There was also another wrestler that performed this move that would be best described as a Side Stone Cold Stunner/Ace Crusher From the Second Rope. When you play Fire Pro Wrestling, you can't do something like that and, as deep as the custom features are on the WWF/WWE games, even THEIR parameters won't allow for such a move to be made in the game. I thought that professional wrestling was supposed to be about innovation and not stagnation and the status quo. I will continue on my post.
I bitter sweetness of loving your reviews about Japanese Pro-wrestling games ( AKI included) makes me wish licensing wasn't such a huge factor in keeping these from coming to the states. Keep these up!
Now I need to go back to my rant about custom wrestling moves. I wanted to say something in addition to them but I couldn't think of it at the time. What would be a good idea for wrestling games is that when you have a wrestler in a storyline, regardless of the wrestler being a CAW or an in-game wrestler or the story being a pre-made one or a customized one, you also need to have more of an RPG-like element to it when it comes to making wrestling moves and wrestling matches.
Now that might sound a bit complex but hear me out on this one. When you wrestle, you learn more moves as your progress in a wrestling career. This is not unlike an RPG where the further that you progress in the game, the more spells, armor, weapons, and whatnot that you obtain in the game. Wrestling games need to have a similar mindset when it comes to wrestling moves, regardless of how weak or strong the moves are in the game. I will explain more about this in my next post to you.
Is there anyway in FPW2's practice mode, to make the the oppent STOP countering all your moves? you know, he just stands there while I figure out the controls
Had my copy of FPW 1 with me when I traveled to Great Britain for a term abroad but once I got there, I couldn't find it anywhere anymore and I'm still so incredibly bummed about it. That was the cartridge that got me into this series
The second problem is that when you have a wrestling game, you either are forced to have a medium to large set of moves and no customization on them or you have a WAY too complex method of making custom moves for your wrestlers. A few cases in point would be some moves that I saw in a promotion called TCW (Traditional Championship Wrestling). There was this one female wrestler that performed an awesome finisher that was a combination of Over Castle and the Stone Cold Stunner/Ace Crusher.
My idea is basically an adaptation of the Sphere Grid of the FFX-FFX-2 games, the License Board of FFXII, the Crystarium System of FFXIII, or the Revelation Flow Chart of Rogue Galaxy. However, unlike those games, you have the choice of working on what moves to do directly as opposed to simply gathering up items. In short, a prompt asks you via a wrestler in the Training Area or Gym on what move that you would like to perform and it will tell you the button combination to perform said move.
Fire Pro trivia - The Japanese version Final Fire Pro Wrestling is the best one due to having story mode, however the US version (Fire Pro 2) has almost double the amount of create a wrestler slots available than the Japanese version.
@mario199923 If your opponent keeps countering your moves, try starting with a weak grapple, which is the B button. Once you wear him down, press the A button. After you wear him down some more, press B+A simultaneously.
Love this video. and love love love these classic games. I’ve been playing FPW World and FPW D on my iPhone to get my fix wherever I am (and posted a few videos of iphone gameplay). Amazing that you can play such amazing games on your phone.
I played this as a kid, I hated wrestling but I was overwhelmed by the depth of the game, move edit, difficulty, etc...and all of that in a GBA cartridge!!!
@Shintaka9009 I believe that was either Super Fire Pro Wrestling III: Final Bout or Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special on the Super Famicom. I'm not quite sure.
Try practicing against the COM at level 1. Remember to press a button as soon as both wrestlers touch each other. Keep practicing until you get it right.
You keep learning the move enough and then you will master it, not unlike the Weapons System in Rogue Galaxy, but a bit more tailored towards wrestling statistics, suvh as endurance, strength, critical, etc. Also, Fire Pro Wrestling needs more frames of animation concerning throwing your opponent into the top or bottom turnbuckle as well as running to them from there as well in the game. I know that my posts are long, AllieRX87, but this is just a fraction of the needs of games like these.
What needs to happen is instead of having to choose between a large amount of moves and no customization or a medium amount of moves and a way too complex interface for making custom moves, you need to have a clear interface that makes it easy enough for the beginner yet not too complex for the advanced virtual grappler and allow for a large moveset that can be expanded via moves that you can create in the game and by dowloadable content from the company and from other players online. (cont.)
I recommend the first one, but the 2nd one is great too. As for Fire Pro Returns, it's on the American PSN. You don't have to live in the U.S. to create an American PSN account. I live in the U.S. and I have a Japanese PSN account. You can look up how to do it. It's very easy.
to the guy reviewing this game! thank you, man! your review is awesome! fire pro wrestling rocks! i'm looking and looking for "fire pro wrestling 3ds" to come out! no word on this from spike or bam studios, but i got my fingers crossed and I'M hoping for it and that they keep it in 2d! peace! ...FIRE PRO WRESTLING FOREVER!...
@WWEANIMEFANZ I've tried played pirated Genesis games on an emulator and they don't seem to work for some reason. I've tried both Gens and Kega Fusion. None of them played pirated games.
Oh no! It won't bore me! I'd love to see what you think of the Fire Pro franchise. And if both the SmackDown vs. Raw/WWE and Fire Pro series fail to be the absolute best in wrestling games, what could possibly be better than them? The AKI wrestling games?
Actually, it was a move made by Athena and it was essentially a Spinning Stone Cold Stunner/Ace Crusher From the Top Turnbuckle. It looked awesome, by the way.
There's a hidden character of kyoko inoune in the survivor mode. She appears once in a blue moon and She's tough. She wears a white tee and pants. After the fight you won't see her again. Guessing she probably appears when You turn up the difficulty.🤷
IS the fire pro wrestling fighting engine anything like VIrtual Pro Wrestling on N64 or its US Counterparts WCW/n.W.o Revenge, Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy? those were my all time fav wrestling games and they were much more technical than todays wrestling sims
V-Mon Link64 No. The grappling system in this game is based on timing. You press a button one time and at the right time. For punches and kicks, you need to keep your distance.
They need to accept that the independent wrestling organizations do it as well as the lucha libre and European and international wrestling organizations. Also, wrestling games need to have a combination of the WWE Universe mode and the storyline concept from WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role for the PS1 and the ability to make your own storyline and to make your own commentary that is supported by online microphones. E-federations are HUGE and steps need to be made to accomodate them, too.
@AllieRX87 I agree With you . By the way ,In FPR Landmine you can do a suicide dive from the inside of the ring to the oustside while your opponent is out side groggy , but yes after that the wrestlers automatically return to the ring. Also i would recommend you to try a game that is Fire pro 3d Adaptation that is called King of Coliseum 2. Its in Japanese but its playable to non-Japanese speakers, also there is a translation guide at Games FAQ.
Nice review, i love old school 16 bit style graphics so they look cool but Wrestlemania 2000 is the best Wrestling game i've ever played so i don't know if they can top that.
i got my first fire pro wrestling game when i was 28. back in 1997. i was playing FIRE PRO WRESTLING:SIX MAN SCRAMBLE for the sega saturn! for about 4 months, i was getting my ass kicked and never won a match. then, i beat the game and went thru all 300 wrestlers and 12 modes in 2 months. i got the gameboy advance versions of fire pro wrestling on the day that they both came out! they've lived in my ds and sp handhelds ever since! FIRE PRO WRESTLING FOREVER!
I had this game, but got rid of it because I didn't like it in the day. But I recently started thinking about it, so thanks for the video also and explain what I was doing wrong to, LOL!
@triplehhh8777 FPR has a standard cage match, and in the Landmine Match, when you get knocked outta the ring, you automatically go back inside. That didn't happen in FPD. The only Non-Japanese wrestlers I recognized in FPR are Andre The Giant, Abdullah The Butcher, Terry Funk, The Road Warriors, Sting, Bret Hart, Dr. Death Steve Williams, Terry Gordy, Jeff Jarrett, Rikishi, AJ Styles, Sabu, Dynamite Kid, and I THINK British Bulldog is in there too. D still has the better default roster than R.
@triplehhh8777 Story Mode, Barbwire Electric Cage Match, Landmine Match where you can fight outside the ring, Japanese wrestlers + WCW, ECW, and Attitude Era WWF wrestlers as the default roster.
@AllieRX87 You have the same features in FPR Except Story mode. Plus the Default roster also contains wrestlers from the 90s . And there are a lot of saved game files of users who made Extra wrestlers Rings and what not ,and they vary from the 80s up to present time . So you could literally play With any Roster you would like ,ECW,WWF, you name It. I played with the WWF classic roster ,and now I'm playing with the present time roster , So i could have dream matches from any promotion.
i do miss having the referee being in the ring like he was in the japanes sega saturn and sega dreamcast versions of fire pro wrestling! nothing like running your opponent into the referee to buy you some time to rest! then i loved it when the referee used to roll around on the mat and grab his head in pain and cry.....hee..hee..hee.hee.hee..good times...
No they didn't. You're probably thinking of Natsume Championship Wrestling, which was a localized version of an All-Japan Pro Wrestling game, which also a Fire Pro clone.
Your so right FirePro is the best wrestling game it took a day to get used to the controls but when I did it was so good to bash the crap out of the cpu
@WWEANIMEFANZ I don't review Mario games unless they're obscure (i.e. Mario's Time Machine) or considered the "black sheep" of the series (i.e. Super Mario Sunshine).
you didnt even have the rest option in the snes game . i remember i made many wrestlers ! man good memories now i have FPWR ps2 emulator wiht excellent graphcis upsaled
Unfortunatly I was one of the poor saps who button mashed this game like crazy when I first played it, I thought the controls were glitched until I found out about the right way to play this game
@imwatchingvideoz Yeah. Really interesting ending there. ButI guess you can expect that from a game developed under Goichi Suda (who later formed Suda 51).
@THENAMEISQUICKMAN Depends on the fate of the avatar Fire Pro game. If it sells well (god forbid), then they'll probably continue making games like that. If it doesn't, then it could go in two ways: they MIGHT make another one but go back to the classic engine like they should've, or stop making Fire Pro games altogether if they think only WWE wrestling games sell these days. From what I've heard, that game is only getting a Japan release, which is dumb because Xbox 360 is irrelevant over there
this is the best wrestilng game for the gameboy advance by miles i have the orinigal fire pro wrestling game still after fire pro wrestling 2 but the gameplay kicks ass the sound awesome the music ok the graphics decent overall i give fire pro wrestling 1 10 piledrivers out of 10 i bought this at a boot sale a few years back for 2 pound loose cart i was very pleased i still play this now
no. you kinda' need both. fire pro one has more types of matches. fire pro wrestling two has an updated wrestler's/fighters' rosters list and a royal rumble mode! plus, fire pro wrestling two has more new moves. in closing? think of both fire pro games for the gba as like a pokemon red and pokemon blue. get 'em both if you can! peace!...

I DO also wish Nintendo would release it through the eShop because it would be awesome to have it on the 3ds xl bigger screen.
Before anyone asks, yes I've seen the trailer for Fire Pro Wrestling World and I CANNOT FUCKING WAIT TO PLAY IT!
wut system? And how would I restart my game on Firpro 1?
it's on steam
This game is worth buying. SO much fun. Sadly there was no Spanish announce table to put brock lesnar through the table.
Still playing fpw 1 for gba
Its extremely great to play in this quarentine
Great video!!!
This looks great. Thanks for explaining the controls. I couldn't figure it out on ps4.
9:44 *PRIDE Fighting Championship* ring
what i like in fire pro gamea are the criticals. ur having ur ass kicked by the cpu then bam! pulled an rko outta nowhere and win the match!
Damn good review bro. Fire Pro wrestling Advance. For me greatest wrestling game ever and my fave. The 100% n tornado tag incredible replay value.

Just got this game and was having trouble with the controls even with the manual and you explained it perfectly. Thanks.

how do you get a proper entrance because they just come out of the crowd each corner?
Are you going to go back and review the other games in the series?

So to change american wrestlers colors we have to use caw slots

hell yeah, Fire Pro Wrestling
any chance of rumble roses being reviewed?
@AllieRX87 Is the gold medel sound from No More Heores?
Would you ever do a review on super Mario world 64 on the mega drive/genesis
I recommend the first one, but the 2nd one is great too.

There's a hidden character of kyoko inoune in the survivor mode.

She's tough.
She wears a white tee and pants.
After the fight you won't see her again.
Guessing she probably appears when
You turn up the difficulty.🤷
The "story mode" aka Management of Ring, is indeed very awesome and 10x better than any WWE GM mode.
Have you played the Freestyle audience mode? Do you know a way to unlock the wrestlers in that mode?
I think so, but I'm not quite sure. I know Fire Pro Returns has them.
IS the fire pro wrestling fighting engine anything like VIrtual Pro Wrestling on N64 or its US Counterparts WCW/n.W.o Revenge, Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy?

ahh i just got done watching your FPW Returns vid. so no pay per view events for CWs :(
at least you can do title matches right?
They need to accept that the independent wrestling organizations do it as well as the lucha libre and European and international wrestling organizations. @AllieRX87 Wait, what? One of the games ended with your character killing himself?
I think you have to press both A+B. I haven't played this in a while.
i got my first fire pro wrestling game when i was 28. back in 1997. i was playing FIRE PRO WRESTLING:SIX MAN SCRAMBLE for the sega saturn! for about 4 months, i was getting my ass kicked and never won a match. then, i beat the game and went thru all 300 wrestlers and 12 modes in 2 months.

How do you tag in your teamate?
how do I tag my partner in a tag team match I've tried pressing every button and still can't tag him in
Rxco GAMBXNO get next to your partner and press L on the GBA and possibly the direction in which your partner is
I had this game, but got rid of it because I didn't like it in the day.
But I recently started thinking about it, so thanks for the video also and explain what I was doing wrong to, LOL!
are there any weapons in this game ?
thanks i couldnt find how to play manager of the ring in fire pro wrestling2
Ok. I'll be looking forward to it.
Will it also be better than the AKI wrestling games? :p
is that you at the ending of this video? just wondering...
@ADTgame82 Probably not. There's way too many of them and there are certain emulators I can't run on my conputer (Dreamcast being one of them).

I had Fire Pro Wrestling Z for the PS2 for a few weeks ago, maybe there's Story Mode and Victory Road!
From what I've heard, it's basically the same as Fire Pro Wrestling D on the Dreamcast, but with a different roster.
Allie-RX Yep and there were a few new promotions such as ZERO-ONE and World Japan, but nice uploading!
I love your wrestling game reviews
Hi pls can u giv me the full controls and tips I've just got this game and I haven't won a match and I'm on the lowest difficulty lol :-S
They had fire pro wrestling games released in the US on the SNES.
No they didn't. You're probably thinking of Natsume Championship Wrestling, which was a localized version of an All-Japan Pro Wrestling game, which also a Fire Pro clone.
Your so right FirePro is the best wrestling game it took a day to get used to the controls but when I did it was so good to bash the crap out of the cpu
took me some months for fire pro wrestling returns
@WWEANIMEFANZ I don't review Mario games unless they're obscure (i.e. Mario's Time Machine) or considered the "black sheep" of the series (i.e. Super Mario Sunshine).
And for the record, I've pre-ordered WWE '13 and I'm actually excited for it, so that pretty much defeats the whole elitist argument.
will there be a 3ds version. i would buy it right now.
you didnt even have the rest option in the snes game .
i remember i made many wrestlers !
man good memories
now i have FPWR ps2 emulator wiht excellent graphcis upsaled
dude I made a technician wrestlers ,,,,I'd get criticals from the Russian hooks a+b strike... life was so good!
@hilarioph Well you can download Fire Pro Wrestling G from the PSOne Classics section on the Japanese PSN, so I guess that's close enough.
@AllieRX87
How come?
Unfortunatly I was one of the poor saps who button mashed this game like crazy when I first played it, I thought the controls were glitched until I found out about the right way to play this game
How can i Pin my opponent ? I always do ground grappels...
I think it is either L or R by their feet.
hoping to get frie pro wrestling advanced for christimas that the only one i can afford
@LeafStorm14 Check out ponkotsu913go. He does Kamen Rider CAWs for Fire Pro R, Day of Reckoning, Here Comes The Pain, and the SmackDown vs. Raw games.
All these moves on the GBA. Yowie Wowie!
Fire Pro Wrestling X for the SNES was great.
@imwatchingvideoz Yeah. Really interesting ending there.
ButI guess you can expect that from a game developed under Goichi Suda (who later formed Suda 51).
My favorite wrestling game

@Michaelanelson14 Not so sure.
Yeah a new freaking review!! I love you man!!
Cool Review Allie!!
Hopefully I'll buy this sometime!!
@AllieRX87 Oddly enough, I could play it on my PS2 with PGEN.
I wish Fire pro wrestling will be on the PS3 someday
YES!! OMG I KNEW U WOULD REVIEW THIS ONE DAY! :D
@connoro14 WWF WrestleMania for the NES.
this is the best wrestilng game for the gameboy advance by miles i have the orinigal fire pro wrestling game still after fire pro wrestling 2 but the gameplay kicks ass the sound awesome the music ok the graphics decent overall i give fire pro wrestling 1 10 piledrivers out of 10 i bought this at a boot sale a few years back for 2 pound loose cart i was very pleased i still play this now
