Watching from Australia. I had such a moment of ‘ PHEW!’

Yes. Now we can move forward with charges of murder for a president's extrajudicial assassination of 16 year old American citizen, Abdulrahman al-Awlaki. PHEW indeed.

What's stopping Trump from using a back-channel to communicate with the Supreme Court, especially the justices he appointed?

They have argued for criminal immunity. If he hadn"t committed crime why would they ever need it? Can this not be put at trial in evidence? I mean, it's a confession.

As i understand it, immunity here would grant immunity to bring tried at all, since having a trial with a pre-determined outcome is not only pointless, but a violation of the rights of the defendant.
So you can argue you shouldn't be prosecuted without admitting guilt.

The judge should never have put a stay on the case for such a frivolous claim.

IMO chutkan’s possible offer of 7 months, when he has already had 2 months, while it was stayed, seems over the top. Judges know ‘Citizen trump’ always draws out any court action. So we can all see every 24 hrs rolls another day closer to Nov. 5.

True, with 7 months, and 11+ million page of documents, defense need only peruse 14,000 per day.

If Trump wanted immunity, he should have gotten vaccinated..

It's interesting this immunity appeal opinion came the day after Trump's response deadline for the Colorado disqualification case before SCOTUS. Oral argument for that is just two days away.

How did Trump violate the vesting clause? I seem to recall him getting on Marine One and flying to Mar A Lago on schedule

Not a law talking guy but as i understand it there are a number of steps that must be taken prior to the emperor leaving the White House. If i recall, members of the Bush regime accused the Clinton regime of violating the vesting clause with made up stories of stealing "W" keys from keyboards.

when you ask a 4 minute droning verbose question with 5 subparts, while we watch facial reactions of 4 people not even knowing who you are talking to, bad podcast form.
