Hmm... as someone that already listens to Gundam a while back and from a guy's perspective, I can understand why she would get salty about what he said in the video. He called her and her income source pretty hard here. But the fact of the matter is, because of how much money she makes doing what she does and not having to do nearly as much (in my opinion) as say Shroud or Ninja or big male streamers to make as much money as she does, she had no good reason to go after his sponsors like that. Really doesn't look good on her. She sits in just chatting a lot and makes a ton of money from it, and well, you're definitely free to be doing that, but a lot of female streamers on Twitch kinda enable the Simp behavior to make that money so they shouldn't be upset about someone saying it as it is. That's my thoughts on it.
Yeah man, I really agree with your words. I mean there are streamers who enable the simps by berating them, obviously show the good stuff, or calling them out for not donating enough money. The other spectrum is that the men are going into a spiral downfall of keeping an internet personality as part of their sexual fantasies for their problematic to traumatizing past. You know horrible relationships, bullying from families and peers, and self-loathing. I just will be here wishing that simps will go out and become bigger men and find the psychological help that they need.
Me n my BF were going back and forth on this as well and he argued that she did "technically" have a reason to. For her it is a business and if she didn't retaliate in some way her simps would take it that she didn't fully care about them and only their wallets (which is the truth of it all). With them making that revelation she could theoretically lose a huge chunk of her base so she went on the offensive under the guise of defending her fans to keep them loyal.
To think of it another way you could look at her as you would EA, she doesn't need to convince everyone she's good, just her loyal fanbase. Long as she keeps that echo chamber going she's always gonna have a big base and pile of wallets to pull from. I could concede to his point but we could both agree she was still being a massive bitch about this.

@@ignis2614 Basically, they're all so desperate for an intimate connection they're going to do any and everything they have. What I find sad is many of them are also already in relationships or full on married, but it's easier to be in love with an image of a person than to be with a real person.

I'm currently in a relationship where my girl has gone through some really dark stuff in her childhood, so much to the point that it's hard for her to hold hands. So I gotta be patient with her and help her grow and love her anyways. For a lot of guys nowadays, they may not be used to putting as much effort into a woman and that simple gratification is all they got.

I disagree, idolizing people is a huge problem and is gross when anyone capitalizes on it to make a bank, because these people need help not someone to obsess over furthermore this behavior can lead to depression and even people turning into stalkers, some even get into one sided relationships and some of them will not take it well when they realize that all the time and money they sank on this person amounted to nothing, just look at what happened to Christina Grimmmies and that was way before that kind of behavior was encouraged and praised.
What you’re describing is obsessing, not idolizing. There is a difference.
@@sab-nm9di what about worshipping a person and besides I will be concerned if someone will idolize someone mostly due to that could evolve into obsession if that phase last long than what other people experience. But simps are mostly men, like men (specifically "man childs") older than me or even the person they are idolizing. So expect that these aware adults would pay cash to see them do a goofy dance is frightening is you let that sink in.

Simps find it a problem, because it ruins their world model.
Also, if there existed a male equivalent of e-girl, with fangirls, they would be very mad, if their favorite "e-boy" hid the fact of having a girlfriend. Sadly, there's no such thing to prove it.
It's kind of a bold claim to make, that it's only towards women, anyway. For example, K-Pop fangirls are really jealous over their favorite members.
Also it's not completely fair to compare sitting in front of camera for hours with stage performance and singing (both in case of K-Pop and J-pop you mention).
In case of idols (male or female), they tend to be expected to be really pure too. Even in golden age of American Idols (and boy bands in particular). Like any romantic interest is prohibited at all, or at least should be well hidden, the whole thing with star hot takes is an entire industry, built around stalking celebrities and finding out their personal relations.
Otherwise your points are mostly fair.
And I despise concepts I mention above. People should do, what they want, if it doesn't hurt anyone.

I don't agree with you. The "simp culture" needs to stop. It's just exploiting loneliness of random people who often have mental ilnessess. They are adults - that's true, but the most extreame ones are just suffering and Poki is milking them until they lose everything from her. And it's her questionable choice to do so (she do not discourage this behaviour nor try to help, she ignores that). Of course she isn't alone in this, but that mean only there is more people willing to do so. And yes you may say - "it's not their fault someone is wishing to give up everything on them" and that would be the truth. But Poki isn't just a random girl on Twitch that accidentaly have simps. Simps are her target audience. She purposfuly makes herself a substitute of love and relationships for them. Is this socially acceptable? Yes, but it shouldn't be. Is it good? No. She isn't in any way helping them. She is like a emocional loan shark. She gives them a beautiful dream but charge real money for it. She, and every person in this buisness is actually manipulative. And thats toxic as hell.
The difference between streamers and K-Pop musicians is huge and compering it is actually missing the point. They don't encourage/interact with their fans the way streamers do. They just do their (really shitty) job and almost die for their (awful) industry. But thats a whole other story. And a whole other problem society will have to face in the future.
But being a simp is gross in itself. Simp really means "nice guy" and we all know how shitty they are. I wouldn't go to the point of calling Pokimane manipulative for her content, people know that paying her is going to be useless for them. It doesn't seem fair to blame her for that, she isn't forcing them to pay her.
the thing is these guys feel entitled to her, which is not her problem, they're not victims.
Women have a right to scam straight white dudes until they're paid the same amount. Period.

And also because yeah uh but I do like em XD
I like BTS (i don't listen to K-pop, only BTS...which is K-pop but whatever hehe) because:
1: The music is good
2: The music does have a meaning, mostly about loving yourself, and they talk about mental illness which most groups don't (groups do have songs about loving yourself and mental illness but only a couple songs, BTS has full ablums titled Love yourself: Her/Tear/Answer) and many people need that. Because it saves lives as well.
3: I first liked them because they had good music that it had a meaningful meanings. And when i thought about fully stanning them/being a full fan, a couple weeks later from that, i was planning on self harming again to just end it and i was stopped because i remembered their words. I listened to there music and it stopped me.
So they are meaningful to me because they did kinda save my life.

as a bts stan, yes, you havea point,, most of those who follow/listen to bts (or kpop, in general) are people who finds deep connection within the meaning of the lyrics of the songs,, people have different preferences, some may listen to them because they could relate to what they say, some may listen simply because they enjoy the music. and that is acceptably okay.
simping im pretty sure hurts the simp too, both financially and emotionally, hence why they can/are be viewed as kinda creepy at times in regards to their behaviour.
probably takes a mental toll on the streamer too, like their [simps+streamer] worldviews get twisted into oblivion with no sign of return.

My opinion on all of this... We should let these girls do what they want. They are getting their coin and doing nothing illigal. It's no one's problem if some desperate people give them money for their attention.
HOWEVER I think what she did is VERY bad... Pretty imoral honestly... I guess it could be seen as harassment? Honestly worse than what he did. He was mean, sure but it didn't even affected her....
