At the very very beginning I think they said Ark 3 and all the dlc came with it and then they changed their kid s and were like just kidding! You have to pay for it all again.
ye the "paying for a reskin of the original" is more than enough for me. I played my share of games and the ones that matter, to me at least, their remaster version came free because they care for their community, Ark teams don't, they only care to empty your wallets. They even considered at some point microtransactions to sell skins for the items, luckly they didn't went forward with that but the thought alone tells everyone how they are, GREEDY.
I am not comfortable calling this game a reskin because there are a lot of drastic changes not including improved graphics. It's a whole new UI. The drops are very different. The terrain has been changed a lot. The building system is much different. The Engrams have been changed a lot. Many engrams have been combined or flat out removed or added into the game. There are baby dinos roaming around the world, and there are new berries when you harvest. At the core it's the same game but it feels very different.
Technically speaking, you do have a leg up on the old game through the myriad mods that they didn't have back then. If they ever support the "berry sickle", I strongly recommend you snatch that up right quick. It is awesome. It also picks up sticks and stones at a really good pace like the berries. I wonder if they will finally give scorched earth it's ascension bit.
You missed a HUGE point. You basically said that this is reskinned place saver until Ark 2 comes out. That's not the case at all. They've been very clear that Ark 2 will be so vastly different that they know many of the loyal fans of the game will hate it. Ascended was meant to be an alternative to Ark 2. It's a way for people who love the game to continue playing the game they love with greatly improved building mechanics, AI pathing, better graphics, improved UI, tons of QoL improvements. It gives console players the opportunity to use mods we've never had access to. It allows full cross platform play that was never available in ASE. Yes, they have a bunch of kinks to work out still, but saying it's simply a reskin is not accurate at all. It's not a reskin of an old game, it's a completely redesigned game with a familiar feel.
100000%, NOT WORTH IT!!! I got 7000+ hours on ASE, this game was told it was a free upgrade, yet they put in on steam for $50, then gotta buy the dlc's, which was also supposed to be free. In the game, the cryopod system is back. Don't even get me started on how many times it takes to get into an official server without it crashing or "losing connection to host" DO NOT BUY!!! TOXIC COMPANY, DONT CARE ABOUT THE PLAYERS ONLY MONEY.
I disagree with one of your points that its mostly the same game. I'm an Ark builder with 8k hrs of mostly building under my belt. I did primarily use S+ for building but the tricks I developed for building used issues with the orig system ended up getting "fixed" with the building overhaul. Some people used to complain about the "ceiling gaps" when building (if you've done enough building in Ark you will know what I mean) but I used them as "dual snap" points that allowed some neat things to happen (like crenelations ie doorframes and railings overlapped). Sadly I can no longer do this. Nor can I sink boxes into the floor by a half wall (because it no longer is half a wall and doesn't allow ceiling snaps. tho maybe that snap was S+). Its prob a cleaner system for the majority of players but its def a downer for me.
@Teachers Game Too During the beginning of your video I agree with most about being the same but the dino's have been tuned down. I remember if I encountered a Raptor I would have not survived running away. Raptor would have just pounced on me and I would have been dead. The AI with dino's has been tuned down as well. Too many things to list on this subject but I am sure you will get the gist of what I am speaking about.
A reason why you WOULD want to by this game is because there is a good chance if you liked ARK 1 you wont like ARK 2 as the direction for the game in ARK 2 will be a lot closer to Conan exiles rather then ark, the gameplay will be very very different, and its one of the reasons they are remaking ark is because they know already a lot of people wont be happy with 2. Also long term ASA will be updated with all maps and DLC's added for free on the base purchase of the game, bugs will be fixed and QOL changed will be implemented performance will improve. I do not play the game YET but have bought it to play when things get flushed out and things are smoother.
I respect the relatively unbiased take a lot are either super critical or super lenient. The reality is it's got a handful of giant glaring issues but for certain people it just won't matter because it is fun
well casual gamers (that has ULTRA MOTHER BOARD 9000) would just wait until the game gets more polish but sweaty stinky gamers (that has ULTRA MOTHER BOARD 9000) like me dont care we just wanna play ARK
They needed the money and I’m willing to sacrifice a few bucks to help support them cause I’m really excited for ark 2. I really think through time asa will be a really enjoyable experience. The fact that they are updating so frequently is annoying but it also shows promise
yeah what an amazing job of giving it all straight to us. best video ive watched explaining the new ascended ark. i was making a video on it as well about some of this stuff and id say i have a pretty high performance rig and still couldnt handle recording the game without crashing. yk $1300 4070ti 12gb gpu and the rest of my pc bringing the total to $2500. i absolutely love the revamp of the old game, but have to give up quite a bit of of my quality still just to play at a decent framerate. played evolved just fine at 2k res and MAX settings(80-90fps) NP, but i cant even play ascended at 2k low or even 1080p high. so its just that anyone with a low to high tier Gaming Pc will have to give up a lot of that newly Given Quality of ark life as of where the game Stands now.
2 things 1. Saying "dont buy Asa because Ark 2 will release next year" is crazy because wildcard has said many times that it wont be the same type of survival game as Asa is it will be more souls like and narrative driven 2. You can have servers without Nitrado they announced that deal was scrapped like last week
I think the major thing for people who love ASE to consider is the back to beginning features. So much of the quality of life is done in tames. Even major things like Pokeballs. Cryopods changed the game so much for PVP and PVE. I know you can get a mod. However for the tames you need to use the console commands. If you are new and want to experiance the story as we did back in 2015 and slowly as the DLC maps are dropped. Go for it. If an old player and still want all the features stick with ASE. ASA will get performance improvements. As ASE did. My biggest shout out for buy this now is that. (As of right now) All DLC drops will be free. So in the end when we get everything on par with ASE. ASA would of be cheaper in the long run. However we know that wildcard has said stuff will be free in the past and that changed.
I love ark too but why i should buy a broken EA tittel that have the same issues as the old ones with better grafik and a shitty Monopol server issue ??? So i stay on Ase and i have my mods and all that. I pay 10 bucks not more for that Ea titel maybe it is fixt that they promised then its worth 50
No the main dlc maps will be added over time for free from my understanding however they are adding a brand new story map dlc sometime during the holiday season(if it doesn’t get delayed) the new dlc I believe you have to pay for.
Honestly if I had the time and money I would search up the legalities of releasing a Remaster version of a game I early access. Kind of a quality control aspect that the game devs could simple refuse to officially release the game. Atlas is still in early access and this would confirm my theory of them simply denying or even stop supporting an early access game making a very unfair and unsatisfying to the customer that had paid money for the early access of a game that is technically released, but could be deleted at a wimb.
I think with both optimisation and the fact that they didn't give enough time to let people upgrade their rigs is one of the core things I recommend people NOT to buy ASA. If anything unless your a hardcore fan I'd suggest waiting at least 3 months for them to roll out performance patches (and release additional content DLC as I believe the next maps are coming in December) and potentially have enough funds to upgrade your PC to run ASA. I'm currently using just below average specs with a 2070 Super and just manage 30-40 FPS on medium or 60 FPS on low. Even then I'll be trying to upgrade as soon as I can.
You don't need to upgrade. I run it just fine with a mixture of settings and don't sacrifice overall beauty of the game with a 107ti. There are some surprising changes you can do that can actually help a ton. Turning off volumetric clouds helped a tooooon for starts.
I think the game is improved enough and I like it eventhough I have to turn off clouds and and play on mostly low settings at 40 fps. It still looks better than ASE which also is a very laggy game for me that I can't run on epic settings either.
The biggest issue for me is the number of times my game has crashed, I have about 5 hours on the game and I have crashed more times than I can count. Another personal issue for me is over the summer I built my first PC, and I thought a 3060 would be would be enough to run this game on high settings. I have to run it on medium/low settings just to get adequate frames, even still, the game crashes. I love the game, it looks beautiful, but these crashes are really frustrating.
Reason 10: ASA dropped Survival Plus and didn't remake it to be better. Instead, they left the assets for mod use, but monetize it, whereas in ASE, Primitive Plus was a free expansion.
calling it now and have always called it... Ark 2, will be a single player Co-op multiplayer game. its not going to be like our current ark. anytime a game has a main char. its single player with miltiplayer co-op/online match making.
Pretty much everything you listed is at worst tolerable and at best negligible for me. That is just me and I understand that those things are a tripping point for others. The only thing that I don't like is the Nitrado hosting changes. Making 20 slots the minimum is ridiculous for many of us who previously rented servers just for a small group of friends (under 10). We now have to pay for one server, almost what we paid for two.
It's not 100% identical to Survival Evolved. The map is recreated, seemingly from memory. It's not the exact same. I've tried making bases in many of my old spots and found the geography to be completely different. Same goes for Scorched Earth, now that it's out. Not to mention tons of extra foliage (I don't just mean grass, but an overabundance of trees and bushes EVERYwhere).
Imagine beta testing a game that is 8 years old. That is exactly what this release feels like. I play on a private server and the server crashes or the client crashes multiple times.
The game looks so much better now to me! Somehow I can play at 1080p 30 fps for the most part with a 1080Ti and an I7 6700k so that's not terrible. The performance is all over the place, anywhere between 20 and 60 fps randomly. When the first ARK came out it was basically the same for me and I had to upgrade for it lol. To be fair, calling it only a reskin is a bit reductive. More like skin and bones. The meat of it is the same, but with a stronger framework to support the bulk now building those muscles makes more sense. If this was a mod but you had to buy for $40 people would probably think it's the best thing ever. Not having official servers for the old version though, maybe not the best idea.
I have two reasons to buy asa: 1. I like ark and I wanted asa. 2. I'm employed so Im not going to pretend like the cost of the game itself is debilitating like so many other people are. The Nitrado deal is the major negative around this game
I own my own server hardware, and run over 50 mods on a dedicated cluster server. I will be sticking with that for a while. I have graphics turn mostly to epic settings and still seem to run better then what i have seen on videos. With modded maps,Modded Dino's, S+, castles and keeps. For me it just feels better. Oh, and that is with an ATI - 470 with 8g GPU. I get lag when i fly fast and enter caves. but that is it.
If you can't critic the things you love and accept its flaws, then you're blinded by fanboyism. It's good with a video where you can say what you don't like or what others wouldn't like about the game you love. That being said the game is not simply a reskin. They rewrote the entire code. That includes remaking the entire island, which is also why the other expansions are taking so long to be released. They are remaking it all. Not just reskinning it. The outside world looking in that would be what it looks like though. But it's far more than that. There are places on the map I don't even recognize when I come through a thick jungle area. Water is not the same either. Jesse always wanted that beachy feel where the water goes up the shore, and around things as they enter or surface in the water. Side note. ARK 2 is 100% not going to release next year. Even a diehard ARK fan like me knows that's just not possible. Second note. The server hosting DRM was removed and anyone can host now. This was put up 7 hours ago but that has been removed for almost a week, teacher. Third note. Come on, bro.... They rolled back the servers where people cheated X_x You should honestly take down this video and redo it. These reasons are getting ridiculous and untrue.
If I recall correctly they did say they were eventually going to add 2 new expansions to the game and a community voted Dino each map I think, I'm getting it anyway because ark survival evolved on my ps5 the PS4 version, stutters every 5 steps I take sometimes if I'm remembering it correctly and that was on single player, I was up north on island, it wasn't like that to begin with either, to be fair tho I had a fair bit of Dino's so that's probably it lol, so the ps5 version for me will be a nice upgrade, it's definitely far better than the PS4 version, been a long time since I played ark but I really loved it so I'm quite excited for the ps5 version, my most recent survival game tho was Conan exiles, wish they'd do a ps5 version for that too tbh, anyway great vid 👍
There’s no offence to anyone but I personally think I’m the biggest ASE fan out there, since it was preview on Xbox I was totally hooked from day one, I’ve never missed a day playing ark but there was no way I’m paying for a reskin of the original maps, I still play on private servers and it’s ok, but I mean just ok. It hurts not to be playing properly I so want to be playing ASA but for me, not until it gets to game pass. HH guys.
A good analogy would be flagship cell phone more specifically the IPhone, they release a new one half way through the life cycle of the current phone and call it a new phone when it is basically it's just the same one with a couple of changes.
Is this video up to date because the Nitrado exclusive is no longer a thing and wildcard wiped servers after the godmode incident if your gonna give information please give correct information
@@janitor8884 Nitrado does not have (and never had) server exclusivity. They do have commercial exclusivity however, but that is a whole different story. I agree that it still sucks, but it "only" blocks providers like GPortal to offer managed servers and blocks you from earning money with your self-hosted servers. "Who wants to run there pc 24/7 to host a server?" That is not how to self-host properly. Just rent a dedicated/virtual server and install ASA. Done. Works just like in ASE.
There are ways to tweak the settings to run pretty awesome without 3080s etc. I play it on a 1070ti Was very disappointed they claimed they were redoing the entire island map but then it was just tiny tweaks and overall nothing new at all really to the main design. The new bugs that never existed before or not nearly as bad are genuinely horrific. The UI getting stuck, unable to use a scroll wheel after you already have to pickup structures or change settings on your dinos. Baby dinos can drop under the map if you pick them up with a dino before riding them and the only fix is having them follow to a water source so they can swim out and then promptly restart the server to get it fixed... Ultimately pretty sad they also said SE would be available at release and it isn't.
I have a 3800x with a rtx 3070. Will I be able to play this? Also hows the community? I tried to play ASE again about 8 months ago and unofficial was dead, I dont want to buy it just to join a server with 5/70 players. Thanks to any1 who responds
I don't agree at all with almost every points made in this video, i will explain why for each reasons he talked about: Reason 1: I will agree that if you don't at least own a rtx gpu (any of them) then i wouldn't advise to buy this game but otherwise any rtx will do the job, i play with a rtx 2060 on medium/low 1080p settings and have 40-60 fps with no big issues and my friend with a 4070 ti is playing at full epic on 1440p with 60fps+ Reason 2: "it's just a reskin" not at all ! Some dinos got tlc's, the whole building mechanic got changed, wild baby dinos, drops, the whole graphics are upgraded, some really annoying bugged got fixed like the reload one or the hitbox of almost all dinos are better,.... Reason 3: "Not worth buying because ark 2 in coming out end of 2024" still not a reason to not buy it and they said ark 2 wont be the same feel as ark survival evolved so if you want the same gameplay then asa is the best choice Reason 4: "Lack of contents" the game just came out and they did change stuff so it's not really true, mods are available for everyone now so that's also extra content, just let them release other maps and you will see Reason 5: Nitrado having the monopoly on server hosting is bad and i do agree with this one, i personnaly host my own servers so this isn't a big issue for me but it still is bad that they are the only one able to host asa servers Reason 6: "Official servers are broken" honestly i always said it on ase and will say it here: Please stop playing official servers it isn't worth your time ! Just host your own server or singleplayer with your own rates or go on unofficial it so much more fun to play the game like that than official !!! Reason 7: "It's early access" For this one i can understand if some people don't like it because like you said they can do whatever they want with it and i already did play a game that was in early access and that did put it out of it but it was completly unfinished (and still is to this day sadly) so i agree with you but i do trust the devs on this one Reason 8: I don't understand the problem with this one, if they do updates everyday for optimisation then that's good ? You don't want the game to be optimised then ?? Reason 9: I don't understand you on this, why did YOU buy the game and even says that you recommand it but at the same time you don't think it's worth the 40 dollars and it's just a reskin ? Please try to make sense with what you are even saying because right now it doesn't, or you think it's worth the money or it doesn't no in between. I don't really understand the point even of this video it seem that you are undecide on what you think about the game, anyway that's all i have to say have a nice day !
Asa is a beta for Ark 2. They wanna see how everyone likes the “new” changes. And then tweak what they need to for Ark 2 which I think will be a 2025-2036 release.
My computer runs ASA fine and I don’t have a 30 90, I experience very little game crashes maybe 10 in 200 hours of gameplay if that, frame rate gets a little laggy sometimes mostly in big fight sequences, the game runs fine if your comparing it to ASE standards.
So, they've released a roadmap, Ark 2 isn't coming next year. I've never played ASE because of the terrible animations in 3rd person which has been mostly fixed in this game I see, so it would be a new experience for me. I can get passed all the things you've mentioned, however, I am still on the fence because most reviews on steam mention frequent crashes and progress loss. How many of you have experienced it too? Cuz that's a true deal breaker for me.
I love the game too. Had to upgrade my gpu cause it couldn’t run smooth. Went from min-spec 1080 to a 4080 now the game runs smooth and is visually pleasing. But not every one can do that. It’s not for everyone but it is my fav game in spite of all the bugs and issues. ❤
I bought the game and am currently playing it and having fun with my friends. IMO if you don't have a super rig to play on probably dont buy the game. Keep in mind that my rig is 6 years old and I am playing on medium settings and the game still looks incredible but obviously the rendering can be a issue at times. Also keep in mind that this is built on the Unreal 5 engine so there's gonna be alot of work being done to it but this game isn't exactly just a reskin of the original. As far as grind in single player as well as on servers there is the option to increase experience, farming material and cut taming time so people can adjust according to how much time they have to play. I would rather play this while waiting for Ark II then just play the original Ark. Don't get me wrong, if this turns into another Atlas fiasco I will bitch up a storm but at the moment its worth a try. If you don't like it demand a refund from steam.
If Ark 2 comes out in 2024 I'll make a video of me eating my own 💩. If I had any faith or trust In the developers/publishers I'd happily drop more than twice the cost of this garbage to help crowdfund Ark 2. Ark Is dead, and this is nothing more than a money grab.
Making a new game is hard. I think the devs tried and failed to make ark 2. So they side stepped into this "remake" Which makes me unwilling to support this studio. They've ignored the community for 10 years. They've ignored the bugs in their own game for 10 years. Why now would they fix it? Even in remaking the game they choose to make it more graphically intense rather than optimizing game play. As if graphics are so important. They're not, but they could make a substantial amount of money re releasing the old game with new graphics. I mean how hard is it to just reskin a game, vs recode it to run better. They could've remade the game on ue5 and not made it so cpu heavy that only 5% of the player base will be able to play it on "normal" graphic settings. It's maddening. The graphics were fine. They never needed this overhaul. And for those who bought this, I'm sorry. Even if you "love it" I know you love the idea of it. It's so close to being the game you want that you'll accept it no matter what. And I'm sorry that you love a game which the developers love less than you. I'm sorry you got scammed and paid another 50 bucks. On top of the 100 plus you spent on the old game and all its maps and bugs. This studio will get no support from me. Over 1500 hours of play time, and not once have they addressed a single issue that ever affected me. But somehow there's always a new map, or new dinos? Trash.
I've been playing Early Access games for about 10 years and one thing I've learned is that EA should be taken seriously. Regular game releases are risky enough but Early Access is almost guaranteed troubles. I'm fine with the risk but I don't think the majority of people are. EA = unfinished game
I am totally new to any Ark and having a ball just enjoying the game and the journey with no mods. The graphics are pretty and it gets exciting trying to tame etc. I love it and hearing there will be an Ark 2 I look forward to that.
For me someone with 10k hours in Ark the idea of starting fresh is so exciting for me meks and most end game content killed the game and just made everything to OP most stuff made your life easier but I prefer this and with the console release around the corner it will be fun to start from nothing and work your way to alpha they also removed movement speed so combat should be a lot easier for most
I bought it because me and my husband met on ark survival, and we just feel it was a given to upgrade, neither of us have a new graphics card, I have a 2060 and i believe his is even lower, i can only run on medium at 20-30 fps, So i opted to play through geforce now, and its been great! I do have to reinstall mods everytime, but really its the equivalent to loading them in in the survival evolved version, and still actually faster. either way im having a blast with it.
I don't know why ppl are pitching a fit about ASA, many other games have done the same thing when porting a game to a new engine, i mean apple pretty much does the same thing as well with every new iPhone release yet they still fly out the door, so to say "don't buy this because blank" is asinine. The only point however I did agree with you on was the nitrado exclusivity garbage, but WC did at least give us the ability to once again host actual unofficial servers, also I don't get why people say "oh it's only good if you have an rtx 3090" albeit that is true a lot of newer games coming out are leaning towards the newer graphics cards, it's the nature of the beast. Lastly, yes all we get is an island that we have to "grind on" but unlike ASE we have more QoL features in this game vs the bare bones experience then those of us had with the release of ASE to make the grind in ASA much less painful.
I updated Intime for Starfield, not just for Starfield as I needed to anyway, but Starfield hurried me along. I paid 3+k with the largest expense being a 4080, and that's UK pounds, not US dollars, but I'll be fkd If I paid all that to play this janky 💩 like I'm playing on a potato.
Building, building, building. From what I've seen, the changes in building alone make it worth it for me. Gone are the days of rendering cables on official and water pipes into the sky 😆
While I agree with a lot, quite a few of these points aren’t accurate. There are many new features, even as a reskin And official servers were reset after the god mode admin cheat
I still think one of the two games will be basically abandoned. Either Ark 2 or Ark ascended. It would be almost impossible to develop both games simultaneously and have any kind of quality.
Because of official servers that we love to play against other players, and ARK II will be a souls like game, which a lot of people are not going to like.
Your missing one very likely outcome of the early release format has needed up as last time. It became the legacy series because it was so broken and compromised with things as they perfected the same thing they’re doing now. So for tribes hoping to establish and carry on you very likely could be just wiki g on a server you will never be able to carry your progress into the next maps if they legacy it like last time. You’ll know by the time ab drops if that’s gonna happen.
You did a great job giving us the facts. You made a reasons to buy video and a reasons not to buy video. Love the respect for others opinions and preferences! Happy Ark Day!
3:30 "arc 2 is gonna come out next year" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The optimization issues can mostly be fixed by turning off volumetric clouds. the amount of FPS gain from doing that is just ridiculous and it doesn't even get rid of the background clouds so there's still some there. I don't know why they added the volumetric clouds if they knew they performance of them would be this bad. When I mean massive it's a 20-50 FPS hit for me (based on area) for them to be enabled (which they are by default.)
@AsreiMurasame, I could understand that If you had a 3060ti or even a 3070, but needing to turn stuff off with a 3090ti or even a 4090 Is a joke.
@@ReadR00ster1still there are games 10x better in graphics and run 10 times better i have a 4070ti and cant hit 60 in epic...
You'll put effort in like that over games whilst being a complete slave to government, that tickled me 😂 remind how many million took vaccine 😂😂😂😂😂
well to be fair they asked the community directly if they would buy Ark 1 if it was ported to UE5 and it was overwhelmingly yes

Thank you for the comment!
as a single player experience (and having played hundreds of hours and never fully beaten ASE) I am fully enjoying ASA and intend to play all the maps to the fullest.
I have hundreds of days sucked into ASE lol
Fair comments - enjoy the game, for me (with 7,728 hours of ASE) I need to wait for a more complete game
As an unreal developer, It's hilarious that they're charging money for this. Evolved owners should get this for free.
Same here💪😉
Same here!
I tried to get back into ark on the PC, but it just didn't feel the same
Jesus christ ye the kibble tree was awful at first.
I don't need 9 reasons why not to buy I'll give you just one snail
One for me too, Im not stupid enough to buy a game I already own
@@Kit-yv7obI mean it's mostly for people who care about awesome graphics.
Honestly, I'm one of them. Hehe
Can I add one thing that you missed regarding ark 2 and ASA..... ASA was made to give the original game a longer life so it can continue to be played along side ark 2... Wildcard have already said ark 2 will not be for everyone and different to the original game
I fully agree with you and that's a reason I intend to buy it. But this video is reasons not to buy this game lol.
Souls like yeah this guy isn't very informed
I appreciate how you like the game but still have the honest take on it and acknowledge the problems it currently has.
Love it
Thank you for being honest and showing both sides of the story, especially when many of your audience are ASA fans and may dislike the video for saying something negative about it.
I'd have to respectfully disagree with you. Early access or not, Wildcard owes me the game I paid for.
@@JKal19 This is the same game that we have already paid for?
@@Learn_Daily If I remember correctly, this engine flip was supposed to be free, but then they smelled money.
@@aev6075 A common tactic these days unfortunately. I'm just going to keep play ASE. Still lots of fun to be had.
I did play a Ton of Atlas also, and several other games like WoW and even Runescape had great success comming out with older versions of their games so going forward with ARK is nice imo.
that's not what Ark is about tho your thrown into that environment but the world you come from is not primitive.
Don't forget that this remake came out only because a certain Chinese studio owner decided to lose hundreds of millions of dollars by taking profits from ARK and "investing" it in a plain stup!d EV company.
Also don't forget that they said before that ASE owners will get this remake for free... So f**k them twice.

Large scale corruption, not only in the state, needs to entail capital punishment. Powerful people bully and rob normal people on a daily basis. It needs to stop ASAP, no matter what needs to be done to make it so. That's my two cents on such issues anyway.

As a non-Ark player, paying 40 bucks for this felt like I got my money's worth.
I agree. I played evolved with my brother for a while and bought ascended for ps5. My wife and i are having a great time.
There will probably come a mod that fixes this
There’s been several fixes for spawns
It was a problem I had same issue they did a patch that said fixed a issue with both server and single player dino spawns and I started a new map yesterday and it is loaded with dinos.

Nah to call this game a re-skin is an understatement. It looks so much better than the old. Trees, water, plants, bushes, rocks, mountains, even the building material (wood, stone, metal) looks COMPLETELY different from the old, Way better. night and day difference
Sooo a reskin..?
the re-skin part is a crazy understatement the amount of changes into dinos AI building and just generally most of the game was changed in how it plays.
Alot of that could be done easily and quickly with mods
sorry but that fits as QoL update
TBH the AI is almost as terrible as it's always been. Not impressed by it.
I would tell you how the QoL thing could have been added to ASE but three people told you that before me so..

I heard they fixed the issue with servers only being hosted by nitrado. Their monopoly is gone. You can host on your own
Other server providers cant host, you have to make your own equipment
Another big issue I have is that not only do we have to pay for the game again, which I’m ok with for the reskin and running better on ps5/xbx, but we have to rebuy all the dlc that we’ve already paid for. We don’t get a discount or anything. Just pay another 200 or whatever it ends up being for the game and all the dlc for stuff we’ve played and owned already for years.
I think they said all dlc comes with the game
They know the fan boys are gonna fan boy
I am not comfortable calling this game a reskin because there are a lot of drastic changes not including improved graphics. It's a whole new UI. The drops are very different. The terrain has been changed a lot. The building system is much different. The Engrams have been changed a lot. Many engrams have been combined or flat out removed or added into the game. There are baby dinos roaming around the world, and there are new berries when you harvest. At the core it's the same game but it feels very different.
Agreed, to me along with the graphics, they added/changed just enough to make it feel like I’m playing ark again for the first time.
It's a reskin. Sorry.
@@Irish1Erichow is it just a reskin? Explain. Do you even know what a reskin is?

Technically speaking, you do have a leg up on the old game through the myriad mods that they didn't have back then. If they ever support the "berry sickle", I strongly recommend you snatch that up right quick. It is awesome. It also picks up sticks and stones at a really good pace like the berries. I wonder if they will finally give scorched earth it's ascension bit.
I'm sure Scorched Already got one ages ago
@LophoLeeVT it didn't. They skipped it, because everyone hated the expansion when it first dropped.
I just want extinction to have a blood moon. Where the corrupted invade the city in a chaotic war with boosted spawned tech. 😢
Berry sickle sounds alot like trike tail whip on bushes
5:37 thats misinformation. my friends got a server running right now, off her own server rack at home.
This game being a reskin is why i got it. The pvp gameplay loop ark has is so unique and fun i’m glad they didn’t overhaul it
It is not even a reskin. The updated graphics are thanks to the engine, not the game so..
Is it just me but i just hate how metal walls looks like? I relly liked how metal lookd like in original ark
How about the greenhouse walls. Someone should get fired for those.
The reskin argument and the ARK 2 argument are just wrong
Can’t believe people are buying this game it’s a game with less dinosaurs but it looks better people are dummy’s
I respect the relatively unbiased take a lot are either super critical or super lenient. The reality is it's got a handful of giant glaring issues but for certain people it just won't matter because it is fun
I just want to know, on console, did they remove the host limited distance?
well casual gamers (that has ULTRA MOTHER BOARD 9000) would just wait until the game gets more polish but sweaty stinky gamers (that has ULTRA MOTHER BOARD 9000) like me dont care we just wanna play ARK
this should be either free or heavily discounted for people who already had Ark as this can be achieved to an extent by mods
True
They needed the money and I’m willing to sacrifice a few bucks to help support them cause I’m really excited for ark 2. I really think through time asa will be a really enjoyable experience. The fact that they are updating so frequently is annoying but it also shows promise
Hey Teach. I am having a hard time setting up my server for me and my buddies. Is there any way you can do a video on set up?
yeah what an amazing job of giving it all straight to us. best video ive watched explaining the new ascended ark. i was making a video on it as well about some of this stuff and id say i have a pretty high performance rig and still couldnt handle recording the game without crashing. yk $1300 4070ti 12gb gpu and the rest of my pc bringing the total to $2500. i absolutely love the revamp of the old game, but have to give up quite a bit of of my quality still just to play at a decent framerate. played evolved just fine at 2k res and MAX settings(80-90fps) NP, but i cant even play ascended at 2k low or even 1080p high. so its just that anyone with a low to high tier Gaming Pc will have to give up a lot of that newly Given Quality of ark life as of where the game Stands now.
2 things
1. Saying "dont buy Asa because Ark 2 will release next year" is crazy because wildcard has said many times that it wont be the same type of survival game as Asa is it will be more souls like and narrative driven
You gotta upgrade lmao. ASA is better
If your true OG you buy it no madder what. Specifically if you play offical

Even then I'll be trying to upgrade as soon as I can.
happy to know theres more people i can't run it but bouta upgrade just for ark
It's nice to see someone looking at the arguments against his own decision. Respect!
Youve actually talked me out of buying it for now.. thank you! Saved me $130! (My wife, son and I all play together)
HH guys.
dude i agree i been playing ark all day everyday since it came out i think the new ark is crap just to much clutter to be even remotely playable
A good analogy would be flagship cell phone more specifically the IPhone, they release a new one half way through the life cycle of the current phone and call it a new phone when it is basically it's just the same one with a couple of changes.
will everyone have access to all the DLC maps when they come out or does everyone need to buy them again?
Is this video up to date because the Nitrado exclusive is no longer a thing and wildcard wiped servers after the godmode incident if your gonna give information please give correct information
@janitor8884 not what I was informed but I only play official so I didn't look into that to deep maybe your right maybe not
@@janitor8884 Nitrado does not have (and never had) server exclusivity.
I play it on a 1070ti
Was very disappointed they claimed they were redoing the entire island map but then it was just tiny tweaks and overall nothing new at all really to the main design.
I am pretty sure I saw ASE on sale for 15 dollars when I bought the game. I mean it was 4 days after release but still.
I have a 3800x with a rtx 3070. Will I be able to play this? Also hows the community? I tried to play ASE again about 8 months ago and unofficial was dead, I dont want to buy it just to join a server with 5/70 players. Thanks to any1 who responds
I don't agree at all with almost every points made in this video, i will explain why for each reasons he talked about:
Reason 1: I will agree that if you don't at least own a rtx gpu (any of them) then i wouldn't advise to buy this game but otherwise any rtx will do the job, i play with a rtx 2060 on medium/low 1080p settings and have 40-60 fps with no big issues and my friend with a 4070 ti is playing at full epic on 1440p with 60fps+
Reason 2: "it's just a reskin" not at all ! Some dinos got tlc's, the whole building mechanic got changed, wild baby dinos, drops, the whole graphics are upgraded, some really annoying bugged got fixed like the reload one or the hitbox of almost all dinos are better,....
Reason 3: "Not worth buying because ark 2 in coming out end of 2024" still not a reason to not buy it and they said ark 2 wont be the same feel as ark survival evolved so if you want the same gameplay then asa is the best choice
Reason 4: "Lack of contents" the game just came out and they did change stuff so it's not really true, mods are available for everyone now so that's also extra content, just let them release other maps and you will see
Reason 5: Nitrado having the monopoly on server hosting is bad and i do agree with this one, i personnaly host my own servers so this isn't a big issue for me but it still is bad that they are the only one able to host asa servers
Reason 6: "Official servers are broken" honestly i always said it on ase and will say it here: Please stop playing official servers it isn't worth your time ! Just host your own server or singleplayer with your own rates or go on unofficial it so much more fun to play the game like that than official !!!
Reason 7: "It's early access" For this one i can understand if some people don't like it because like you said they can do whatever they want with it and i already did play a game that was in early access and that did put it out of it but it was completly unfinished (and still is to this day sadly) so i agree with you but i do trust the devs on this one
Reason 8: I don't understand the problem with this one, if they do updates everyday for optimisation then that's good ?
I kinda like the idea of ark going back to its roots. Bugs and server problems included
How is optimization in xbox?
Cause that, and losing access to my buildings after death, lost my interest to the old version
Making a new game is hard. I think the devs tried and failed to make ark 2. So they side stepped into this "remake"
Which makes me unwilling to support this studio.
EA = unfinished game
The only reason nitrado got the server exclusivity is because they gave a large loan to snail games to bail out their poor finance management
Did they not remove drm from there servers? Is it not literally free now for people to host there own servers?
Let's face it we are all worse than crackheads for this game yea we quit but we end up back at it
I updated Intime for Starfield, not just for Starfield as I needed to anyway, but Starfield hurried me along. I paid 3+k with the largest expense being a 4080, and that's UK pounds, not US dollars, but I'll be fkd If I paid all that to play this janky 💩 like I'm playing on a potato.
The xbox website that advertised the promo video at launch stated
Ark Survival Ascended ( Previously titled Ark2 )
Food for thought
Building, building, building. From what I've seen, the changes in building alone make it worth it for me. Gone are the days of rendering cables on official and water pipes into the sky 😆
While I agree with a lot, quite a few of these points aren’t accurate.
There are many new features, even as a reskin
And official servers were reset after the god mode admin cheat
Thank you for this update. I am hearing the same thing all around
apreciate the honesty especially because you love this game
I still think one of the two games will be basically abandoned. Either Ark 2 or Ark ascended. It would be almost impossible to develop both games simultaneously and have any kind of quality.
7:48 I don’t think it’s about supporting, WC isn’t supporting ASE anymore and basically forced players to switch
