  • In this scenario, you must avenge Francisco de Almeida's son by ignoring orders to return to Portugal and defeating those who are responsible. You have two options: defeat the Mamluks, Ottomans, and Diu, or build and protect a Wonder.
It took me several tries to beat this mission, so there are some cuts where I saved and reloaded multiple times).
On the fringes of Europe, the Portuguese manage a meager and unsure existence, hardened by centuries of war. Now, daring explorers have returned from India and given Portugal hope of glories and wealth unachievable in the Old World. Can you lead a Portuguese armada to the East and forge an empire that spans three continents and two oceans?
On the western edge of Europe, a resilient principality slowly grew into one of the greatest maritime powers of all time. Set sail on mighty Caravels and Carracks, discover new routes to unknown lands, and expand your trade routes to the mighty African empires. Construct Feitorias in faraway settlements and use your newly acquired riches to outfit your armies with the deadly arquebus! The Portuguese unique unit is the Organ Gun, an artillery piece that fires a volley of bullets in a lethal spread.

Another scenario ruined by excessive updates trying to make it "MoRe InTeReStInG"
This was the coolest and most replayable mission of the Porto campaign in HD and the last few DE updates totally ruined it.

I tried the conquest approach and it was actually impossible.
When you build a wonder however is a cakewalk.

@@TZAISTV-wl9bs But the cannons! The cannons!
I attempted it a few times, but the opening stage is so tedious. Fun the first time, but then it is just so slow and boring to do again and again only to be overrun in the other stage.
The same issue lies with the Wonder of the World mission from Hautevilles. It was *SO* much fun on release with the story telling and mechanics, but now it is absolutely impossible to hold any position and the only option is a wonder in the absolute corner of the map where it is just out of range of ships and can be guarded by a wall of castles, otherwise you will be annihilated.
That is challenging, yes, but I play those for the stories and enjoyment, not to see how good I am at clicking and micro managing constantly stuck units, especially ships.
I noticed that they tend to love ruining filthydelphia's campaigns, because the competitive/multiplayer gamers don't like his more rpg/plot driven campaigns and make them insanely difficult or broken.

@@Matt..S The Hautevilles last mission was horrible. I had to save and repeatedly reload at least 50 times before I managed to defeat yellow. You start in castle age while all your enemies start in late castle or straight imp. They send siege rams, onagers, elite teutinic knights and is so hard to deal with. I liked the idea of the scenario but the execution was very bad.

@@TZAISTV-wl9bs There is also zero reason to ally with anyone. Ally with the pirates and they get instantly defeated by the Byz. Ally with Red and they turn completely passive. Ally with Byz and you can't build a wonder.
If they removed the ridiculous cannon galleons and dromonds, it would be challenging but enjoyable. Why does every scenario need those stupid ahistoric pieces of shit? If they can't fix their useless broken naval pathing/units being able to find targets on their own, they should just scrap water maps in general.

@@TZAISTV-wl9bs It's not impossible, try booming before converting afonso at the last second of the treaty. build two castles at the two crossings (train units specifically to snipe siege units, let the castle do the rest). train fire ships and cannons, so you can destroy the enemy docks before the train a large navy. Once you control the ocean, you can easily focus on land. If you're aggressive enough, you can defeat your enemies before they become too strong
