There’s was a moment when Seniora Albanese spoke of October seventh and how it did not, to paraphrase the Secretary General of the UN ‘did not come out of the blue,’ which I found myself relating to what Mr Varoufakis described as ‘the Israelisation of Europe.’ This is such an important concept and I would add not just Europe but the world, where so much repugnance has been normalised by it. In my opinion this ‘Israelisation’ is is not a one-way phenomenon but rather a dipole. In this conception Israel represents that small area of the ideological map that defines the entire map. Essentially Israel is able to get away with so much vile and evil behaviour because it correctly understands and aligns itself with the unspoken, unavoid white supremacist racist cosmogony of the deep state within the west, and in enacting its repugnant violence plays on their deep-seated racist fetish. Thus not only did the October Seventh events come out of a blue sky but also Israel’s cruelty and undiluted violence also, where it comes and aligns itself with the deeply racist ideological beliefs of the neo-nazis and fascists within the west, who are very much have been in the ascendancy over the past 23 years or so. When Seniora Albanese speaks of the racism against Palestinians and Arabs in general, she is very much on point, where if one was to look critically out western culture output over last half century, one will be see a clear picture of extensive and highly sophisticated demonisation that went hand in glove with west’s various military assaults on these people. These military assaults, apart from their racist underpinnings, are also highly lucrative for the west and Israel. The other side of this coin of course is that they’re highly destructive, not just to Palestinians, Arabs, Africans, Asians and people of the global south in general, but also they’re highly damaging to our collective human narrative and the various institutions within it that we have collectively put in place to ensure co-operation and co-existence, hence why Palestine and Gaza are so important to us all. ❤️🇵🇸✌️

Super interesting. It's nice to see debates and lectures like this one. I just wanted to let you know that I am only concerned that this is useful for thinking people. Thinking people should be a product of our society, grown up in school. It's important to re-establish the pillars of a good state: SCHOOL - JUSTICE - HEALTH CARE. Without these pillars, democracy will be a nightmare and it will function in a distorted and dystopic way. We will need years of good politicians. Time is running out, unfortunately.

One interpretation of the history of the Nakba goes back well before the 19thC to the crusades. Many sources descrbe the crusades as religious wars but another interpretation is that it was a kind of fascism born out the political need of the catholic church to promote itself in Europe and it became a kind of European hegemony in the middle east. Along these lines the Europeans then stole the technology and science of the arabs and claimed them as their own in the Renaissance. Though the empires driving this have evolved into new empires this all links together. It is fear of “the other” that we have to fix, so that those who take advantage of it are not able to. I am not a historian, criticism of this view I expressed is welcome.
The west a theives, just look at what the Brits did to the Parthenon the literal symbol for Western civilisation and democracy. They don't care about anything other than filling their coffers with treasures and hoards of gold from any nation other than themselves.

The fatal weakness of the UN system on the question of Palestine is that Israel claims its legitimacy as a state - its 'right to exist' - on the basis of its admission to the UN in 1948 by a two-thirds majority, albeit opposed by all its Arab neighbours (therein the sign of all trouble to come).
1948 was an important moment. India had gained its independence the previous year and decolonisation was beginning to gain momentum. Two developments bucked this trend: the establishment of Israel and the election of the white nationalists in South Africa, who set out to establish apartheid.
Less than a generation later, say about 15 years, UN membership had trebled; the USSR and satellites had also changed their position on support for Israel. In this changed world, a motion brought to the UN to establish a Jewish settler colony on a British mandate territory in Arab lands could never have gained a two-thirds vote: for a 'Jewish state' could only be established by driving out the indigenous inhabitants.
From this stems also the flawed project of the 'two-state solution', which is neither just nor viable: it's premised on Israel's membership of the UN as a legitimate state.
International law is hoist on this petard. All fair-minded people can see that ethnocracy is wrong, and that it was misguided to make reparations to European Jews for the Holocaust by allowing them to settle in the Middle East and start the Zionist project of ethnic cleansing.
The only solution that meets contemporary criteria of human rights and democratic values is for Israel/Palestine to become a single, secular, democratic state with equal rights for all. The so-called 'international community' needs to recognise that those powers who imposed Israel on the Middle East in 1948 were wrong to do so, and that the vast majority of current UN member states were excluded from the decision. Bad decisions of the past should not all be immutable or freeze the possibility for the righting of historic wrongs.

I love this woman. First of all she is a lady, intelligent, well read, composed, courageous and humane. A pride for Italy.
The most important thing is education - for peace, respect and co-operation and not selfishness. Human beings seem to be a mixture of selfishness and compassion. This is difficult because while there are psychopathic manipulators out there who will drive towards fascism we cannot just trust everyone - we have to trust those we can whilst keeping our guard against those who will take advantage for personal gain. This is quite simple to express but amazingly difficult to implement. All the approaches so far tried (eg Buddhism, Religion) have so far failed to achieve it. With growing populations (globally) and increasing pressure on the earth’s resilience we need to fix it else humans will destroy ourselves. If we are part of some simulation in a lab this would be a good problem to test humanity on. Love and peace and respect to all.
