    • @AmericanCrochetAssociation
      @AmericanCrochetAssociation  2 года назад

      Good question! Around the :25 second mark, Julie says this stitch is worked in multiples of 13+2. So, depending on the yarn you're using and your own personal stitch gauge, you'll chain multiples of 13+2 to recreate this stitch pattern in a size of your choosing. Enjoy!

    Regardless of how i do this my chain curls up back upon itself. I followed many tutorials and at no time has my chain stretched out like this. Mine keeps coming out like a spring. Been crocheting for forty years and this simple pattern has kicked my tukis. Guess i will continue my back and forth double stitch and square blanket throws...

    • @AmericanCrochetAssociation
      @AmericanCrochetAssociation  12 дней назад +1

      The single crochet is naturally a tight stitch, which can cause curling-especially along the edges and bottom rows. To help relax the fabric, try adjusting your **yarn, tension, or hook size**. **Blocking** the finished piece can also work wonders to smooth things out.

      I will try your suggestion.
      Its me I know because everyone else does it just fine. 🤭
      Thank You again and I may ask for other advice... 🙏💜💙

    I love your crochet hook. How many stitches would you need for a large blanket?

    • @CairnOwl
      @CairnOwl 4 года назад +1

      That depends. When I was looking up ripple patterns, they said 40x40, which was at base a 159 stitch. I wanted something larger than a lap throw, so I upped mine to 341 for (hopefully) 7 ft of blanket width. The length is up to you, though.

    If you aren’t changing colors, do you chain one ? You changed to grey and chained one and said it doesn’t count as a stitch, so I’m confused if we still need to chain one if keeping the same color or just 2sc turn and 2sc and continue with the 5

    why 41 chains? this is something all youtubers skip to explain but it's the most important thing if i want to make my own designs and not just repeat what was done in the video.

    • @AmericanCrochetAssociation
      @AmericanCrochetAssociation  2 года назад +2

      Great question, and we agree stitch repeats are important. That's why all our stitch tutorial videos note the stitch repeat (please listen in at the 27 second mark of this video to hear that this stitch is worked in multiples of 13+2). That is why this example starts with a chain of 41 (13x3 + 2 = 41). Enjoy :)
