    Video Transcript:
    Sometime while working on a perspective drawing, you might come across a situation where you need to draw things that are uniform in size.
    For example, these could be a tile floor, windows in a sky scrapers, or a chessboard. Or it could be that you need to draw things that have an identical amount of space between them... such as a row of telephone poles.
    These problems can be challenging because it is hard to determined how those tiles or windows should dismiss in size as they go back into the distance.
    So in this lesson, we are going to go over a simple but very effective technique that you can use to measure and divide space in perspective.
    Please refer to the video above for details on how this method works.
    Now, if you like this lesson and would like to learn more about perspective drawing, I highly recommend you check out my course, "Perspective Made Simple"
    This is a video home study course that consist of over 38 step-by-step lessons. You'll learn every you need to know to draw perspective like a pro. Even if you are a complete beginner, these lessons will guide you every step of the way so that you'll never be confused.

    Sir, shouldn't we gradually reduce the size here you put one inch from center to both sides (left and right) as we do from forground to background (horizontal line) because the left and right side also away from the observer to vanishing points?

    For the first square, is there any precise way to measure a perfect square with perfectly equal length and width as opposed to estimating? If I estimated like for the first square in the video, it could be a rectangle that is very close to a square but a bit off of a square. Even if it is unnoticeable, I would like to be as precise as possible
    In perspective drawing, how can I draw a horizontal line segment with the same length of a different line segment that radiates from the vanishing point or vice versa?

      I have the same question (I think). If drawing to exact measures, it is easy to measure and draw the front width of, let's say, a room. For example, the width is 10". Now, in the aft corner of the room, I need to draw a square of 1" by 2". I saw something that works with eclipses etc, but there must be some mathematical way to achieve this, or even better, by aid lines or projecting lines.

      I believe it's impossible unless you know parameters of your "imaginary camera" through which you observe the drawn world. You have to know how high the camera is above the ground, its focal length, angle etc. I don't think there is an artist who consider these numbers when painting, they just develop the feeling of the perspective through trials and errors.
      upd: well, just now I've noticed that I responded to the 9yo comment. maybe I'm a little bit late

      +Cyberdemon1542 I see what you mean. Precision is important, but you can still draw very nice building without super accurate precision. But I see your point.
      With the square situation, it's a bit tricky because the height of the square will varies depending on the angle you are looking at it and gettting super precision can really really complicated really fast. It gets very mathematical and to be honest, I'm not 100% well versed in this, but I will do some research and try to do a video on it in the future.

      @Cyberdemon1542 8 лет назад

      Ok, thank you! I have been searching for good art tutorials for a long time. Some have bad video quality, another guy was talking and drawing too fast, another just drawed without explanation. You get the picture! Your videos are spot on! I am also thinking about buying your book on perspective.
      I have another question, this time about the technique in this video. So this is really easy to understand if there is nothing between the squares but what if I want to put say pillars between squares like in this photo?
